Greeks in the Military

Today is Veteran's Day. No matter what your personal or political thoughts on current day issues, it is important to remember those who have served and are currently serving in our nation's military.

Today is a day to remember and think about all veterans, but on this forum, I'd especially like to honor those who wear or have worn their uniform AND their Greek letters with great pride.

If you know the name, GLO and time-in-service of a Greek-affiliated soldier please feel free to list their info below so that we can all thank these men and women for their sacrifices.

I actually feel a little guilty that my unit is there but I am also glad, I have 3 kids and it would have been a struggle to figure that all out with the hubby's job :)

adpi*nurse is currently being mustered out of the Army after a few years' stint in Germany. And don't think she had it easy - that's where the severly wounded go, after triage in Iraq!!

Anita Dec is in the Air Force (a major?) from my chapter.

This is also the day my one grandfather died. I wasn't yet born, so I obviously didn't know him - but he wasn't a greek!

A huge Thank you!! to all Veterans, living and dead, who have served our country - willingly or not. Each of y'all need a pat on the back - not just today, but every day!!!

:D My mom called me on friday and said "I'm proud of you" and I was like "Um....what for?" and as soon as the words were out of my mouth I realized what she was talking about.

For the record, I was an IT3 (E-4) onboard the USS Rainier AOE-7 stationed out of Bremerton, WA from 1999-2003. Ship decommissioned 2 weeks after I separated and is now a part of the Military Sealift Command.

Went to Alpha Xi Delta's national convention over the summer and got to meet a fellow sister - Rear Admiral Mimi Drew. It was great....except for the fact that now in our chapter scrapbook there's a picture of me with her and my face is red from having been crying. Oh boy!:(
