Campus Pics

There is a thread on pictures of Greek Houses, I thought it might be nice to share pictures of your campus...

Following are pictures of Ohio University, Founded in 1804 at Athens, Ohio.

Konnecker Alumni Center, donated by Delt Brother Wilfred Konnecker and family. It is just down the street from the Delt Shelter and Galbreath Chapel. You could say that if you drew lines to conntect the three, the line would form a Delta.

Oh my gosh that campus is gorgeous!

I would go take pictures of my campus but they would pale in comparison...

Thanks for the comments. Moe, your campus looks pretty good! What school is it?

If there were a prize for ugliest campus in the world, MIT would win it hands down. You wouldn't think we have an architecture department.

Okay...

Killian Court in the spring - this is actually quite pretty. This is where commencement is held.

This photo truly makes it look very bleak. However the first one,the spring photo,is actually very nice.

and DeltAlum,I was watching a program about Ohio University/Athens hauntings just the other day. Is Athens as haunted as they say? As shown in your pictures,it is obviously a beautiful campus. The program,of course, made it out to be a very sinister and creepy.

ohhh.... I don't think SFSU would win any awards for campus beauty either. All of the buildings are painted weird colors and it's such a mish mosh of different types of architecture from the 50's when it was built to the newer buildings built in the last 5 years as the university grows that it just looks like the buildings were imported from another place and dumped on university property.

the jailish looking library

the weird ass student center They seem to be really proud of this building, but really it's just weird looking to me...

I couldn't really find any pics on our website, but I googled them and found a few. Since we're on Henry Ford's estate land, our campus is actually pretty nice. Behind it is preserved and has his mansion which is now a restaurant, and a few of the play houses he had built for his children. The land is also gorgeous. There's a pond and stuff and I guess somewhere back there there is a waterfall. A few of my friends have seen it but I never have.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/phildo/ssc.jpg

used to be the School of Management. Now it's the Social Sciences Center or something. One of the newer buildings and really nice inside.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v51/phildo/casl.jpg
This is the newest building that was put up. College of Arts Science and Letters building. Most freshman classes are in here. Actually, most classes on campus are here except a few psych classes, and all engineering is in another building, and management and education are in another building across the street and some (not walking distance). They acquired the building from Fords.

The buildings are being renovated constantly and I think they're building a new engineering lab.... even tho the other one is new. The campus really caters to engineers.

Athens is supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the world. But the town isn't creepy really. In fact, it's the prototypical small college town and a wonderful place to go to school.

To be honest, though, there was a men's room in the basement of Kantner Hall (Then known as The Speech Building) where the old radio station was located that kind of gave me the creeps for no particular reason.
http://www.ohiou.edu/athens/bldgifs/kantner.jpg
Kantner Hall

I'm sure they also mentioned Wilson Hall where a young woman died and very spooky things happened. It was right next to the dorm I stayed in as a freshman on the West Green.
http://www.ohiou.edu/athens/bldgifs/wilsonres.jpg
Wilson Hall

And they always mention "The Ridges" which was a former state mental hospital complex which overlooks the campus. There are lots of rumors of murders, suicide, etc. in the buildings there. The area was given to the university after I was there and now houses a museum and number of other departments. In my time, "The Asylum Grounds" as it was know was a great place to "park."
http://www.forgottenoh.com/Ridges/ridges-hist6.jpg
An old picture of the Athens Mental Health Facility
http://www.ohiou.edu/athens/bldgifs/lintowers.jpg
A Building at "The Ridges" today.

There is even some talk about some haunting of the current Delt House. One of my pledge brothers was killed in an automobile accident during our pledge period, and there was allegedly a seance later where some spooky things happened. I wasn't a part, and can't confirm that.
http://www.oudelt.com/deltcup2k3.jpg
Delt Shelter at Ohio University

There is a sorority house that was allegedly a stop on the "Underground Railroad" during the Civil War and it is allegedly haunted by a slave who was killed or something.

The only thing I did there was "haunt" the local pubs.

But thanks for asking...
