Baby Sitting a Dog?

Wicket is a Yorkie!

My Best Friends daughter and Boy Friend is going OUt of Town!

3 Days with Pooch, strange they felt better with Me than thier Best Friends.

Hell, I will be up all night thinking I need to take Wikie out to Pee.

Told Dawg, He, I am the Master of the house be good.

Oh Shit, just looks and goes Know Your Self Out Ass Whole!

He is Cute!

Any wannabee baby sitters want to come in?:D

Tom Earp 10-14-2005 05:59 PM

Good, Dawg is ignoring Me and watching HGTV! Hell better at fixing shit than I am!:)

KillarneyRose 10-14-2005 06:14 PM

That sounds like fun, Tom!

My neighbors have a Chocolate Lab puppy who is about three months old and I go over every afternoon and let her outside to pee. I have so much fun; we play fetch and roll around on the floor together.

But my dogs get really pi$$ed when I come come since they can tell I was "with someone else"

Tom Earp 10-14-2005 06:24 PM

Oh Hell Yes! New experience for Me! Better than being Marred!:)

Wickie is findin a Home, Chair in Living Rom untill I fix dinner! Planned something bigger but with Poochie, a may do Easy Meal!

Actually woried about what to do with Wickie over night!:(

Bed Or Cage?

KillarneyRose 10-14-2005 06:31 PM

I'd say a cage because he'd probably feel most secure in a small, enclosed space. Don't forget to put a blanket or towel in so he has something soft to sleep on!

Rio_Kohitsuji 10-14-2005 06:42 PM

OH!! I love doggie sleepovers! So much fun :) I second KR's notion of going w/the crate, just make sure it's comfty w/a toy or two in it :) Just make sure to get up in the morning nice and early to let him out to do his business!

Tom Earp 10-15-2005 03:37 PM

Day Two:

Naked to let Wicket out to pee in the AM, very early! That is after I told Him to shut up @ 11:00.

Felt so bad about "THE CARRIER" that I left Him out while I went to work. No Poopy or PeePee in House that I could find! Whew!:D

Got Home and let Poochy out, Hell I would have to go like a cow pissing on a flat rock if I had to wait that long.:(
Opened the window and let Him get on the chair I moved so He could get on the window sill to chack out the real world.

He was interested in Little girl next door so took Him out so She could play with Her. He is a Male dog!

Came back in and is in the window sill! Thank Goodness.

Likes little carrots. Really. Well another Night coming up and not sure what to do, in Kennel or out. If gets in My bed might toll over on Him/It!

God, what a little shit dawg. Cute to be sure.:D

Not sure what I will do to entertain Wicket for the evening!:(

KillarneyRose 10-15-2005 04:47 PM

Tom, don't feel bad about leaving Wicket in the carrier while you're at work. Honest, he'll feel comfortable in there.

You're lucky he didn't leave you any "calling cards" while you were gone! :p

Tom Earp 10-15-2005 04:56 PM

I Know, He is such a cute ""LITTLE"" Shit!:)
Also very good!

How many Dawgs Love Little Carrots?

He goes Nutdsoid. I would to give another but dont know if makes Him PooP!

Has been special.

He is cute and quiet but feel like I need to play with Him.

Now, I wonder about leaving our of K tonight. May try it as dont like to cage!:(

If He gets in bed and squashed, I will be devstated for sure! :(

EtaPhiZTA 10-15-2005 08:26 PM

I know what you mean, Tom. When I am gone during the day, my dog stays in his kennel. Like KillarneyRose already said, dogs do feel comfortable in their cages; I think it's a security thing.

Anyway, at night my dog does sleep in my bed. His favorite spot is in the middle between my husband and I, but he usually settles down at the bottom by my feet. I think he knows that's a safe zone.

SmartBlondeGPhB 10-15-2005 09:25 PM

A friend's dog LOVES vegetables, all kinds (and fruit).

The dogs my parent's have had ahve always been fine over night (no need to go out) and one didn't even have a problem being in the garage all day long.

