T-Shirt Ideas?
Hey Ladies...just needed a few suggestions for Rush T-shirts. Newly elected, I'd like to have an awesome start. Anyone with ideas, let me know!! Thanks!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/redface.gif)
LITP, Katrina Black |
hey, whats up? before you can decide on a t-shirt idea, you should choose a rush theme. once you have a theme it will be much easier choosing a t-shirt idea, trust me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

Hey Katrina! Good luck on your new position!
I agree with aig526 when she says that you should get a theme first. It will definitely help you narrow down your decision-making process. In the meantime, if you need some help there is a website called Greek University.com that does custom made sportswear, and if you call them or e-mail them, they will design a custom t-shirt for you!! Check them out at www.greekuniversity.com. Also, there is a place called teehead tees that has stock items for Rush, formals, etc. I do not know if they have a website or not, but you can look 'em up. Hope this helps! Good Luck! Hey Katrina, I don't know what you ever decided to do about the Rush theme but an awesome shirt that my chapter (ZX)did was a long sleeve shirt with the phrase "On the road of life there are friends and there sisters. Sisters Wanted" I hope this helps, we wore it during rush and it worked.

What are your t-shirt ideas for Fall recruitment???
Just thought that we could use this thread again... PSLAM~Beth |
I saw these really cute bid day ones... if that helps... They aredark blue with a red rose on them. The white print says ( all of it is on the back)
Roses are red, Sapphires are blue, You choose Phi Sig, and We choose you! I've been trying to get our chapter to get them, but ya know how that is. opefully we will get our first chapterwide shirts ths year. |
That is TOO ca-ute!!! Definately have to tell the chapter about that one!
Thanks! PSLAM~Beth |
yeah, sorry to sell out - but greek 101 really has a lot of cute ideas in their design gallery. i know everyone hates greek 101 now because of sorority life, but if you take some time to look around, you might get inspired.

