Top Sub Places

The Overrated Fast Food Places and Top 5 Pizza Places threads got me thinking about subs. Where do you get your favorite sub/hoagie?

I LOVE Potbelly... soooooo yummy!

Jimmy Johns. Simple, fast, cheap

#1, add onions, salt/pepper - $3.45

Number 6 at Jimmy Johns with no mayo, no sprouts, and onions.

College Sub Station on El Cajon Blvd.....forget Subway, Quizno's, Submarina and Sub Connection, you can't beat TWO footlong sandwiches LOADED with stuff for only 8 bucks. And they taste a lot fresher...

And the joint is owned by a nice Filipino family. Gotta helps my peeeps!

Chain: Potbelly

Local: Dagwood's in Bloomington, IN. YUMMMMM. :D

I don't care what anyone says, I heart Quizno's. The Bourbon Chicken sub is sooo good.

Depends on whether you're talking about a chain or not.

Sub chain:
DeAngelo's #9

Non-chain:
In Boston, Al's and Sammy LeGrassa's are great. My Brother's Place has really good hot subs, as does T. Anthony's
There's a couple of Italian markets in my hometown that make great subs as well.

Bellacino's Chicken or Steak Grinders.

Dionysus 10-26-2005 02:40 PM

Penn Station...that's only because they have other things besides subs! I hate them.

Chain: it's Jimmy Johns hands down. #12 (the Beach Club) sans Cucumbers and Tomatoes every time.

Local: Although I no longer live Boston, my favorite place there was Ideal Sub Shop on Dudley Street near DSNI (Dorchester/Roxbury). I used to work at a school nearby when I did Americorps and we'd go there all the time! Cheapest and best I've ever had. Nothing in St. Louis comes close! Everytime I go visit friends, even though it takes forever to get there--we still go :)

Favorite sub is an oxymoron for me. Perhaps it's too many sandwich school lunches as a kid, but for me sandwiches, including subs, are what you eat if there's absolutely nothing else available. Wierd, I know.

Hmmm, I'd never even heard of it. I'm never really in that area, but I may have to make a trip to see if I like their subs.

National: Subway

Local: Lenny's Sub Shop (bread is nice and buttery)

For the boston area I concur, but whats up with their face lift? I was in boston for a day a few wks ago and I drove past one and thought it was a different resturant....dont know if I like the new logo.

Jimmy Johns is REALLY good. There are 2 in vegas that I keep meaning to hit up but for some odd reason they are not open on Sundays and that always ends up being the time on the trip I have free time to drive out to it.

Mr. Sub.

AchtungBaby80 10-26-2005 07:43 PM

I don't mind Subway, and Jimmy John's is good, too. Don't know about Quizno's or Penn Station, though...never tried them! (But after some of the stuff y'all have said, I'm kind of afraid... :p )

From a native San Diegan, hell yes. :)

Port of Subs, found exclusively in WA state north of Seattle! Blimpies is pretty good too...
