RW/RR The Gauntlet II: Rookies vs. Veterans

Anyone catch the preview special MTV aired last week? If not, I'm sure you've seen the commercials showing the drama that's to come!

The first episode airs December 5th...I can't wait!

So far this the breakdown of the Rookies and Veterans:

Veterans
Syrus (Real World Boston)
David (Real World Seattle)
Ace (Real World Paris)
Brad (Real World San Diego)
Mark (Road Rules USA Tour I)
Timmy (Road Rules USA Tour II)
Adam (Road Rules The Quest)
Derrick (Road Rules Xtreme)

Beth S. (Real World Los Angeles)
Montana (Real World Boston)
Ruthie (Real World Hawaii)
Julie (Real World New Orleans)
Aneesa (Real World Chicago)
Robin (Real World San Diego)
Katie (Road Rules The Quest)
Jisela (Road Rules The Quest)

Rookies
Jamie (Real World New Orleans)
Alton (Real World Las Vegas)
Adam (Real World Paris)
Randy (Real World San Diego)
Landon (Real World Philadelphia)
MJ (Real World Philadelphia)
Jeremy (Road Rules South Pacific)
Danny (Road Rules Xtreme)

Jo (Real World San Francisco)
Cameran (Real World San Diego)
Susie (Road Rules Down Under)
Cara (Road Rules South Pacific)
Ibis (Road Rules Xtreme)
Jillian (Road Rules Xtreme)
Jodi (Road Rules Xtreme)
Kina (Road Rules Xtreme)

Yay for no Coral and the evil bitches (Veronica, Rachel, Tonya, Trishelle). I liked the Miz, but I'm glad he's sitting this one out.

Glad that Ruthie's back because we know that girl can haaaaang! Katie's always been a favorite -- and I'm looking forward to seeing Cameran (RW-SD) and Susie (RR-Australia), especially since we haven't seen em in a while.

Btw, yet another RW/RR challenge just wrapped up production in Australia. The cast hasn't been released yet, but it's called the Fresh Meat Challenge, and features the most recent RW Austin cast. Hopefully it'll be interesting!

BirthaBlue4 11-26-2005 08:12 PM

I'm so glad there's no crippled Tanya, I dunno what to do. Coral and Veronica were pure entertainment.

But...

I'M GONNA NEED BETH'S OLD BEHIND TO SIT THE F&^% DOWN!!! She's always starting something with them kids. Old behind...

The usual vocal troublemakers won't be there, let's not forget that Julie is. And Julie manages to start isht no matter where she goes. Yay for MTV Mormons! :p

KDAngel 11-26-2005 09:28 PM

This is def going to be a guilty pleasure type show. :D Gotta love it! :)

Amen for this!!!!!!!

I was so incredibly sick of seeing Coral and Veronica starting problems on the other shows (and then Rachel, Tonya and Trishelle being their loyal "puppy dog" followers). So annoying!!!!!!

I don't understand about the whole "Rookie" vs. "Veteran" type thing. Are they Rookie's because they had shows that were "newer?" When i first heard it, I thought that it was veterans of the challenges and the rookies were the ones who had not been on a show or had only been on 1.

Like why is Ace a 'veteran' and Jo is a 'rookie' I don't understand how they chose who went where.

But i'm looking forward to this season w/o Veronica and crazy-ass Tonya!!!

I think the 'rookie' concept is a combination of those whose shows were more recent, those who have never been on a challenge, and those who have only been on one. I look at the names from that last and the majority of them were on the last challenge -- then again, their seasons were more recent.

I know Ace has been on at least one challenge (I want to say two), but when you think of it, Paris was a few season ago.

33girl 11-28-2005 05:57 PM

Rookie is those who are doing their first challenge (i.e. are losing their challenge virginity).

Veteran is those who have been on them before.

Perhaps it's their first Gauntlet?

I ask only because Landon, Ibis, Jodi, Kina, Adam, and *THINK* Cameran were on either the Battle of the Sexes or the Inferno.

Yeah I thought that too...but Montana is on the 'veterans' side, and this is her first Gauntlet...and I THINK it is her first challenge period.

yeah you are right. Landon, Jodi, Adam (from Paris), Cameran, Ibis and I think--MJ or Randy were on the last challenge.

