LOL. I didn't know that. What does the paper in the envelope mean? That you opened it and looked at it? LMAO I'm seriously asking though.

The BLACK dot is the tell all indicator that you have posted to the thread.

http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/im...whotfolder.gif = New replies to this thread that you have posted to, and if it is orange, it is considered "HOT" because it has more than 15 replies

http://www.greekchat.com/gcforums/images/newfolder.gif = new replies, you've never posted to this thread, less than 15 replies in the thread

Thank you! Now I don't have to search through the whole thread to find out if I posted there, lol.

DC_Zeta1920 12-01-2005 01:45 PM

I didn't even pay attention to that icon.

I agree, I found myself doing that yesterday. LOL

Dionysus 12-01-2005 02:21 PM

The only threads I read are the ones with the bullet holes in them. :D

ladygreek 12-01-2005 02:26 PM

So that's what that black dot means. Ya learn something new everyday.

onlyme 12-01-2005 02:30 PM

I didn't know that, thanx!

CrimsonTide4 12-01-2005 02:30 PM

I updated the title so as not to make it seem like I am the only one who can impart GC tips. :)

nikki1920 12-01-2005 03:01 PM

thankee, CTFo.

tinydancer 12-01-2005 10:20 PM

I did not know that! And yes, I always wondered what they meant.
Thanks!

Tickled Pink 2 12-01-2005 11:55 PM

I didn't know that!

I still have to scroll thru resurrected older threads though to see if I responded as tickledpink back in the day.

No you don't.
In the replies column, the # of replies is a hyperlink. Click on that and it shows who has posted in that particular thread as well as how many times.

All are welcome. :)

ladygreek 12-02-2005 01:50 AM

Class is in session. All rise for professor CT4! YAY!!!!!
*shocked to see that I have the most posts in the Soror Intro thread* LOL

James 12-02-2005 03:32 AM

If you go to "User CP" at the top of your window and then click on "edit Options" you can change the "Default posts per thread" to 40 per page.

It saves a dramatic amount of load time when browsing GC.

You're right.

I already knew about the "bullet hole". I dont come here that often lately, and it reminds me which topics I replied to so I don't repeat myself.

ladygreek 12-03-2005 02:38 AM

Thanks for the tip, James.

Do You Want to Read GC without Folks Knowing Exactly what thread you are looking at?

1. Go to User CP
2. Edit Options

Invisible Mode?
Selecting yes allows you to surf the forums without appearing in the 'Logged In Users' list. yes no

3. Select yes
4. Submit modifications.

New Tip

A lot of times in a thread, we want to quote more than one person in one post without posting back to back. But how, you ask?

1. Click quote same as always.
2. In the text box, type your reply to quote one.
3. Scroll down under the text box to find the other post you want to quote.
4. Highlight what you want to quote, hit Ctrl C to copy.
5. Come back to text box, hit Ctrl V to paste.
6. But to make it know that this is XYZ on GC that you are quoting, go to quote 1 in the text box.
Copy and paste this: [ QUOTE][ i]Originally posted by soulfulremix [ /i]
[ B] **SPACE ADDED SO CODE WOULD SHOW**

7. Change the GCers name from quote 1 to whoever you are quoting in quote 2.
8. At the end of quote 2, copy and paste [ /B][ /QUOTE] **SPACE ADDED SO CODE WOULD SHOW**
9. Type your response to quote 2.

If done correctly, your post will look like this:

Quote:

I love that quote!!

Sis, you are DOING IT with the quote and the RBG, for an added effect.

I agree

Nope, I didn't write that. It comes from writing by Aulelei Love. broken girls become broken women become mothers become broken mirrors become warriors become broken poems become broken backs. the only thing intact is the cycle.

be good to your daughters.

Thanks for sharing. :D

It's really just a matter of copying and pasting.:)

Subscriptions & The IGNORE Feature

Ignoring GCers
  • You cannot ignore moderators :) :(
  • If a person is on your ignore list, you will not receive a PM from them either. It goes into the Black Hole of Cyberspace.
  • To add a person to your ignore list, click their profile and at the bottom, there are 2 options: add to buddy list or add to ignore list

Subscribing to Your Favorite Forums on GC
Instead of always having to click on View New Posts and seeing countless threads, you can subscribe to your favorite forums.

What this does is all of your favorite forums appear in your User Control Panel/User CP.

At the top of the forum's page, right hand side, there are 3 options:
New Thread (create new thread)
Subscribe to this forum
Mark this forum read

Choose Option 2.

This just cuts down on seeing new posts in forums, you don't normally read.

You can then just go to your User CP to see which of your favorite forums have new posts. From here you can also see if you have new UNREAD PMs.:)
