American Idol 5 ~ Coming in January on Fox

And Simon will be back

DC_Zeta1920 11-30-2005 10:50 PM

I can honestly say that I am getting quite tired of AI. I get more pleasure out of watching the auditions :D

Me too and the thing is they have Simon for 5 more years which means 5 more seasons of it.

I doubt I watch it past the city to city auditions if that.

RBL 11-30-2005 11:02 PM

I'll say I won't watch......and lo and behold I'll be hooked

Jells 12-01-2005 11:55 AM

American Idol

I think I'll watch for the auditions and if there is a clear favorite, like another Fantasia, I'll tune in.

By the way, Fantasia was beat out for the part in Dreamgirls by another American Idol contestant, Jennifer (I think the black girl with the big hair).

Yup, Jennifer Hudson

Jells 12-01-2005 12:22 PM

Not really sure how that happened though. It MUST have been on acting ability because Fantasia could out-sing her anyday! That probably would have pushed her career even further.

Anybody see her on Kanye West's tour? I've kinda lost touch with what's going on with her today...

If you've ever seen Dreamgirls or know the story...Fantasia would not have been a good fit for the role of Effie....Jennifer is a good choice vocally and visually....(even Frenchie from Season 2 would have been a good fit)

Frenchie would have been excellent as Effie, but I'm glad Jennifer got the part.

I'm so ready for AI!!! I hope it's much better than this year's show.

DirectorDST1999 12-09-2005 10:57 PM

After they've had a winner like Fantasia it's hard to watch. Last season was kinda BLAH.

What they haven't had yet was a white male winner and that's probably what they're looking for in season 5. You will be able to tell what they want by demographics of the top 12.

AI-V will be on Thursdays this year

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - This season, "American Idol" will air on Thursdays after all.

After announcing late last month that it would keep the blockbuster reality series in its original Tuesday and Thursday slots -- ending weeks of speculation about a possible move of the results show to Thursday -- Fox said Monday that during the three-week semifinal round, the live results show will air Thursdays.

As previously announced, the audition stage of the singing competition will air at 8-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning January 17.

The semifinals will begin February 15, when the 12 male and 12 female singers who made it through the preliminary rounds will be revealed.

For the next three weeks, the men will perform on Tuesday, the women on Wednesday, followed by a one-hour live results show at 8-9 p.m. Thursday.

With the field winnowed down to 12 singers, the final round of the competition will follow the familiar Tuesday-Wednesday scheduling pattern beginning March 14.

Something told me to get one of those when I worked for "major satelight company". At that time I could get it for $50. Now I go to pay $100 like everyone else.

Derek Dupree ~ "passion man" ~ you sweating a whole bunch; WTF did you just do? No seriously.

nom d'plume 01-17-2006 09:16 PM

No he didn't wipe his brow with a dollar.

CrimsonTide4 01-17-2006 09:18 PM

Did that cow really get up there thinking that doing the Humpty Dance would get her to the 2nd round?

nom d'plume 01-17-2006 09:23 PM

LOL! You called her a cow.
But seriously, she did NOT start trying to SING the Humpty Dance, did she?

CrimsonTide4 01-17-2006 09:27 PM

Contestant 897 ~ That mofo is a man and is wearing blonde Pippi Longstocking braids and a gingham dress.

Twins sound good. :) Really good. :) Paula is about to text message them her digits.:o

FeeFee 01-17-2006 10:41 PM

My frigging ears are BLEEDING!!

Dear Ukranian girl: I guess you'll have to go home afterall. BTW - they were being sarcastic with you.

nom d'plume 01-17-2006 10:50 PM

Boo. He is on drugs. Randy and Paula need to stop playing.

Exactly I was so mad at that. His pupils were clearly dialated.

lilbay77 01-18-2006 09:19 AM

Awww I felt so bad for the black guy with the pork chop side burns, (that Simon said he should be a female impersonator).
He was so hurt:(

I LOL at the girl who told ol' girl she didn't sing all that well!

This audition was nowhere near as funny as last year.

It seems like there were more personal attacks from the judges than actual voice critiques **shrugs**

But at least Simon stands by what he says, Paula is phoney with hers.

I fell asleep on the last 15 minutes so I missed the boy who jumped around like Kriss Kross.

NUPE4LIFE 01-18-2006 09:27 AM

I can't believe how nobody mentioned how Simon told the black boy that if he shaved he'd be a good female impersonator. I about died. And when Simon told that girl that her performance was a "right mess". I was like what the hell.

I know the twins, they go to my church. I missed their audition, but I already knew they could sang. I walked in the house just as they were screaming they were going to Hollywood.

See, when he first walked into the auditioning room I said to brothaman, "ewww, he looks like your neice qrstuv", well you know brothaman took offense to it........... so when Simon told sissy dude that if he shaved off his beard and put on a dress------> I was silently saying, "ha-ha told ya" but instead I giggled myself all the way off the sofa! :D

I have never watched more then five minutes of AI... I was like  for the entire show, especially when the pixy-looking-girl with the face tan and black eye-liner wrapped all around her eyes started to whin-talk...btw...how did she get an opportunity to perform a second time?

And the girl from the UK needed a pole to go with all that dancing   !

ETA: Do these folks get paid for appearing on AI...because deputy-I-shot-the-sheriff must have or at least made a bet with his fellow officers to do some mess like that!......

CTFU. Paula better watch it. Those boys are merely 16 years old (but is that the age of consent in wherever?)

BLUTANG 01-18-2006 03:52 PM

i love AI auditions. that's all i'll watch until they're down to the final 4.

1. how many times did ol' boy "shoot the sherriff?" i could have SWORN bob marley had more words to that song, lol.

2. tan girl and her mama NEED. TO. STOP. how is leathery skin at 16 cute?

3. quote of the evening... "the proof is in the paper".... hmm, i thought it was in the pudding, but i've been wrong before.

last night was a right mess!

Steeltrap 01-18-2006 05:48 PM

^^
Tan girl looks like "Parasite" Hilton. Her momma looks like a white hot mess. I mean, boo, you're too old to rock the minis.

No Blutang...you're right...It is.

Ol'girl was simply letting the complaining-chick digest the fact that no matter what anyone may feel or think about her singing/performance abilities, she had (in the words of Charlie from Willy Wonka)...the GOLDEN TICKET and was going to Hollywood.

Now, for the chick doing all the complaining, did she get a "yes" from the judges to go to Hollywood or not? I didn't catch her performance...

AI is a mess...does it come on again tonight?:D
