It's Really Official! Nick and Jessica are over!

Yahoo Story

I know this rumor has been all over the place... but this time its true. I'm really sad... I was hoping all that tabloid stuff was false. :(

ZTAngel 11-24-2005 01:18 AM

The tabloids have been on fire this year. I usually never believe Star Magazine and its counterparts but it seems that lately they've gotten a lot of stories right.

Unregistered- 11-24-2005 01:28 AM

Ca me pathetic but I consider myself one of the few that wanted Nick and Jessica to stay together!

I'm usually indifferent when it comes to superstar couples. I guess I got really addicted to Newlyweds -- they made an impression!

Maybe now Jessica can get her HOEBAG on!

Me too! I loved that show :(

AChiOAlumna 11-24-2005 02:09 AM

That's so odd since I saw a tabloid today in the supermarket that stated Jessica is pregnant?!

BetteDavisEyes 11-24-2005 02:24 AM

Are we really that surprised though?

LOL! ;) I was watching LOST so during that time, I am oblivious to everything else. Don't worry. I'll be back on the ball again.

Xylochick216 11-24-2005 08:11 AM

I definitely think her creepy dad got in the way of their relationship. He's always around controlling their lives. If I was Nick, I would run far away.

mu_agd 11-24-2005 09:16 AM

I assumed that once her publicist quit last week or the week before it was only a mater of time for this to come out.

Who's to say that Nick had nothing to do with it? One can't help but remember the Superbowl and Playboy Mansion parties Jessica got so pissed of at.

Usually I don't believe tabloids, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's cheated on her already.

Papa Joe could totally capitalize on this. I could totally see her in her own reality show.

UKDaisy 11-24-2005 03:23 PM

I have to say that one of the reasons I see the marriage busting up is Jessica's newly hot fame. I think once she became an A list outside of Nick/Newlyweds- her ego might have grown. I mean, being a C list, virgin for all of those years and then suddenly rocketing to A list hottie must have had some even small affect.

Plus who would want to deal with werid papa Joe!

But I could be totally wrong - for some reason though I just don't see Nick actually cheating on her. Yes, he went out to parties and such - but so did she.

ASUADPi 11-24-2005 06:26 PM

Color me shocked.....NOT!!!!

Saw this coming a mile away.

Since Nick is kind of cute and he has stated he wants kids, he is more than welcome to come knocking on my door. LOL :D

I have heard reports that he already is. He is trying to shop a reality show about her getting back in the dating game. He is a despicable man.

Didn't she start dating Nick when she was merely a teenager? Dating would be the last thing on my mind if I just split from the only man I was with for the past almost 10 years.

She was surprisingly decent in Dukes of Hazzard. Hopefully she can continue to do more movies. She's blown up 1000% recently...I can't really see her going downhill after this. Nick, on the other hand -- have fun in the unemployment line.

honeychile 11-24-2005 08:52 PM

I think we all saw this coming - but it doesn't make it less tragic. Hope they both can pull this off with dignity.

jitterbug13 11-25-2005 01:13 AM

Acutally, I'm sad that they broke up.:( I was hoping the rumors were not true. I also think that a lot of it had to do with Jessica becoming the big star that she is and Nick being known as Jessica's husband. Yeah, and Papa Joe....between him and Brandy's mom...

Well, let me go back and wait until Britany wakes up and smells the coffee...

in line at the grocery store every paper had a different view...they are getting a divorce, they are happy together...it is definately only a matter of time.

i am sad about nick and jessica. i wanted them to stay together, although i could see how she could probably be pretty annoying!

AGDee 11-25-2005 07:10 AM

During Newlyweds, I predicted that Nick would tire of her. He was so much more down to earth. I remember the episode where he and his buddies had rigged a pully to get a piece of furniture to the upper level of the house and it struck me that most people that rich would just hire someone to do that kind of thing. He seemed very grounded. He did the cooking, kept his stuff picked up, etc. She didn't know how to do laundry or cook and was such a slob and just wanted to hire people to do everything. She spent money like it was water and he seemed more reserved with his money. I think those kinds of differences in expectations and lifestyle are hard to overcome in a marriage. Can you imagine her as a mother? He probably couldn't either.

AchtungBaby80 11-25-2005 01:01 PM

I wonder why they went through all the trouble of denying the previous rumors if they were just going to cave and admit they're separating so soon afterward?

And yes, I always hate to see people go their separate ways, but it didn't exactly seem like a match made in heaven, did it?

Supposedly Papa Joe timed it to break right before Thanksgiving in hopes that the holiday would overshadow the news.

I think they went through all the denying b/c they were actually trying to salvage the marriage. It seemed very genuine - I don't know that Papa Joe could even influence Nick on this. I think they both really wanted to make it work.