Plus---Alton, Adam, Landon, Randy, (I think), MJ (I think), Jeremy (I think), Cameran, Susie (I think), Cara, Ibis, Jodi and Kina all have been on challenges before!!

So the "Rookie" idea only holds true (for sure) for Jo, Danny, Jillian.

AznSAE 11-28-2005 08:29 PM

from what i took from watching the previews....

rookies = those who are completely new to the road rules/real world challenges OR those who have been on it before, but not more than 2 or so times.

veterans = those who dont have a job and have come back many many times.

any greeks?

Sister Havana 11-28-2005 10:55 PM

Rookies: Those who have been on 0 or 1 challenges.

Veterans: Those who have been on 2 or more challenges.

(Montana was on the first Real World/Road Rules Challenge in addition to the first Gauntlet.)

Greeks that I know of: Ace, Ibis, Robin, Adam and Mark.

Ace was a KA at Georgia Southern University.

Dang, for reals? She was? I couldn't remember if she was on the first challenge, since that was soo long ago---that was when Sean and that girl from the San Fran cast met right?

I guess i'm getting Montana and Elka confused, but both were on the first gauntlet right? Hmm...ergh!! lol

Sister Havana 11-29-2005 10:36 AM

The one you are thinking of is Road Rules All-Stars and that had Eric, Jon, Rachel, Cynthia, and Sean. The first RW/RR challenge aired after that and had Beth S., Jason, Montana, Janet, Neil, Nathan, and Kalle, among others.

not reallly true for the rookies part. this will be ace's third try. on his first one, he was the first person to leave. on his second try, he was the second person to leave. maybe he will be the third person to leave this time.

i think rookies are those who have never been on the show before or those who did not get too far and was booted too soon and had an unfair advantage.

Sister Havana 11-29-2005 02:00 PM

Ace is on the Veterans team, not the Rookies.

If I were them, I'd hate to be labeled as "the RW/RR-er that can't get a life outside of MTV".

Lots of former RW/RR castmembers have become so successful outside of MTV that they often avoid speaking about their reality show experience.

Any thoughts on last night's episode?

Don't worry if you didn't see it...MTV's already replayed twice today and I'm sure they'll air it again 234902384234 more times before Monday.

You didn't miss much...just them determining team captains, the rules of the game, and the explosion from the damned Brit (the one they showed in the commercials).

And dang...? I didn't know Aneesa was THAT trashy.

polarpi 12-06-2005 11:32 PM

It's going to be the usual season of drama ;)

I was shocked by the "twist" of the losing team having to send their captain to the gauntlet, with the challenger being voted on by the winning team - does anyone else see that becoming yet another drama point? :p

Jo was - interesting - last night.

rho4life 12-07-2005 04:31 PM

Jo was a hot ghetto mess. If you want to go home, ok, talk to a producer. don't bother the police b/c you found chocolate syrup on the floor of "your" room:rolleyes:

Rudey 12-07-2005 04:47 PM

Is my homie MJ still shaving his chest?

WTF was up with her!!!!

Its like she just spazzed out all of a sudden.

Derrick seems to become more of an asswipe with each new challenge.

Sad to see Adam go (he was one of my favorites), but what he said at his departure was right on:

"At least Jo was the first one to leave this time..not me!"

Obviously I didn't get all the details last week :p

I think it's even better this way - it does make each "win" more than just about the money or the individual prize, since before even the winning team could lose one of their teammates.

I was hoping Adam would knock Derrick out last night - I originally liked Derrick, but he is become much more of a problem with each challenge he finds himself on...I could see him becoming the new Miz, Coral, Veronica, etc. :p

ASUADPi 12-13-2005 11:13 PM

I saw the first like 15 minutes of the first eppy last night.

What was the issue with Jo? I thought it was pretty funny that one of the rookie girls said she was glad Jo became the captain because she was so levelheaded. (This was after I saw the previews for the next episode in which Jo goes completely psycho and calls the cops). Why did she call the cops?

She claimed that the others in the house were "manhandling" her and that she needed them to come and get her out of there, and she was going to stay in her room until they arrived and took her out.

Please tell me she decided to leave or that she was sent to the gauntlet and was booted.
