it's dead

no more dancing...

never knew that it irritated so many people...

i usually ignore the things that other people do or say that annoy me, but obviously it is too irritating and annoying, so i stop.

hope everyone is happy...never meant to piss anyone off...

*dances on the grave of dances the _____ dance*

DeltAlum 10-26-2005 10:15 PM

Dance if you please. As many would point out, those who don't like it don't have to read it.

honeychile 10-26-2005 10:19 PM

What DeltAlum said!

We're always telling PNMs and everyone else to be yourself - and if your self includes dancing, *dance away*!!

AOX81 10-26-2005 10:28 PM

Dance away sweetie...I laugh when I see your posts. :)

ladygreek 10-26-2005 10:44 PM

dancing a "needs reinforcement" dance.

Unregistered- 10-26-2005 10:46 PM

If it were really dead, then why start this thread? Just be done with it without having to announce to the whole world that you're done with it! Kinda reminds me of people who post those "I'm LEAVING!" posts because they just want to hear the "oh, please don't go!"s.

Strrrrrrrrrrroke the ego.

I don't care if I don't have to read it. Fucking annoying as shit.

People need to stop picking on people because of their posts...I've been the victim of it and it's getting kind of ridiculous. If you don't like what someone posts then don't respond to it.

Can't we all just get along??

Tippiechick 10-26-2005 10:50 PM

I put her on ignore. That way I just don't have to read the posts. I, too, find it a bit much. It was really quite cute the first five or so posts. Now, it is like nails on a chalkboard. Thank you, John, for giving me the blessing known as the ignore setting.

ETAHANNAH,

This has nothing to do with whether or not I like you. I just can't take all the dancing.

People need to understand that not everyone is going to agree with what is said. If I find something to be annoying, I have the right to say it's annoying. This is a message board. It is a place for discussion. If I want to say the sky is green, you have the right to say it's purple.

But, no we don't have to all get along. That's the beauty of GC.

etahannah 10-26-2005 10:55 PM

intersting to know that people are not reading anything i am posting b/c of something little that i do...not that i am posting anything tremendously important (no one here is!!!)

how is this any different than people who have really long signatures that take up a ton of room... and you have to scroll forever to get through a sig just to read the next reply...???

all my sig has are my greek letters...nothing long and overdone..and people are ignoring me because i type one extra line on a post...

maybe i should have just stayed away from greekchat and not come back...never realized that i was THAT annoying to some many people :(

so sorry

AOX81 10-26-2005 10:56 PM

People can agree to disagree, lets not act like two year olds about it. Bashing people or their posts is really not needed.

Tippiechick is the model poster - she doesn't like what you're saying/doing, she puts you on "Ignore". I have a few people on Ignore - it does wonders for your outlook!!

I concur with Tippiechick - "Thank you, John, for giving me the blessing known as the ignore setting."

aggieAXO 10-27-2005 12:27 AM

oh my f*cking Gawd-if the dancing annoys you then DO NOT read the posts. I find it quite funny actually.

*Karen is doing lots of dancing*

*etahannah dance away*

*dance, people, dance*

*dance away*

JonInKC 10-27-2005 01:12 AM

amycat412 10-27-2005 01:19 AM

You are not annoying etahannah. But if you only did the dancing stuff in the dg forum and then once awhile outside of there, it would be funny like it was in the beginning. i think people just say every post beats it into the ground.

but don't take offense and don't go away from GC.

Doing a "I need sympathy" dance.

I mean dang I don't know anything about your posts from before, but this thread is annoying as heck.

But, just do you and be confident about it. You actually received a lot of positive reinforcement in the other thread, so the threat to leave came across (to me) as a LSE ploy.

It's the nature of MBs. If certain posts bother you then take your own advice and don't respond. BTW, aren't you bashing?

How's it any different than, for example, what Kitso does?

*dances the "361 reasons why this doesn't bug me" dance*

SOPi_Jawbreaker 10-27-2005 04:39 AM

I personally like the dancing and the 361... thing. I think they're creative and I love reading those posts cuz I love seeing what etahannah and kitso come up with...what the new dance or the new 361 slogan thing will be.

Lol, but that DOESN'T COUNT! How often do we see on GC someone try to tell something not to do something WHILE they're doing it themself?

Etahannah, I too may join the ignore crowd. Again, it's nothing personal, but it's just lost any cuteness it may have had. Like I said in the other thread, it would have a better effect if you used it more sparingly. BTW- I too hate the long signatures, but mods don't have power to edit signatures and John hasn't done anything about it. You can turn off sigs in your settings, but then that sucks sometimes b/c you need the sig to remind you what org someone is in.

