Who is rushing in Spring 2006?

http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys2/00009158.gif

Boy, does time fly! I have really enjoyed doing the tallies for fall rush. I have GOT to be a glutton for punishment! :D

There are quite a bit of schools that do deferred recruitment, especially on the East coast. They will be rushing starting in November, so now is a good time as any to start the Spring Rush thread.

As you can see from THIS THREAD many wonderful folks have found their homes this past fall.

Remember:

1. Discretion is the key
2. Discretion is the key
3. Did I say discretion is the key? :D There are times it can make or break you! Remember, you NEVER know who is reading the thread(s). What you say or do can and WILL be held against you.

PNMs might want to check out these threads and heed the advice

Your great, but isn't this a tad bit early?

I'm hoping my sister will go through rush, but I don't know about her or her roomates yet, I will keep you updated. Rush here is in December.

Jill1228 10-02-2005 02:30 PM

probably! :) I think Purdue starts the first half of recruitment in November though...

I know one of the schools does

My sister will be rushing this spring! I'll have to do a thread for her once it's about that time. She's not a message board person, but I'm an addict!

She's at Millikin University where they do formal rush in the spring for freshman but also do something else in the fall for upper classmen. I'm sure it's not formal, but I'm not sure if it's invitational/structured or more informal. My family's becoming quite panhellenic, we now have a DZ(grandma), and ADPi(mom), a Sigma Kappa (me!) and my sister's choices are AXO, Tri-Delt, and Pi Beta Phi.

SmartBlondeGPhB 10-02-2005 03:15 PM

UPS has their recruitment in the Winter as well (not necessarily "spring" recruitment). The website is horribly out of date (04-05 calendar) but I'll post if I hear anything about dates.

Indiana does. 19-party in November, the rest in January. It's weird.

Word. Purdue had theirs around Labor Day weekend, I believe.

oceanphi01 10-06-2005 08:15 PM

Okay, so I know this is early (since I'm the one who kinda requested this thread...sorry y'all), but....

...it sounds like my sister will most definitely be going through recruitment in the spring. Not sure about her friends, but I'll definitely start a thread for her when the time comes.

I'm so excited!! She was way excited to go to an information session Tuesday.

Yeay!!!

GtownGirl98 10-14-2005 10:45 AM

Georgetown College, Georgetown KY

GC will start in January. They are really working on building and promoting greek life. Hopefully it will be a great turn out for everyone!

AutumnStar 11-02-2005 06:29 AM

I'm actually thinking of rushing this spring. Though I don't technically know how it works at my school. I heard that not all the houses participate in spring rush, but even so I'm still very excited about meeting all the girls.

FuzzieAlum 11-03-2005 04:05 PM

Is there anyone rushing at Vanderbilt?

RedRoseSAI 11-07-2005 05:28 PM

My cousin is rushing at Indiana! They start this weekend...I'm so excited for her!

princessnerdy 11-08-2005 02:01 AM

apparently northwestern university has a first round of recruitment this weekend, I just volunteered to help out! sunday nov. 13

PhoenixAzul 11-08-2005 09:40 AM

Otterbein Recruitment is starting the first week of January. As of today there are 36 girls signed up ( ), but we're hoping for the last minute push. The guys started sign ups yesterday (We've been doing them for about 4 weeks now!!),

AutumnStar 11-16-2005 03:00 AM

Ok it turns out it will be winter 2006 not spring.

Jestor 12-06-2005 11:53 PM

Does informal rush count?

Jill1228 12-07-2005 03:25 AM

Yup!

I think that tech. everyone "rushs" in the Winter (January/Feb) but because most schools call it Spring Semester, most of us refer to rush as a spring thing. At least that is why GtownC calls it Spring Recruitment.

I am looking forward to the threads this year. I think that this will be the first year that I am not as "involved" as I have been in the past... due to location and jobs. So if anyone is rushing at GC, don't worry about posting. I think that I am the only one from there on here anymore and I won't let anything on here get back to anyone there. I don't mean be evil or anything but you don't have to hide all aspects of the parties or anything. I know that there might be one or two PNMs on here. Also I will answer any questions about recruitment but not about the individual groups (ie Chapel Day = Bid Day, Do I need a white dress for Chapel Day? Answer... No)

PM me anytime!

Hehehehe...put my little sister down for recruitment at Georgetown...she's turning in her forms tomorrow.

I'm so happy!!!!!

Buttonz 12-09-2005 12:32 AM

One of my friends on my floor is currently going through IFC rush right now...I'm not sure if this counts as Winter or Fall.

There is only 1 out of the 3 frats that are on campus that he is intrested in...it's a good frat on campus and has a chapter at the campus I was initiated at, so I wish him all the best.

I wish I was able to convince my sister to go through rush :(

Buttonz 12-11-2005 12:24 AM

My friend was offered and accpeted a bid to Delta Sigma Phi...not the one he orignally thought he would end up in, but he seems happy so I'm glad for him

gcsmith 12-14-2005 10:17 PM

almost time

For me to become addicted. I have been out of college for 4 years but still love it when recruitment comes around. Although now all of my connections to the chapter have graduated so finding out how everything ends up will be harder. Can't wait to read everyone's stories!!!!

ADPi Conniebama 01-01-2006 08:43 PM

OK, I am very "pro" spring recruitment. UNA has fall recruitment and that is ok but I can only imagine how the sisterhood works out with spring recruitment.

With the new short pledgeships and the grades already in for spring recruitment that must make for a much better GLO GPA.

Also, and I know it is because my chapter had to do it a few times when I was in school, but I love continuous recruitment aka open rush. I mean, then the girls that come to the parties know that they are, more then likely, interested in joining and the sisters that invite the girls, be it personal or written panhellenic are definately interested in the pms.

Also as an advisor now, a spring recruitment would, hopefully, keep the sisters in the recruitment mood all semester, knowing that pms are on campus and watching every move they make.

SO SPRING RECRUITERS and pm's have a great time.

oceanphi01 01-04-2006 08:45 PM

Just FYI: my sister is on there twice. Just wanted to let you know!

DST4A00 01-04-2006 09:19 PM

what are PNMs?
What are they supposed to do to rush?
What's the difference between formal and informal rush?

And where should I ask these questions?

You're wonderful for doing this and feeding our addictions!!

Woot!! Woot!! Woot!!

Jill1228 01-05-2006 03:21 AM

Love back at cha honeychile!

It is a great way to de-stress! :D

RedRoseSAI 01-08-2006 03:48 PM

We have the results!

Jill1228 01-09-2006 02:56 AM

Got it!

Sorry I just got home from work :)

honeychile 01-09-2006 10:48 PM

Some information I just received:

I'm hearing that Baylor had HUGE results!! These results extended not only to ADPi (YAY!) but also to the another chapters there, and that both the retention of PNMs AND quota was up (54 + juniors), all due in large part to Baylor's change to the new release figures this term. Anyone else hear the same thing?

It sounds like all our chapter needed was that chance to show more PNMs what a great choice ADPi was and is!! ADPi took 48 New Members - which more than doubles its size!!

Jestor 01-14-2006 10:45 PM

What is this, sorority discrimination? :D

I did do informal rush technically speaking and I've pledged Delta Sigma Phi ;)

Move into the house tomorrow in fact. :)

Spring Recruitment starts Thursday at my school, and while not all chapters will be giving bids, I'll be there trying to find my new home!

Can't wait!
