This lady is crazy

Do you think she thought of that herself, or did the people from moveon.org tell her to do it? :p

On Sunday, a rally supporting the war drew roughly 500 participants. Speakers included veterans of World War II and the war in Iraq, as well as family members of soldiers killed in Iraq.

“I would like to say to Cindy Sheehan and her supporters, ‘Don’t be a group of unthinking lemmings.’ It’s not pretty,” said Mitzy Kenny of Ridgeley, W.Va., whose husband died in Iraq last year. The anti-war demonstrations “can affect the war in a really negative way. It gives the enemy hope.”

I think Howard Dean told her to do it. Does she have a tatoo on her ankle?

That vacant, lunatic grin on her face is a bit unsettling. Like the lights are on but no one's home.

Unfortunately, I don't think anyone's been home since her son was killed :( I hope she can eventually come to terms with things.

cashmoney 09-26-2005 04:16 PM

Yea, I was wondering why she was smiling.

I do too. :( It's like she thinks she is honoring her son by getting herself arrested. Or that she is really cutting Bush down to the bone by it. I really think she might want to seek some grief counseling.... And if she already has, I think she needs more.

DeltAlum 09-26-2005 04:48 PM

I heard her give an interview on NPR and was totally unimpressed. She seemed arrogant and gave really terse answers. She didn't come off as particularly likeable.

That being said, she is not the first to lose a loved one and question why in a controversial war -- nor will she be the last. She is neither the first or last to question authority.

There was a lot of this during the Vietnam era -- and, in the end, the Peace Movement prevailed.

If she is making a statement she really believes in, which is her right under our Constitution, I am certainly not going to take her to task for it.

Peaceful Civil Disobedience has become a part of our political decision making process, particularly since the days of the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam Peace movement.

Getting a "ticket" for unlawful protest is hardly a big deal.

Rudey 09-26-2005 04:53 PM

Did you ever occupy an administration building?

C'mon there DA, ever eat paper and spread flower love?

RACooper 09-26-2005 05:02 PM

I hate to say it but that picture destroys what crediblilty she may have had with the "mainstream"...

As long as she appeared to be somewhat credible and only slightly used/abused by the extreme left she had some media weight - but now her 15 minutes are done and she is/has rapidly become a joke.

Leaving aside the fact that I'm Canadian (for you Rudey) - I opposed the war, and I thought its' prosecution and aftermath wew a joke.. however I haven't drank/smoked enough that I would consider the immediate withdraw of US troops a good thing. Basically she may have set out with a 'noble' goal at the beginning of her protest, but now she has become the tool of the far left/joke that many conservative media pundits portrayed her as...

Nope. In fact, I was in ROTC while in college. That, however, doesn't/didn't necessarily put me in conflict with people who question the decisions of our leadership in a peaceful manner.

DA, have I ever mentioned to you that I've always sort of thought that the character of "Otter" in "Animal House" ("I'm Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet you!") might be reminiscent of you in your college days???

But if you were in ROTC, I guess that'd make you more of a Nedermeyer? Say it ain't so!

No, but that's funny.

I wasn't much like either of them -- or even much of a combination.

Just a regular kind of guy having a good time.

ETA, athough my first rush experience was a little like that -- just a little overwhelming -- but not terribly. Lot's of firm handshakes, though.

Rudey 09-26-2005 05:11 PM

I think we should deport her.

BobbyTheDon 09-26-2005 05:36 PM

you guys ever see the movie "GOING GREEK" ?

I swear that movie was basically my chapter. Everyone except the annoying black dude who kept bragging about how huge his weener was. We didn't have assholes like that who thought fully of themselves. We just had a bunch of fun loving guys who played pranks on eachother.

Realistically if you wanna know who I was in my chapter. there was this one character in the movie who is almost just like me to a T. He was the pledge Ed dude. I forget his name. Always joking around, but cuold get serious when he had to. I swear some of the things he said in that movie, I literally probably said in real life myself.

I think Sheehan's whole purpose throughout the whole protest WAS to get arrested. Granted, I have been accused of being born in the wrong decade (the 1980's) because of my "hippy ways" and music tastes but this lady does need some grief counseling. I disagree with the war but I think she's protesting the war just because her son died in Iraq, not because she thinks this is a senseless war. There a lot of people's children dying in Iraq. She and her son were and are not the chosen ones out of the bunch. In fact, I have a good friend I went to high school and college with over in Iraq right now. I guess according to her his life and others' lives aren't as good as hers and her son's lives. Granted, one loves (or should love) their children more than someone else's but she's acting like her life here in America and her son's life are more important than anything or anyone else.