Does the -361 thing get used anymore?

And people need to stop getting defensive when someone doesn't agree with their posts/posting style/etc.

If you like the way you're posting, post, if you want to change it up, change it up, but let's not play "message board martyr"

The 361 thing... no one said that didn't bother them either. And those were kinda funny tho.

Hannah it's no offense to you. You're a good poster and stuff. I know people get annoyed that I always type in pink but once in a while I tone it down. It's just out of habit to type the code in now.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."

Kevin 10-27-2005 10:13 AM

The 361 thing hasn't been used in quite awhile. Kitso quit posting a long time ago.

Something about annoying dances?

Ask yourself this:

Do you enjoy doing it and want to keep doing it?

Do you care what they think and find annoying?

Do they have to read it?

Do they have the option of hitting the ignore button?

Do they write things that aren't annoying?

The users of Greekchat are not perfect. Don't let the losers convince you of that and get you to change if you don't want to.

AlphaFrog 10-27-2005 11:48 AM

The only problem with the Ignore button is if that poster does post something significant to the conversation (heaven forbid), then the conversation might not flow right and/or things get repeated. And god knows how GC people hate things repeated....

ETA: Just for the record, I don't care either way about the dancing. It doesn't bother me, and it doesn't really make me go "Awwww that's cute"

KSig RC 10-27-2005 12:39 PM

There's a quite instructive story about the great artist, Salvadore Dali . . . in his younger years, he was trying to impress a girl who he thought was very intelligent and moral. Dali felt he had to show this girl that he could be humble and meek, as humility was a highly valued moral value driven by the religions of the time. So, young Dali covered his nude body in feces and showed up at her door - she was not impressed.

I'm not really sure how this anecdote really applies, but the rest of this thread is pretty much self-important "posting to hear yourself post" or "bitching for the sake of bitching," so I figured I would join in.

Glad to see that someone else was also indifferent to the dancing thing. It reminded me a little of a bot on IRC, so I never really paid much attention to it.

G8Ralphaxi 10-27-2005 01:30 PM

Work like you don't need the money,

Love like you've never been hurt, and

DANCE like no one is watching...or hit the ignore button, um...yeah...oh well!

I am always amazed at how such little trival things become such huge issues on here.

Soon I expect a comment that someone isn't comfortable dancing because they are overweight, a response that fat girls shouldn't dance, someone else will say that we just don't understand their dance because we're not in their org so shouldn't comment, approximately seventy-four requests for everyone to get along, a series of random post deletions, but in the end it will be discovered that it was all the President's fault anyway.

This part I totally agree with. So what if she dances (another indifferent person)? So what if it's irritating? Probably so are 1/2 of the posts on here. PM her & ask her to stop - not ream her in open view of everyone for something so trivial. She's not calling anyone names, making racial slurs, not stalking anyone, not being rude, etc.

Trust - there are members of GC that post far more offensive things than a freakin' dance.

She did it to herself by posting an attention whorish thread. Note: I'm not calling her a whore... just this thread.

If I were to post a thread that was basically "woah is me. why doesn't anyone like me" I wouldn't be surprised if people who I'm on "internet good terms" with would start bashing me.

Btw... I like your sig.

Ah, we can dance if we want to,
We can leave your friends behind,
Cause your friends don’t dance and if they don’t dance,
Well they’re are no friends of mine
I say, we can go where we want to, a place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world,
Leave the real one far behind,
And we can dance.

Ah we can go when we want to,
The night is young and so am I.
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise ’em with the victory cry.
I say we can act if want to,
If we don’t nobody will.
And you can act real rude and totally removed
And I can act like an imbecile.

I say we can dance, we can dance everything out control.
We can dance, we can dance, we’re doing it wall to wall.
We can dance, we can dance, everybody look at your hands.
We can dance, we can dance, everybody takin’ the chance.
Safety dance.
Oh well the safety dance.
Ah yes the safety dance.

Ssss-aaaa-ffff-eeee-tttt-yyyy
Safety-dance

HotDamnImAPhiMu 10-29-2005 06:04 PM

I think the dancing is obnoxious.

That said, she should do what she wants. It's a msg board. End of story.

But at this point she looks so immature and the calling-attention-to-it threads make me think I'm probably not real interested in the substance of her threads, anyway.
