Um. When did Oprah become Maury Povich?

jitterbug13 11-06-2005 05:07 PM

OMG!! I will be watching this!! To me, Oprah is getting to be a litttle like Dr. Phil. Thursday, they had the country singer who has been having a lot of problems lately. Her boyfriend almost killed her and then she turns around and get pregnant by him. Oprah told her "you have problems". I was like DANG!!:o

I saw one of the brief promos for this and Terry had that look in her eye when Oprah asked JP a question, and Terry says "Answer the question!" and Jonathan has a(nother) look and says "I'm GONNA answer the question!"

Got the dvr ret' ta go!

btb87 11-09-2005 05:12 PM

Okay. . . I sneaked a few minutes of Oprah here at work. I just want somebody to tell me why is she starting to look like her Spaniels?

No, they didn't get into it. They are actually laughing and being friendly to each other. They are working on being friends, but that is going to be a long process.

Terry keeps making faces at him when he talks though. It is hilarious. :D

AKA2D '91 11-09-2005 06:14 PM

Terry floors me!

Her expressions are always written all over her face. She and I are 2 of a kind. :D

Jonathan is a wuss! He wanted the money, but he did not want to answer the question.

ljkelly 11-09-2005 06:17 PM

I LOVE HER!!!

TERRY IS OFF THE CHAINS!!! She said that he put her at risk by having sex with her and men then Oprah asked if she had been tested. Terry said yes, she said if she tested positive, she wouldn't be sitting there, she would be in jail!!!!!!!  :D HELL TO DA NAWH!!!!!!!!!!:D

For real. It looked like he wanted to cry!!! He probably would have if he weren't concerned about ruining his make-up. Poor guy.

jitterbug13 11-09-2005 06:21 PM

They were more civil than I thought they were going to be. I'm glad they are (and probably will) get to a place now where they can at least be friends.

Terry's expressions were priceless!:D

I wondered if Johnathan sued for the money because his lawyers told him to...

onlyme 11-09-2005 06:30 PM

Did everyone catch the part when Oprah mentioned that they spent the night together? I know they didn't have sex but

ljkelly 11-09-2005 06:37 PM

What got me is when Oprah asked him why he thought he deserves Terry's money...HE WAS SPEECHLESS!!!:D :D

I agree. Oprah was asking questions and he kept dodging them left and right. Terry did such a great job holding back.

My favorite moment was when Oprah asked Terry if she regrets the statements she made in the Tavis Smiley interview and she matter of factly said no.

Visionary22 11-09-2005 09:32 PM

The show was quite interesting. Am I the only one who thinks Terry McMillan with all her gestures is immature? I know she is hurt but good grief-- all of the rolling eyes and throwing her head back and around and around again was unnecessary and made her look foolish.

I do like her "matter of factness" and her "no holds barred nature" but I think she over did it with all the gestures and expressions.

onlyme 11-09-2005 10:02 PM

yeah, she was a bit too dramatic.

Jill1228 11-09-2005 10:16 PM

The show was good! I can't believe how much of a punk azz Jonathan was for not answering her questions.

"People are hostile toward me in Jamaica right now. I would really love to go home to see my family"

Cry me a friggin river

I loved that Oprah called him out and asked why he deserved some of her money. Bruh man don't deserve jack

What was his excuse?

He really didn't have an excuse, he mentioned something about following the advice of his legal team, but that was it.

Tickled Pink 2 11-09-2005 10:49 PM

Ok - Terry looks so hurt by this that my heart aches for her. But, with all the looks - she looks like she's had a little sumpin' sumpin' b4 the show....:p :o Do antidepressants make you that silly?

Jonathan - hot.mess. He has on lip gloss. Unless he was a heck of an actor, he does not just seem metro.

Body Language - you can see she still loves him. She's turned in towards him (unless they told her to do that. Perhaps silly = uncomfortable because the producers didn't want too hostile of a show and made them sit that way  ).

Wow I was thinking the same thing way to much weave in that head!!!

lovehaiku84 11-09-2005 11:05 PM

I do think that there were times when either she was really uncomfortable, or actually connecting with the pain she was feeling instead of the anger. Did anyone else notice how she kind of retreated into herself at times, looking down at her hands, picking at her nails, etc.? Also sometimes in her face she looked more hurt than angry or like she was trying to control those expressions. Maybe that's why she came across as being so extra. I think the fact that she isn't always in the public eye has allowed for her to hold on to certain idiosyncracies and to have a harder time controlling them than if she were say, an actor who is trained to hide certain things that would betray their true feelings. Just a thought.

Wow, you've really thought this through!:D

No, but I agree...and I don't think she was being immature, I think she was being real. I saw the Tavis Smiley interview and I loved how blunt she was and how she wore her heart on her sleeve. It allowed for people to know that even 'strong, black woman, who supposely has it all together' can get hurt. I think a lot of people have grown from her acknowledgement of hurt. Everyone has a story to tell and I am glad she didn't but on a false face to tell hers.

I don't know Ms. McMillan from Adam's housecat, but I think that is just Terry. I have a co-worker that does the exact same thing - she is very animated, and will put you in your place so fast that it'll make your head spin. She gestures a lot, and her expressions show on her face. She is very passionate about whatever it is that she's talking about, and can hold her own with no problem.

I've seen several interviews with Terry, and she seems to be the same way in all of them.