I think it all just depends what they are used to.

Sounds like you need to get your own dog Tom.........

Tom Earp 10-16-2005 12:06 PM

Day three! Wickit just dont get No lovin from Me! LOL!

Scared the heck out of me when I rolled over and guess WHO was in bed. Didnt have the heart to leave in Carrier. Scared the Hell out of both of us!:)

Woke up as usual on Sunday at 5:30 to go to the store and couldnt find Him. Finally did after a seach and He was in laundry basket sound asleep.

Reading paper, Wickie was in My recliner with me while I read the paper.:)

God He loves Carrots and goes Nuts when I go to the Fridge and say carrot. Trying to type and have to give rubs of love to Him. Left the Front door open so could look out and see what is going on. He has had a lot of that lovin feeling here latley!:)

Wonder waht Mindy and Joe would say if I told them Wickit ran away while they were gone!

Oh, better not, can have visitation rights anytime!!!!!

Oh, must be a footbal fan. Likes Fox Sports with Terry, Howie, JB, and Jimmie!

texas*princess 10-16-2005 12:08 PM

It sounds like you're having fun puppy-sitting Tom!

Tom Earp 10-16-2005 12:12 PM

An experience for sure!:)

Tom Earp 10-16-2005 01:45 PM

Damn Kids got home early!

Wicket is gone!:(

Cried as miss Him!

Oh Well, am sure I will sit again in the future!:)

Rio_Kohitsuji 10-16-2005 09:25 PM

Tom, dude, you need a dog :p

Here's a plan, get a dog like lil Wicket, that way you get to see him again through playdates w/your dog, and you have your own puppy pal :)

Oh, my beagle puppy LOVES carrots too, frikkin' crack to him!

aggieAXO 10-16-2005 09:42 PM

Just a note: grapes, raisens, onions are all toxic to dogs (possibly cats as well though most cats won't eat these foods, lily plants are toxic to cats).

I agree -Tom you should get a little foofoo dog-save one from the shelter :)

honeychile 10-16-2005 10:23 PM

Tom, the next time I need a sitter for Buffy, you're going to be high on the list! He hates the crate, doesn't piddle inside, and loves to cuddle & have his belly rubbed.

And he is a serious CHICK MAGNET!! ;)

http://files.dogster.com/pix/dogs/58...1129131752.jpg

He'll also share your bed...!

texas*princess 10-16-2005 11:22 PM

my baby fluffball LOVES carrots and apple pieces too.. she's a silly pup!

I think you should get a dog too tom!!

Tom Earp 10-23-2005 11:38 AM

Damn, Wickets Mommy keeps bringing over care packages for dinner.:D

I think they want Me to sit Wicket for 10 days over Thanksgiving. That is a damn long time and worries Me. How do You enterain a Poochy that damn long? What if it snows?

Her Dad My Best Friend just said"Oh You Will You Pussy"!

etahannah 10-23-2005 11:43 AM

my dogs love carrots too!! they get them all the time!! good for them too -

they arent reall my dogs - they are my best friends dogs - i babysit them when he goeson vacation with his fam - i watch his parents dog too...

i live with him and now he has two dogs - i have to watch them at night while he is at work...

the puppy is a handful! but they are good overall!!

good luck with your puppy sitting

Sister Havana 10-23-2005 10:30 PM

If Wicket is anything like Barney, he will love the snow and want to play in it all day. :D

You must post a pic!

Tom Earp 11-20-2005 01:12 PM

Well, The Wicket is back in The Earp Abode for 10 Days! Got here Fri but no Carrots for Him with Mindy!:( So went shopping today and first on the list was You know what!!

:D

Let Wicket out Sat. Morn. and went in to take a shower and then get Him in!

Shit, someone was knocking on the bathroom door while in the shower and it was Mindy!

Hey, I saw Wicket out in front and wanted to bring Him back in! This is from the Girl who left Him out for two hours and forgot Him. Why are the COPs out there? Hell, I didnt know and had to go open the store.