And call me a complete sap - or just really naive - but I thought they were a perfect couple. You don't find many Hollywood girls waiting for marriage. Even more so, you don't find many hunky semi-famous boy band members agreeing to wait with their future wife. I thought that was very unique in this day and age.

:(

Please. That's admirable and all, but it's certainly not enough to make them "the perfect couple." In fact, ultimately it worked against them -- I think everyone knows that the only reason they got married so young was because of sex. They were a horribly matched couple in other respects, she didn't have enough time to grow up before the wedding, he was so condescending to her, and on the whole, they were a pretty terrible couple.

I'd say that's a pretty fair assessment.

I'd have to agree.

They were like a crap load of other couples who let 9-11 effect them and push them to get engaged. Yes, 9-11 was traumatic but rushing into marriage before you are ready because of a terrorist attack isn't the smartest idea. IMPO.

I never understood them as a couple. I think they were definately physically attracted to each other but mentally I think they just couldn't make it work. Nick went to college (I'm not sure if he gradauted or not though) while Jessica graduated high school and that was it. From the Newleyweds you could tell that she wasn't the "brightest bulb in the bunch". And you could see that Nick was getting fed up with her utter stupidity (is this chicken or fish?) and her wasting of the money (spending 800 bucks for 2 bras and 2 panties because she was jealous, spending 2000 on sheets).

I guess I was using perfect very loosely. Not like God's gift to perfection or anything.

He did not graduate, he dropped out his junior year, I believe. I don't think she actually graduated high school. I'm pretty sure I read that she dropped out and got her GED.

Yeah I knew he went to college (for a while) because didn't he play football or something like that?

I would believe she dropped out and got her GED. I'm sure her parents were more interested in putting her singing career ahead of her education.

On on those specials like Driven and THS, they actually played her off as the victim, calling the kids at her HS vicious because they were "jealous" at her rising success. Apparently she was more well liked as a nobody when she didn't sing -- and was even voted homecoming princess as an underclassman.

I had class with a guy who went to high school with her. He said that she was a huge bitch and that pretty much everyone in their school hated her.

I like Nick a lot. I don't like Jessica at all. I think he will now start dating one hot chick after another. Either way, I think he'll be ok.

christiangirl 11-26-2005 02:59 AM

I didn't read the whole thread so someone may have answered this, but why is it "officially over" if they announced a separation and not a divorce? Did I miss something?

James 11-26-2005 03:24 AM

Hish school educations are over rated . . I think its safe to say that she has had more financial success than most high school grads . . and probably has more life experience also.

I think you missed my point.

She won't be singing forever. Eventually new and better talent will come in and Jessica will be yesterday's news. Plus, she won't have her voice forever. And they way she spends money, like it's going out of style, she needs the education (IMPO).

We could start an entire thread on singing has beens who are now broke and have nothing else to rely on (ie. a college degree).

Brandy's mom came up with the story that Brandy was "married" to Robert. She even had an MTV reality show, "Special Delivery", which showed her being pregnant up to the delivery of Sy'rai, her daughter. After the show was over, Brandy and Robert broke up and she confessed that they were never married and that they only had a spiritual connection.

jitterbug13 11-26-2005 11:46 PM

^^^^
Adding on what Soror Gina said...

She confessed that they weren't married after he announced it on the Wendy Williams Show. He said that they did it because Brandy's mom did want to show that Brandy had a baby out of wedlock.

Also, Brandy was suppose to get married to Quintin Richardson (was with Clippers and Suns, now with Knicks). Rumor has it that the reason they split up because her mom was in the way.

I don't see the issue with the amount of money she spent on the sheets--- yes, by the normal person standards it is alot--- and I am not directing is at ASUADPi, just in general because I have heard this OVER and OVER on tv / radio....

BUT according to Forbes, Jessica earned $4 million in 2004. Therefore her $2000 sheets are about .05% of her yearly earnings. Most of use wouldn't blink if I said I bought a new set of sheets today-nice egyptian cotton - high thread count and I paid $125 for the king set---- well if the average person is earning $50,000 (totally random number) then they would have spend .25% of their yearly incomes. As a % to earnings the $125 pair were more pricey. (yes- my current job title is accountant!)

But anyway, I am sad to see them split--- I liked them. Am I surprised- no! Nick seems so down to earth-- just like a normal person--- Jessica appears to be needy and helpless! But normally I could careless about celebrity couples- but I liked them!

WOW! Talk about a crazy parent. Maybe she and Joe Simpson should have their own show. We could find out who's got the crazier parenting style.

I think part of the problem Nick had with it is that she was in major debt to her record label at the time, probably a few million. He most likely wanted her to work to pay some of that off than to spend it on $1200 sheets.
