How do Zeta's feel about double membership?
How do all Zeta's feel if a girl was in a Hispanic sorority and tried to be on line with the Zeta's because she didn't feel like the previous sorority wasn't right for her?
|
I am not sure about how ALL Zeta's feel, but I am curious to know if that is even possible? While I know the Hispanic sororities are not a part of the NPHC, I would imagine this would still be a no-no as these are not usually "social" or "Christian" fellowships that do not interfere with membership. It seems like it would be a conflict.
|
Thanks for the input, what would you do?
|
i'm not sure i understand what you are asking when you say "what would you do?"

This Zeta would vote "nay" on that situation. Membership in Zeta is by invitation only to women who have not held membership in similiar greek letter organizations. :D |

this Zeta is gonna have to say da nay-no on that... |
This situation seems to be a growing one...I know that the undergrads that my Grad chapter advise had the same situation. I feel that you choose a sorority ( hispanic or other wise) that is you one and only choice....

Tell your friend do not tell anyone she wants to be a Zeta because she felt her other sorority is not right for her. That is a no no. Sororities are made up of people no sorority is perfect. What the chapter is going through might be temporary difficulties. Instead of running away from the problem, I recommend that she try to find away to improve it. If she believes Zeta is right for her, than I say pursue it. But please tell her not to abandon her first sorority. She will find the time to do both if she is fortunate enough to become a Zeta. |
I believe that she should get a chance. Hispanic sororities aren't part of the NPHC, so this is not illegal. I mean, damn, what's so wrong with changing your mind? Folks change their mind about jobs, schools, marriages, and whateva.

:o at the above location

Strive what ARE you talking about? A social org is a social org and she made her decision when she joined the first org.
|
Highly inappropriate to discuss these kinds of topics
Membership specifics should be directed to the chapter you are seeking to become a member of...or you might get your face cracked. Yes there are rules and the most important one anyone interested in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. should be concerned with is the one that gives her members the right to choose potential candidates. Remember no invite...means no membership. So if you are in 3 social and academic Sororities/fraternities that are non-nphc it does n't matter...if in the end you have no invitation.

It's not our place to prevent her friend from pursuing Zeta. Pursuing Zeta does not guarantee her friend membership. |
For the love of Arizona. Please cease and desist this conversation on here. Gracias. Danke. Merci. Obrigada.

*dancing* Hey Twin, have you seen Seabiscuit? :D
What language is Obrigada? |
It's portuguese! Look at me all multi-lingual and stuff! :D

Have the conversation by yourself I don't care. But the Zetas on this board (you not being one of them) won't be discussing this anymore.

Greekchat Forum viewers - I would like to apologize for my sorors inability to stay on the topic at hand. To my sorors who feel the urge to post unrelated post on this thread - Please start a new thread. The young lady had a question for her friend. That's that. That unnecessary gibberish needs to go. |
Strive check you PM.
|
for the love of the PEARLS! can we please stop giving interests of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. incorrect information?
tell your friend that yes, membership is by invitation, only, and that the last thing she should do is LIE about memberships in other orgs. |
Wow!
I heard about this, but I REALLY did not believe that this was possible. Are you serious?!?!?!? Strive, are you a STAR? If not a STAR or any part of the MYSTIC FAMILIES, please do not start on something else because they and being a Zeta ARE NOT one in the same nor do they conflict as being a member of another Sorority and trying to become a Zeta because they are not pleased with their first choice. What gives me the right to say what I have? I AM PROUDLY a member of a MYSTIC FAMILY, ZETA, and GAMMA SIGMA SIGMA..... none of which conflict with the other, and my affiliation with each was NEVER hidden from the other. To the young lady, who started this thread, PLEASE encourage your friend to be forthright in her intentions and do as my Soror Finer...... said..... for her to speak with the Zetas on her campus who can lead her in the RIGHT direction. If she tries to play slick and deny what very well may have been a HASTY MISTAKE....... it is very likely that she will be found out and given a VERY HARD way to go on campus. **Please note, that this post is not an attack on anyone nor their opinion. As others, I am merely stating mine. Thank you all. Stay blessed and have a good day. |
Thank you and good night!

One soror mention that a social org is a social org. Eastern Star is a social org in a sense. I just use Eastern Star as an example of a social org. No offense intended. Second, I see no conflict with the young lady's friend being a part of Zeta and her Hispanic sorority. From my understanding of the post, the young lady's friend belongs to a non-NPHC sorority. Her friend has the right to pursue Zeta all she wants to. Pursuing Zeta and being accepted to Zeta are two entirely different things. |

First in foremost I would like to commend you on your courage to even step forward and ask an earnest question. However for questions such as these I believe that it would be best to talk to Zeta's that are active on your campus, someone from greek affairs or contact nationals and ask your question. When you post questions such as this on a website you will recieve a lot of mixed messages and possibly some other uneccesary mess.. I wish you the best in your quest for information. God Bless *Strive* Whats up Sis? I am feeling your posts...do your thing and be successful at it! |
Chaoz,
I am not sure who you are, but the best advice given regarding membership is pretty universal on Greekchat... and that advice is simple-- 1. Check the International official website for answers 2. Speak to members of the chapter where one is pursuing interests. One would NOT contact Nationals for membership issues if one is not a member. The International Headquarters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is the administrative office of the membership not the clearing house for random information on "how can I be down inquiries made by non-members". The International website provides more than enough names and contacts for non-members if they have questions or are looking for a chapter. Nor should an interest contact Greek Affairs office to find out specifics on any organization. The only information a Greek affairs office will provide is whether said organization is active on the campus and perhaps some random statistics about Greek life on said campus. Chaoz, when you get a moment, please introduce yourself to the board in the thread "Allow me to introduce myself". If your "sis" reference to Strive implied you are a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. The rest of your Sorors would like to know who you are and where you are from. Best, FinerWoman10-A-91 Quote:

Re: Re: How do Zeta's feel about double membership?
yeppers....... you took the words right out of my mouth. In addition, you don't just "change your mind" after you join your organization or say "this doesn't quite fit me.... you should know this before hand
