It's becoming REALLY hard to defend soccer

Sorry if I'm not PC or anything, but would YOU wear this to battle?

Imagine the Palermo fan section.....sea of pink.

On the back of the shirt is says,
"Real Men Wear Pink."

Thank God the team I support in Italy only wore their pink jersey for a short time-unfortunately, Juventus wore pink jerseys to commemorate the team's anniversary....I never thought a team would PERMANENTLY have that as the 1st or 2nd kit.

It could be worst. It could be pink polka dot.

Awww come on. Don't knock my Palermo! I never knew they were pink and black till I went to an Italian store in Bensonhurst Brooklyn and saw it. Was a LIL excited that I could buy something and support my parent's home town and also Phi Mu! (yes, the pink sorority, and yes we all pretty much like pink and wear it all the time)

Maybe they wore pink for October's Breast Cancer Awareness......(it sounds good....)

But, I'll always be a fan....regardless of color.

These are Italians, man.

Real men can wear pink, whether they're Italian or not.

Soccer players are real men!

Betarulz! 10-26-2005 12:09 AM

I thought that Palermo had always worn pink...maybe I had that confused with some other team, but I was pretty sure there was at least one Italian team that was pink.

_Opi_ 10-26-2005 03:44 AM

uhmm..who cares?

I still love soccer...especially soccer men :-)

AchtungBaby80 10-26-2005 06:33 AM

Any man that can run up and down a pitch for an hour and a half has my utmost respect--even if he is wearing pink! :p

We used to have a PR campaign for indoor soccer that said something to the effect that "We have 12 men that can go all night long!"

Another was a close-up photo of the back of a model's legs in heels, with a soccer player poised to kick the ball between her legs. It was called the "Hot Legs" campaign!

Speaking of which, they did a distance track of one of the women's National team players during their 3-0 win over Mexico. At the 65th minute, they reported that she had run the equivalent of nearly 5 miles.

ETA: I know it may not have been directed at me, but the topic of the thread was a joke. Soccer's still my favorite sport of all time, and will coach and referee until I can't run. I just know there's many Americans who hate the beautiful game and would use this as a reason to say it sucks....

We knew, Stan - we're just messin' with you! ;) It would be like me saying that I was done with soccer.

It's all good, Stan.

I will defend (no pun intended---although that was my position when I played) soccer until my last breath! Love the game.