Sparkles -
I dont know, I guess the pledge mom on Sorority Life wears this one shirt all the time that has "Greek 101" written on the sleeve of it. To me, it sounds like good solid advertising for Greek 101, but I guess there are some people on the boards who get offended by that... |
T-shirt ideas for Phi-Esta?
Hi, ladies
Does anyone have any ideas for a t-shirt/sweatshirt design for phi-esta? Because I might be encharge of getting the shirts and I just wanted to know if any chapter had any cute or funny shirt ideas that they used for their Phi-esta? Thank you Annice22 Epsilon Beta |
More Ideas...
We "borrowed" some ideas from Greek101 for our banners this year.
ex: Sisters like these don't grow on trees. (made a big tree with Phi Sig leafs) Phi Sigma Sigma Saving lives since 1913 (made an ID bracelet with FSS in the middle) Individually Unique Together Complete (put girls of all colors... red, yellow, black, green, brown, pink, etc. and they all had blue shirts with FSS on them) Out of all the fish in the sea... Which do you want to be? (made a lil fish for every letter in the greek alphabet, except Phi and Sigma... And then made a big fish with FSS in the middle.) So yeah, hope these help with some ideas for not only t-shirts but banners/flyers, etc. LITP~Beth |
t-shirts
We are trying to put together a fun Phi Sig shirt with some sort of clever slogan. What have you used that is pretty eye catching?
Thanks for any suggestions :) -Theta Chapter |
Shirts
By the way, while I'm begging the SAE boys for shirts from different chapters, is there any chapter here that have any shirts either for sale or to give away?
Oh, and if you have some shirts that don't look too girly, some of the PIKES around here want some. |
Hi White_Chocolate
From my understanding it is against our national policy to let fraternities wear our letters or shirts with our letters and to switch shirts with other fraternities. You can check with the advisor and archon to get the specific details. I hope that you take my advice to heart because I don't want any chapter's to get in trouble. LITP Annice22 FSS |
what national policy are you talking about?
|
The policy is our Phi Sigma Sigma National policy. The part that I was talking about is associated with the "Little sisters" and "Little Brothers" policy. I even spoke with my advisor for the sorority just to be sure and it's true. She said it's also on our National website Phi Sigma Sigma
Even though other sororities exchange shirts with other fraternities we can not. I hope this help if not please go talk to you Archon and Advisor. Annice |
Annice22,
I just want to know where exactly you see this. Other non-initiated Phi Sigs CANNOT wear our CREST. Where in the little brother/little sister policy or any other do you see it. Could it be something that is in your LOCAL constitution? We have never heard of that and have always encouraged members of other fraternities and other sororities to wear our letters (sororities wear them for Greek Weeks and Recruitment). I was just wondering. I was the Archon for my chapter and just wondered if I maybe missed something that our whole chapter has missed since I initiated 5 1/2 years ago. Thanks. LITP, phisigfaerie |
It's not a local thing. Chapter's have been investigated for that. Call Central Office and they will tell. Hey you don't have to believe me but if you get in trouble hey I told you so.
Bye |
I don't believe that the meaning of the policy you referred to applys to what White_Chocolate was talking about.
Part of the little sisters/brothers programs involves (depending on the specific chapter, but the norm from my personal experience) the littles being given a special set of stitched letters after their completion of the program and ceremony. Ex: At my former school with SAE and their Violets the new girls would be given a set of SAE letters with Violet stitched under the letters. That type of letters exchange is forbidden as we are not supposed to be involved in those programs, and would be why chapters/sisters could be investigated and get in trouble. However, if I read her post correctly (please W_C correct me if I'm wrong) she was referring to exchanging shirts that have Phi Sigma Sigma spelled out (from recruitments, Sapphire Balls, socials, or other events) or even shirts that may have been used in Greek Weeks and such that could have the letters on them. These types of exchanges have been OK for as long as I have been involved and if anything they can be a good PR. Tara |
I know that Greek Week shirts are okay to wear cos EVERYONES letters are on them, like I can wear ZTA letters cos mine are on the shirt too... or I can wear a big Sigma Chi cos its a Derby Days shirt and has my letters on the back...
Which is always fun to have a shirt from float, like a Theta Chi one and go to their pledges and say "haha, Im wearing your letters and you cant!" |
Ak,
That's what I meant. A shirt with a theme on it. Like if any of your shirts leftover that say Phi Sigma Sigma. . .2002 Crush Dance. . .Homebound University. . . I just want shirts from everywhere. And I want SAE shirts because I love them to death. I have a lot of social themed shirts alread that I got before I was Greek. So, are they saying I can't wear letters of a fraternity? I have Sigma Nu, Pi Kappa Phi, and TKE shirts. I wear them to the gym, to the grocery store. . .great way to get noticed. |
My intentions were....
Hi
My intentions were not to get anyone upset or mad. I was just trying to make sure that no one got in trouble because I do not want any chapter's to get in any kind of trouble. I love each and every one of my sister's. I just wish everyone a happy winter break and a happy new year. Love and Respect Annice |
we found out that it's okay for a non-member of phi sig to wear the letters as long as you know that they are representing your sorority in everything they do when they are wearing them. . .
so, the thing is to be careful of who you let don your precious letters. . . however, it is not against national policy for them to wer the letters. . .if that's the case, our new members shouldn't be wearing them because they aren't really phi sigs until they initiate. . . |

Shirts
I am in charge of getting rid of all the extra shirts that we have left over form our past events. Well we have 83 shirts. What i have done so far is put pic's of the shirts and what sizes we have and how many of each size we have on our web site. I have started e-mailing other chapters to see if thay would want any. But i feel that i need to do more, i just am taped out of ideas. Does any one have any good ideas?
litp the money lady www.phisigsigex.00go.com go to the photo4 page to see our shirts if you want prices e-mail me if you think that you want a shirt tell me to hold it for you. Because these shirts are going fastThanks for all the girls for buying some shirts but I still have a lot of shirts left over and i still need some ideas. |
Why don't you put a link to your website here? I would take a look!
|
Nice Shirts! I love Phi Sig stuff! My chapter doesn't really do stuff like that any more....
anyway, i emailed the addy that was on the site...hope to hear from ya! PSLAM |
Is that all the shirts you have on the website or do you have more then whats pictured? You might want to add the other pictures on the site so we can see them all and spread the word to our chapter.
The other suggestion is if they don't sell have them turned in to a quilt that can be used at the house. There's a place that turns the tshirts in to quilts that I think is kind of neat - I want to try to do something like that eventually with all my shirts - especially if I lose all the weight I want to the shirts will be way to big to wear so I'll turn them into the quilt. Here's the link for the site http://www.t-shirtquilts.com/1quilts.html |
We don't have a house

No Raised letters
We usually allow the new members to wear the letters that were screenprinted....but NO RAISED LETTERS. That means that someone that is not an initiated sister should not be wearing the traditional 4 inch raised letters with the stitching. Screenprinting is different because those are used for events and during recruitment/greek week. Hope that clears up the difference. And remember, our letters are the most sacred thing we have ;)

