RIP Children's author Stan Berenstain
I just heard this morning that Stan Berenstain, one of the authors of The Berenstain Bears died at the age of 82. He wrote the books along with his wife Jan. They had written over 200 stories.
I rediscovered their books when I was looking for appropriate material to read to my nephew. "Berenstain Bears Lend A Helping Hand" is a good one. |
Berenstein Bears used to be one of my definite faves. I wore out the pages to one of my books from reading it so many times.

:(
Yes! Those were classics. Did anyone have their Science Fair book? I was always around the house trying to do one of their projects. :o |

:( sad indeed. I still watch the cartoon from time to time on PBS. |
This is sad.
We read his books to all of our kids, and now our grand daughter. |
I love the books and the cartoons! RIP:(

|
noooooo :( I loved those books! I think my collection of Berenstain Bears books is almost complete.
|
I loved Berenstain Bears. :(
|
Growing up till age 7 as an only child I really enjoyed the brother-sister stories of these books. The Trouble With Money was one I really liked.
|
:(
I used to love reading those books over and over again. |
I had SO many of these books when I was a kid (i was a total bookworm!), I absolutely LOVED them!
|
I use to read those books all the time as a kid and now I read them to my class. He surely will be missed!!
|
We have quite the collection of Berenstain Bears books here. I loved them and even better, the boys loved them. RIP Stan and thanks for the many happy memories.
|
I still have my parents' copy of a book by the Berenstains (published in the late fifties) --it's a hysterically funny book on raising kids. When I was a child, they had a cartoon strip in one of the women's magazines that I loved as well. What a brilliant couple.
|
:( I just love those books. They are some of the most popular books in my school library.
Carnation, I remember the cartoons in the women's magazine; I just can't remember which one it was. |
It was interesting - when my wife and I were looking for presents for my 2-year old Goddaughter, I was surprised that the Berenstein Bears books were still around. It looked as if there had been some that were written recently. These books were among the ones that got me interested in reading, and interest I've had my whole life.
May he rest in peace - he certainly brought joy to countless numbers of children (and adults for that matter). |
RIP :(
|
:( Seems the good ones are going. I loved the stories

So sad... Berenstain Bear books were pretty much my favorites as a kid... I especially remember "Too Much Birthday" and my mom still quotes Berenstain wisdom to me when necessary, i.e. "what would Mama Bear say about brownies for breakfast?"
|
My dad ordered a bunch of Berenstain Bears HARDBACK books when I was a kid.
I'm glad to say that I went through them and enjoyed them. The older nieces and nephews enjoyed them also. Rest assured that my collection will go on for the next set of readers in my clan to come! They'll be cherished right next to my Barbies and my She-Ra Princess of Power Crystal Kingdom Castle. (And I have to admit that I catch their animated show on PBS because it's the only thing on at 4am when I come home on the weekends) |
