American University and Star Jones-Reynolds

This year, Star will have 25 years of experience as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (I peeped in the Membership Directory.) Tomorrow, the show that will be aired was taped from American University where she pledged. It will be interesting to see if the "sorority party" will feature her and her LSs.

(I wonder if she will be in Detroit? or attend the RC to receive her "crown"?)

Kudos to Soror Star and 25 years of dedication to AKA. :D

ETC

cool

Soror Star went to my law school here in Houston. This will be very interesting to see. I will be sure to tape it while I am in class.

aopirose 11-09-2005 12:22 PM

I am watching it now and so far it is a good show. Star is wearing her letters and she said that joining AKA was the BEST decision that she ever made. She said a whole lot more but that was the gist.

Visionary22 11-09-2005 12:26 PM

I am watching. One of the ladies of the View did the AKA call (not sure which one) but Star promptly put her in her place and told her she was not allowed to do that.

NutBrnHair 11-09-2005 12:28 PM

It's great to see that all of the sororities represented at American Univ. are taking part in the broadcast. What good PR for the Greek community.

NUPE4LIFE 11-09-2005 12:59 PM

Does anyone know how I can see pictures or perhaps clips from this episode?

I think it was Meridith who did that. That was too funny. I 'bout fell out my chair when that happened.
It was a nice show and they got very nice gifts.

Yup and after Star told her to stop, she did it again. Star gave her a look that if her eyes had been ray beams, Meridith would have been set on fire.

One thing that was brought up was hazing. Meridith asked Star if she had been hazed. Star said what she went through shouldn't be considered hazing but today it is. She said someone put cooked spaghetti next to her face and told her it was a worm. Next M. asked a collegiate AKA was hazing still going on today. She gave a pat answer about how that isn't allowed in AKA and that it was thanks to Star's influence that AKA has a great policy. Star did mention her work as an AKA national officer.

AKA2D '91 11-09-2005 01:51 PM

What did you REALLY expect?

That was the correct thing to do. ;) :D

luminarysoul 11-09-2005 01:51 PM

Yea I watched as well. I missed the the beginning though.
The pants were a little loud to me though lol:p

I fully agree. I was just impressed that she didn't miss a beat with her answer. If I had been in her position, asked a foolish question on live TV, I may have dropped my jaw first or at least, have that Rumsfeld Stare.

luminarysoul, the pants were bright but it went well with the shirt.;)

DC_Zeta1920 11-09-2005 02:27 PM

I watched the show this morning and I liked how they put the Greek Community at AU on display.

Sidebar: that was my NEO Nadia :D

futurestar1 11-09-2005 02:47 PM

Grrrr

I forgot to TiVo it

Xylochick216 11-09-2005 03:03 PM

I was watching and it was great to see all those letters on display :) I'm sad Joy didn't sport her DZ letters, though. And I kind of wish she and Star had stood up to Alexandra Robbins last year when she was on. But I'm glad that Star is so proud of her AKA background :) It was refreshing to see it on TV.

What happened last year?

AKA2D '91 11-10-2005 09:10 AM

Star's pants were not THAT loud. It was odd, but back in the day my letters would have been made out of that design on my pink shirt, instead of my pants. :o :D

Gina1201 11-10-2005 11:24 AM

I missed the show. :( Does the View ever show repeats?

AKA2D '91 11-10-2005 11:32 AM

They use to on Oxygen.

WenD08 11-10-2005 04:49 PM

the show does repeat. typically around major holidays.

The author of Pledged was on talking about how horrible sororities are, etc. Star defended sororities a little, but Joy (a member of Delta Zeta) didn't say a word. The other co-hosts were talking about how horrible Greek Life was, and Star was the only one saying anything.

I am not surprised Star was the only person to speak. After all, she did write "If you don't stand for something, you'll Fall for Anything." She seems to be the only one on the show willing to share her "View"s, regardless of how others might respond. The other hosts try to be so PC.

StarFish106 11-11-2005 01:03 PM

That is the one thing I love about the show..Star keeps it REAL..she will go there when the others dance around stuff. I like to see what she is going to say next...:D

abaici 11-12-2005 01:00 AM

I was a little misty watching Soror Star speak about AKA. I love her anyway. But, it just warmed my little pink and green heart!

AKA2D '91 01-13-2006 09:02 AM

Did anyone catch her interview with Tom Joyner this AM?

If not, you can tune in online. :o

ladylike 01-13-2006 10:06 AM

I thought she handled it very well. :) She could have really "went there" with Jay Anthony Brown and responded to all his past "jokes", but instead she kept her poise.

AKA2D '91 01-13-2006 10:09 AM

She did! :D

That was one of the better interviews she's done (about this book), IMO.

She was on the Steve Harvey morning show Wednesday morning, and her interview was great. It was nothing but love at the radio station. :D

Star looks wonderful in these pictures!!