Hi there just wanted to put my two cents in here. Regarding wearing letters for non-initiated people. We just had a small discussion about this at Division Conference and Tara can chime in here on the subject too as one of our advisors. We can't stop a new member (or anyone else) from wearing our letters. But in particular we can't stop a new member as that would be hazing.
We're one of the more economically challenged chapters so we don't do things like buy shirts for everyone for bid day etc. We used to do bid day activities and make letters and tote bags with letters with the new members but some sisters in the chapter wanted to stop doing this (i wasn't one of them). We don't hand them the letters anymore but if a new member wants to go out and buy her own, including stitched letters, she can wear them right away. Let me tell you it was very strange seeing our new member Teresa without anything identifying her as Phi Sig, except for her pin, when I saw her on campus. It really hit me this Saturday at Division Conference since we had purchased matching letter shirts and I realized this was the first Phi Sig shirt that Teresa had. I kind of wish we would go back to making bid day shirts and tote bags with the new members, I really miss seeing their pride in being a new member. As for anyone else wearing our letters there is nothing that says they can't. I'm going to make a shirt for my mom with the letters and the word Mom on it, some of the sisters in the chapter that I had told thought I shouldn't do it. My response was that our official supplier now sells shirts with letters and mom or dad on it so why can't I make it. The sisters didnt' know that CO has officially sanctioned that type of shirt. Their not going to understand what they mean the way any initiated sister is going to but mom and dad can show off their pride in their Phi Sig daughter. Finally just one other thing. There has been discussion over on the Greek Life forum about not being able to wear letters. One of the members on there said something that I thought was fantastic. Our letters are precious but they are not our most sacred thing, our ritual is our most sacred thing. Ritual is what sets us apart from every other Greek organization around the world. Carolyn |
My little sister who is probably going to rush Chi Omega or Kappa Alpha Theta this spring wears my shirts all of the time. She has a hoody that says Phi Sig in raised 4 inch letters in leopard print and underneath it says: Legacy.
My mom's little bag is going to have Phi Sig in cow material with Mom underneath There is nothing in our constitution that says that I can't. Otherwise, why do we have legacies and parent's clubs? Especially if they can't wear our letters as advertisements to get new members. |
And here's my bit about this...
I don't think it's right. If they wanted to wear our letter's, they should have joined our organization. With that said, I agree that parent's, legacies, and sweethearts should be allowed to wear the letters, as long as it states underneath "Mom", "Dad", "Legacy", "Sweetheart", etc. And I agree that it should be alright for other organizations to wear the letters on a t-shirt for recruitment or other events... Only because there are other orgs. letters on there too. (And like someone said before, it's in silk screen... not stitched letters.) But I would NEVER give my sweatshirt or anything else with my letters on it, to anyone but a sister!!! Granted, if my best friend was freezing to death, then I'd turn it inside out, and let her wear it... But she is not a Phi Sig, so she will not wear the letters. I think that it is disrespectful to let anyone touch my letters, let alone wear them! Now, with all that said, if someone wanted to wear a shirt that said, for example, "I love PHI SIGMA SIGMA!" That would be different... Because the name is spelled out... I donno... I guess because I have a lot of friends that are in greek organizations that don't take things like this lightly, that it's worn off on me. Well, I just wanted to add my $0.02. PSLAM~Beth |
Ooohhhh!!
I see some grey areas here. Personally, I agree with Carolyn that Ritual is the absolute most sacred thing. Anybody can put our letters on a shirt, but only Phi Sigs will know ritual and the true meaning. We convey our pride in everyday life activities. It annoys me to see mainly "local" sororities use their colors and letters like "gang" attire. We need to stay way, way, away from that. I am quite tired of hearing them say that they have respect for their letters. What does that mean?? I have respect for myself. How can you have respect for a T-shirt??

shirt idea
If anyone has any good ideas for a shirt for an event I need one. I'm usually pretty good at this, but I'm stumped for this one. We are having a "Famous Couples" event where you dress as famous couples or duos like Lucy and Dezi or Laverne and Shirley. Anyone got any cute ideas????? I'd appreciate it.
Thanks. |
How about a romeo & juliet thing using the balcony scene with a background color and the couple/balcony in black... like the scene is backlit.
|
That could be cool! Thanks.
|
Maybe a "Double Trouble" shirt, since it is a couples theme. You could pick a particularly mischevious pair to feature.
|
i think it would have to be a shirt that the guys would want to wear
romeo&juliet is kind of too sappy |
