Sorority Girls that Smoke Cigs while wearing letters

trashy or not?

AlphaFrog 10-04-2005 12:10 PM

I think it's trashy...but then again I think smoking is trashy....

Lindz928 10-04-2005 12:12 PM

We weren't supposed to smoke in our letters. While I was an active, our exec went so far as to tell people not to smoke in their cars that had letters on them.:p

I'm not gonna pass judgement on people who smoke in general, but I suppose it's probably better not to do it while wearing letters.

33girl 10-04-2005 12:15 PM

I see nothing wrong with it. As with drinking, if you think it's so wrong you shouldn't do it in letters or out.

Maybe up north where people are a little more trashy would it be acceptable but not in the South or in Texas. Ever notice how women up north smoke cigs ALL the time? I've always wondered if lipstick sales are higher in northern states from all the lipstick wasted on cig butts.

33girl 10-04-2005 12:30 PM

I don't think overall trashiness is restricted to one part of the country.

ISUKappa 10-04-2005 12:31 PM

We had to be off property and cover our letters if we smoked.

KSUViolet06 10-04-2005 12:32 PM

I think ALL smoking is trashy. This isn't really an issue for us because we only have one or 2 girls who smoke, and they agreed not to do so in letters on their own. We as a chapter, however could not force them. We discourage smoking in letters, but don't forbid it. Smoking IS prohibited on our property, unless you are on the back patio.

Lindz928 10-04-2005 12:34 PM

We had a problem in school with our house mom smoking. She would sit on the front porch of our house smoking, in our letters. We asked her not to do it in the letters or near the house.

She might have gotten offended, but she wasn't a very nice lady to begin with.

AUDeltaGam 10-04-2005 12:36 PM

Trashy- and we had it as a rule that we could not smoke in letters.

I agree. There are definately some trashy ass women in Texas... But I don't think whether or not they smoke has too much to do with it. It's more the acting and dressing like a skank that gets me. :p

33girl 10-04-2005 12:38 PM

I think hypocrisy is trashy.

cashmoney 10-04-2005 12:39 PM

I wondered if houses discouraged it or not. Take ZTA @ UF for example; every time you walk by their house there are at least 4 of them smoking cigarettes in front. I don't know if its just because I'm only in that town during football games or if its a regular things for them to smoke in front of their house, but I just think its a little trashy.

Chicks in texas always have missing teeth, ever notice that? Some of them try to fool you by having fake teeth put in. First time I met a hot chick who had 2 fake teeth I freaked out when one of her teeth came out and she had a big hole there. I started screaming.

Lindz928 10-04-2005 12:41 PM

I do think MOST houses would discourage members from smoking in their letters. But, I can't really comment on what the rules are at other schools. I just know what the norm was at mine.

 I don't have fake teeth, or missing teeth. And, I don't think I know any Texan women who do.

Though, I did have an ex who had one fake tooth.... His got knocked out playing soccer or something in high school.

a.e.B.O.T. 10-04-2005 12:43 PM

smoking is trashy... and I am a smoker... and well, then I would never be allowed to wear my letters... although it would be a good tactic to help quit...

OtterXO 10-04-2005 12:44 PM

When i was going through rush I distinctly remember walking by one house on my way home and saw about 10 of the actives still in their rush outfits...smoking. I had dropped that house the same night for other reasons, but it just looked SO tacky that I was really glad I had already dropped them. I don't think there's ever really anything attractive about smoking...and it's certainly still not attractive when you're representing an entire group of people. I would have been pissed if I had ever seen someone smoking in my letters.

Rudey 10-04-2005 12:52 PM

Tackiness is not something many of you have a right to speak on unless you're willing to finally admit you're speaking from experience.

We weren't allowed to smoke while wearing letters nor were we allowed to smoke in front of the house. We had a back patio on the first floor & a deck on the second floor of the house where sisters were allowed to smoke.

As for recruitment-you weren't allowed to smoke all day since we didn't want any of the girls smelling like smoke. When I smoked (I've since quit smoking regularly) it was torture on lunch breaks to look outside our back door & see girls from other sororities lighting up cigarettes on their porches while we couldn't smoke!

tunatartare 10-04-2005 12:58 PM

I think smoking is disgusting, but I don't think that smoking while wearing letters is any worse than just smoking in general. I've seen lots of girls smoking in their letters, and it doesn't make me think less of them. Like 33girl said, if you think it's so bad, you shouldn't be doing it, in letters or not.

Yeah, it's not like I'm herpes.

I will admit that I have smoked before.... One of the reasons that I won't judge the trashiness of smoking in general.

I didn't do it in my letters, and I can see how some people would be bothered by it. But truth is, there is someone out there who will be bothered by just about anything.

Truth be told, I suppose I would rather not see someone smoking wearing my letters, but I don't think it makes TOO much of a difference.

Well actually it is sort of like herpes. You come on strong at first and make the person feel sort of sick and then just when the person thinks you're gone, another outbreak in the nether regions. That's actually quite a good comparison. :p

ETA: you made the comparison, not me...LOL

I hooked up with a girl on the basketball team once. She was rather tall.

I've never made any moves on girls on the football team though.

I'm really not the best morality judge, but people complaining in this thread have been seen on this website, with the letters blazing, talking about some rather hot topics.

I don't name names of course.

Whatever, if you're just trying to be an asshole to me then that's cool. I have a question for you though, is it absolutely necessary for you to follow people around this board just to put in your snide little comments? Clearly you don't know any of these people past their screennames, so you may want to check yourself a little bit there buddy.

I didn't make any comments about you, haven't named you, and don't appreciate your cussing or accusations. :(

By the way, I'm not in the friends business nor am I in the online sex partner business.

hi Otter :)

I think you rule. Are you going for the Padres? I am watching the game right now. We losing :(

Want to be my friend? We can make fun of Rudey. :)

 Whatever. It's just completely unnecessary to say the things you do. And I'm talking DIRECTLY about the things you've said to me.

Corsulian 10-04-2005 01:31 PM

People around here don't particularly care about smoking--many do it, just as many don't

It's northern Virginia though--right between your "trashy" north and "classy" south

May I ask what they were (don't confuse my comments with anyone else's) and why you chose to bring them up in this thread?
