*tear* O well, I still beat ya on LJ!

As you already know I wanna go!

efcheerBB 11-07-2005 05:44 PM

I just have to start saving money and talk to my grand big (who lives in St. Louis now) to see if she is interested in going!!!

efcheerBB 12-16-2005 02:10 PM

Since National has been brought up in our Holiday thread, I thought that I would bump this one. The question up for debate (or it has been answered and I just don't know the answer) is whether hotel prices are included in the price for Convention... :) :) Since I am still fairly new to SDT and didn't go to Disney World for the last convention, I have no clue what all is included in the price. I think I will email National today :) I'll let you ladies know what I find out

Much love in SDT
Elena

SigDeltSwtheart 01-28-2006 01:51 PM

elena, did u ever hear anything back on this?

xo,
b

efcheerBB 01-29-2006 03:05 PM

Hey B,
They emailed me back letting me know that they were going to send out information in January or February. I haven't emailed them since that email. I honestly forgot about it since I am not able to go anymore--vacation time is already spent at work--If they do email me any info, I will post it for everyone :)

Elena

Buttonz 01-29-2006 05:40 PM

I'm still up for going depending on what I'm doing for the summer (still totally unsure, wanna work at a baseball staduim)

Buttonz 02-01-2006 08:12 PM

I was just told that they don't have a plan for the alumnae to be at convention,. but they may have in the future. If they have in the future then woudl be the best time to attend.

Umm...to me, this doesn't sound well thought out at all. I thought that one of the 'rights' of an alum was to attend convention......

efcheerBB 02-02-2006 08:44 AM

That's what I thought to. That as alum you couldn't attened the Leadership Conference, but that all alums are invited back to Convention. Well, that kind of sucks...I mean, I am not going this year, but if I had had the time to take off work, I was going to go...Maybe in 2008???

Buttonz 02-03-2006 02:11 AM

Yeah, I know...I dunno/...maybe, I'm a lil turned off right now :(

Yeah, what's going on does suck. But remember, the AO chapter led you here to where you met us :) I have been there. It's hard when your chapter goes through something like that. When AO begins to recolonize, get in there and help out. I wish I had had the time to do that... :)

It's not because of AO, but because of the convention stuff more then anything. With AO, I knew it was coming and it sucks, but I wouldn't have gave up that expriernce plus all the wonderful people I've met, both SDT and other greeks. I luv you girls!

SigDeltSwtheart 02-05-2006 01:26 AM

Hmm that is odd -- maybe they just don't have any activities or workshops specifically geared towards alumni, but alumni are still welcome to attend...

Regardless, I'd be going as my position as advisor, so I'll still consider it...

That's kinda bizzare though.

From the way it was said to me, alums are not welcomed to attend.

FreeBecky 02-27-2006 11:25 AM

The National site finally has info for it and the first line says for all alum and actives...

SigDeltSwtheart 02-28-2006 02:01 AM

Just got quite a bit of updated info... I asked about the alum concerns...

Alumni are not only welcome to attend, but are encouraged. Additionally, any alumni interested in volunteering for various conference elements would be very helpful...

Will I be seeing any of you there?

Britt

You know that you would so be seeing me there, but with my promotion I only have so many vacation days and they are already set aside for my friend's wedding and going to Disney World with my family...:( This really stinks that I can't go...

Elena

Buttonz 02-28-2006 03:09 PM

I wonder why I got the answer that I got then....hmmm...I think I'll go ahead and e-mail the national office....there is a chance of seeing me there, but I'm not sure...

SigDeltSwtheart 03-01-2006 11:20 AM

yeah e-mail tami ackerson; it looks like she is primarily coordinating volunteers and alumni. they'll probably send your inquiry over to her.

it must just be a misunderstanding for the original conversation you had. alumni are always welcome at convention; it would have been totally ridiculous for them to change that now.

Buttonz 03-03-2006 08:46 PM

This was from Jill:

The National Office sent me your e-mail that you are interested in coming to convention. To be honest, we don't really have an "alumnae" track at this time, so I am not sure if you would want to pay to come without there being sessions for you to attend etc... I think we will have an alumnae track in 2 years, but we are not there yet.

So that's what I'm assuming the offical word is. I thought about calling Tami (who was our national advisor) but I don't think I am after hearing this from Jill.

SigDeltSwtheart 03-06-2006 05:24 PM

Here's what Tami sent for volunteers... the bit at the end about just being a guest makes it seem like it's perfectly fine for alumni to attend. Will it be the most interesting thing ever? Probably not, but alumni are ALWAYS welcome... I think that is what Jill was getting at...

Britt,

next time I'm home we should meet up...

efcheerBB 04-18-2006 08:00 AM

I'm so jealous...

kddani 04-18-2006 09:03 AM

Sorry to crash, but I just happened upon this thread!

I really hope that your HQ will have more programming for alumnae at convention in the future! I have attended KD's convention as a collegiate, and then as an alumna. They were both very different experiences. It was great to see so many alumnae there- your HQ should know that it's a great way to raise money! They have all sorts of fundraising activities going on, i've seen some alumnae drop thousands and thousands of dollars in donations!

PS- I'm VERY jealous of the low costs of your convention! Ours is always ridiculously expensive; they overdo it with the fanciness of meals, trinkets, etc.

Have fun!

I hope so also! I'd love to go, but it seems that there is close to nothing for the alumanes.

SigDeltSwtheart 04-19-2006 08:21 AM

really? it seemed to me like there is a lot of alumnae-relevant stuff...

as far as songfest/idea fair, recruitment roundtables, hot topics working lunch, alumnae working lunch, and guide to interviewing, those are all areas where alumnae can either benefit from atttending or can fulfill our *other* responsibility as alumnae -- to share information and experience with the girls who are currently active...

Jill told me not to bother coming. Unless it's just that she dosen't want me there.

SigDeltSwtheart 04-19-2006 08:40 PM

Like I said, it still sounds like a misunderstanding. I think it's ridiculous to think she's singling you out and suggesting that just YOU refrain from coming...

If all this were the case, there wouldn't be much point in having an alumnae luncheon -- so few people would even show up that it wouldn't be worth the $ of holding it!

SDTSarah 04-19-2006 09:24 PM

I'll be going! I'm trying to decide what meals I want to have there...lol. I was going to drive, but with talk of gas possibly being around $4/gallon this summer, I think it's probably cheaper to fly.

Buttonz 04-20-2006 02:38 PM

I'd lvoe to go, but I don't know. It's the weekend right after sumemr finals and I leave a week and a half later for Australia...I just don't see it happening.

Maybey our right and it's just a misunderstanding.

SigDeltSwtheart 04-20-2006 04:50 PM

Sarah,

Where are you travelling from? I'm trying to figure out which is cheaper, too... I still think driving will end up being less for me (I'm going with my boyfriend and perhaps 2 girls from the chapter I advise).

I'll let you know what meals I signed up for when I get home...

B

USFSDTAlum 04-24-2006 10:20 PM

I am planning on attending the alumnae luncheon on Saturday. But I live in the area so I'm not making a weekend of it. Hope to see some of you girls!

Christina

SDTSarah 04-24-2006 10:48 PM

I'm coming from Atlanta, so I think it makes more sense to fly. I think I'm going to skip all the breakfasts, since I can just bring some granola bars or something...it doesn't quite seem worth $16!

I'm torn on the awards dinner, though...
