Mariah should win her categories

I mean...Ciara?!? Are nominations based on album sales? Quote:
|
Is it me - or is Mariah a little off-key? MAybe she doesn't feel well....
|
Mariah was VERY OFF KEY and was not hitting some notes too well. Oh and that "slit" in her dress.
|
I missed Mariah! NNNNOOOOOOO! Her and Cyndi Lauper (I'm a child of the 80s) are the only reasons I am watching this show.:(
Instead, my ears are bleeding because I just heard Linsay Lohan sing.:p |
I didn't see the Vibe Awards, but was it as bad as this show? Lindsey Lohan and Hilary Duff can't sing. How did they get res?cord contract? I'm a pretty decent singer maybe I should try and get a deal. Oh wait, I'm not marketable to young white boys and girls. Darn.
|
Dang I missed my Mariah.....
I so could have done without Omarion's Smooth Criminal ripoff I hate to hear Missy Elliott speak:mad: The peopleat this show must have beentold to give standing O's to EVERYBODY tonight... The show is about as boring as the Vibe Awards...... |
Some Hot Mess

And after hearing Lindsey, Hillary and some band came on and made my ears bleed some more.:p
I was so happy to see Erica and Tina win!:D I am so glad that I missed Omarion do Smooth Criminal. I know my best friend was drooling all over the TV. And wonders about my crush on Kanye! Was I the only one who thought they were back in the 80s with Cyndi Lauper and the Eurimics (sp)? And felt strange that Kelly was by herself? And that Missy is trying to replace Aalyiah with Ciara? When did Will Smith became a pop/rock artist? I thought he was a rapper (when he doesn't act)! Dick Clark needs to give up on the AMAs. No one even shows up anymore. Thank God the Billboard Awards are in a few weeks...and we know who will win those!:) Well, at least the last three episodes of Real World were good! ETA: Will Smith question |
I actually liked...
The eurhythmics and Cyndi Lauer...got both of their albums, (but I MUST admit sweet dreams sounds BETTER on the CD than it did live tonight....Cyndi did an EXCELLENT job with Time after time which is one of my old time fav!!!! I grew up and LOVED the 80's music!!!!:D :D
I was also happy to see Erica and Tina win!!! You didn't miss much on Omarion.....I swear is it me or is he trying to become the NEXT usher??? Glad I missed Lindsey and Hillary  I wonder if 50cent is going to comment on what Will Smith said about trying to keep it CLEAN, unlike some of these OTHER artists,,,especially since they were both up for the same award but Big Willie won....I am just WAITING for fi'dy to respond and HATE like he ALWAYS does! The Missy thing...funny you brought that up, I was thinking the EXACT same thing :( Will Smith is more of a pop artist to me than a rap artist in my opinion... Quote:

Yeah, 50 will probaby say something stupid...again. Now he's telling people to buy his new video game for their kids and explain to them what's going on. No one saw his movie, so why does he think that people (kids included) want to play his video game? On the Missy thing...I have been thinking like that since the VMAs. When they won for "Loose Control" at the VMAs, I was like "Dang, Aalyiah should have been up there with her." :( Maybe you're right on the Will/pop artist thing now thinking about it...:) |
Mariah couldn't hear her monitor, so she took it out, hence she was a little off. her stylist needs to go. QUICKLY.
Ciara is NOT the next Aaliyah. Someone please tell her that. Baby Girl was classy and had talent. YES! @ Cyndi Lauper!!! And we get it, Will. You don't have to cuss to sell records, but you let a few words slip in your films. That doesn't make you any better or worse of a rapper than the 50 million others who are out now. Your last album still didn't sell.. WTF was up with Hilary's and Lindsay's dresses? Who told them that they could sing live? Lindsay could NOT and why did she mess up Stevie Nicks' song like that? Omarion: please SYAD somewhere and SHUT UP!! You are not Usher NOR Michael. It's been done already--done better, I might add--by Usher who has waaaay more talent than you. The show was VERY boring.. lol.. |
I'm a HUGE Mariah fan. :D Yeah, her monitor was off, her dress wasn't sewn on all the way, and she was running on stage to her set. So yeah, she was a little off last night but she could still blow most (if not all) of the singers today outta the water. I saw her in concert twice. :D
I tuned in to the AMA at exactly 8 p.m. at 8:05 Mariah's performance was over. After that I didn't even bother to watch the award show because for the most part they are all pretty boring now. |

Ya know,
I watched a little bit and then fell asleep. They might as well bring Lionel Richie back. I read or heard a while back that there was something between this show and the Grammys. Artists could not appear on both. Of course this puts them in an awkward position as folks want to be at the Grammys. But uhhhh, Grammys have been boring lately as well :D |
^^^^^
I think I may know too much about awards shows but here it goes... There were three reasons why the AMAs moved to November from the end of January. 1)Is the situation that Fun4real mentioned. The folks over the Grammys told artists that if they performed at the AMAs, forget about performing at the Grammys. It came to a head a few years ago when both tried to get Michael Jackson to perform. Dick Clark got mad because he felt that artists should perform at both awards and that the people should get to see their favorite artists as much as possible. BTW, Michael showed up at the AMAs but didn't perform. 2) The shift in awards season. The Oscars are now earlier than they have traditonally been, so a lot of awards shows (both Grammys and AMAs) changed their times. 3) Lower ratings. They felt that if they moved it to November sweeps, more people would watch. That hasn't been the case, especally with most artists not even showing up. Like I said previously, Dick Clark really needs to give it up. It was good when it was just them and the Grammys but now with so many award show there's not much of a need for it anymore. BTW, the Grammys (in my opinion) have gotten a whole lot better! |
I didn't want to start a new thread. Did anyone watch tonight?
Can I say I loved Alicia Key's performance? :D Queen Latifah's rap gave me thoughts of U-N-I-T-Y. For a second, I start the opera was a little much but it all came together nicely. Alicia has been creative with the performances, and I'm liking her vibe. |
I LOVED Alicia's performance!!
As an official Beyonce stan, I loved her as well... flaws and all! :D I am in love with Kanye! I understand him. I get where he is coming from and where he is going. Who needs Alexis? Holla at me 'Ye!! :D Rihanna *thumbs down* I just can't get into this chick. Mariah *blank stare* |

Man, I missed it! I don't really watch awards shows like I used to, but I'm always :( The next day when I've realized I missed it. I'll look up the performances on YouTube. Anything interesting happen, though?
|
Usually I am on top of the music awards show, but I COMPLETELY missed this. I was too busy watching Captain Jack Sparrow. :)

Back to the awards: I mostly watched the last hour because I had to watch Cold Case. I missed Beyonce and Mimi. Wasn't really feeling Rihanna last night. It looked like she stepped out of Thunderdome. We don't need another hero....:p The opera part of Alicia's set had me a little . I don't know why. Almost forgot that the Queen could rap. |

I know that Beyonce's performance was on YouTube last night, but I don't know if it's still there. I'm unsure if Papa Knowles has had them snatched up by now. Alicia was great! I LOVED the Queen's rap. I would have preferred the Queen to have on a better outfit, but hey... That's just me. I was taken aback by Katherine Battle as well, but it soon came together for me. |