Oh, well, I keep falling asleep and not giving enough attention. Reading Sun. Paper and had to snuggle up in recliner with Me.:)

He is such a good little shit dawg hard to get upset with him!

We are going out Thanksgiving to Bookems and Debbies (Mindys Dad and Step Dad) and He can see His Mom and Dad. God, I hope they get along!

Do Bowsers like Turkey if it is cut up in teeny weeny bits?

Damn, I got to go play with Wicket, I feel so sory for Him just laying around all of the time with Me. He didnt like the window ledge this morning.:(

So now in Chair snoozing while I am on GC!

KillarneyRose 11-20-2005 01:34 PM

You must have done a good job the first time around if Wicket's mom and dad asked you to watch him a second time! :)

honeychile 11-20-2005 01:48 PM

Tom, Buffy's vet says that turkey isn't good for dogs, but we're going to ask again - just to be sure. I'll guarantee that Wickets will go crazy from the smell, though! :D

As for the snow, Buffy either avoids it (when it's too tall - he'll do #1 through the deck railings!), or dive bombs into it! The one thing that you'll just love is that, if it snows hard, be sure to wipe Wickets' paws if anyone has salted their sidewalk!! It's poisonous to dogs - especially little doggies!!

AGDee 11-20-2005 02:15 PM

My dog's toothpaste is turkey flavored, but I don't know if there's any real turkey in that...

Tom Earp 11-20-2005 02:58 PM

Called Wickets GrandMa and Pa asked about Chili! Hell rained on My Head for that one!

Turkey is OK in ity bity bits, but not much.

He finally ate some of His little dog food! Hell, He is only 3 lbs. Have given Him 3 little carrots but was told cut back!

Now, it is getting colder, so I guess Wicket and I will have a Fire in the Fire Place. Did that last Night and the sneaky little shit slipped out the Garage Door. Couldnt find Him. Hell, talk about being Panicked. Neighbor with one eye saw Him, chewed some major butt out.

He did take it Well. Just looked at Me and almost said, Hey what the Heck is the damn Problem?

I will take vistitaions!!!!

See, Buffy's vet and my brother's dogs' vet give us entirely different advice! We heard that onions & turkey could kill a little guy like him (he's 17#), but that he'd have to eat the equivilant of an entire bar of baker's chocolate to get sick. Calvin heard the complete opposite, only his dogs are Dobermans.

I think we need to see a photo of Wicket!!! Tom, you're welcome to post it in our ADPi Pet Thread, if you'd like! :D

AGDee 11-21-2005 07:17 AM

The amounts of anything that are toxic to a dog varies by weight. My 92 pounds malamute ate 2 pounds of milk chocolate while home alone one day. She was very sick for a day or two, but was ok. When I called the vet, he said, because of her weight, she would need 9 pounds of milk chocolate or 2 pounds of baking chocolate for it to be fatal. He had looked it up by weight.

Sammi gets very little people food. Carrots and peanut butter are her treats when we go away. She eats an occasional pancake. She eats whatever else she can get a hold of, but that's not much.

adpiucf 11-21-2005 11:26 AM

I loved dog sitting for the longest time... and now I have my own dog! :)

Buttonz 11-21-2005 02:18 PM

Baily & Rusty love the snow, I have tons of pics of them in the snow from last winter. Snowbell is to small to really take out and let her enjoy the snow, but she enjoys it whenever we do.

They get chciekn about once a week or so, besides that they will get bread or veggies from time to time, but rarely.

Tom Earp 11-21-2005 05:35 PM

Damn Dawg.!!!!!!!!

Let Wicket Out to do His Thing-Pee and PooP Sun. Night. Had a nice Fire in Fireplace!

He would not come in. Had to go get Him!

christiangirl 11-26-2005 03:23 AM

I've sat for a cat once...I had to come by and feed it everyday in the morning and again at night. We had fun, I'd lay on the couch and read while he napped on my legs for a couple hours.

Sister Havana 11-26-2005 11:20 AM

So did Wicket have fun going visiting? :)
