Terry McMillan

I have just begun reading Terry McMillan's new book "The Interruption of Everything" and its pretty interesting...dont' have a much of an opinion on it as of yet.

But I was wondering if anyone else was familiar with her work and if so what is your favorite book for hers and why?

I love to read, haven't had much time as of lately...any other suggestions on good books?

The HBO movie Disappearing Acts did not do her work justice. She's normally an excellent writer. I've heard conflicting reports about her new book, but I'll read it for myself.

I didn't like her last book.

My favorites would have to be Mama and Disappearing Acts. I read those in high school and I just thought she was a great writer.

My favorite is Waiting to Exhale, didn't really care for the movie.

Mama is a close second

Another movie that didn't do the book justice. I forgot about Mama. That was really good.

I still don't have the newest one. I am a big Terry fan but my favorites are Disappearing Acts and A Day Late, A Dollar Short.

I actually liked her last novel. However, my fave is Disappearing Acts.

a few years ago I bought "A Day Late, A Dollar Short" but I have yet to sit down and read it.

My favorite of hers is "Waiting to Exhale" and believe it or not, "Stella". Although, I could just kick the sh-- out of the real-life character, I loved the book and couldn't put it down when I read it and actually liked the movie. I don't usually like books made into movies cause I love to read so much. Books are so much more real to me!! :)

I really love all of her books and can't wait to read this new one. There is a writing on her in Essence this month and I am glad to read that she seems to be doing fine.

I've read all of her novels with the exception of the latest release, but my favorites are A Day Late A Dollar Short, and Waiting to Exhale (the book was much better than the movie!)

I've read all of Terry McMillan's books. The Interruption of Everything was a good read.

I think my favorite book would be Mama, Waiting to Exhale, and Disappearing Acts.

Like everyone stated the movie versions of Waiting to Exhale & Disappearing Acts didn't do the book justice.

I just got it today from Black Expressions. I'll start on it tonight.

Did anyone read the interview with her about her divorce in Essence?

She said her ex started arching his eyebrows and wearing lip gloss!

I am about 1/4 of the way through The Interruption and I love this book already. It's really interesting and actually quite funny. I had a good laugh last night over the live-in mother-in-law!!

Now...I have read and seen her movie "Stella" I liked the book as always. And it seemed as tho a lot of women cheered Stella on when she got wit the younger man....and after Terry announced her love affair with a younger man...women seemed to cheer her on too.

But now, that she's getting divorced, because her youn beau turned out not to be so..." what she needed", Do you feel her dating a younger man was uhm...."proper".

Has anyone ever dated someon younger than their age...and was it any different than dating someone older or similar age?

BTW...How Stella Got Her Groove back....the movie was good and the book.

I always thought tha relationship was a bit strange. Even in the movie (although it was fun watching Taye Diggs!!!!) I thought it was strange - especially when she met the momma - I was like - now how would I feel if my son brought someone home my age???

I finished "Interruption". It was a good book but I thought it was going to end very differently. Wasn't disappointed though cause Terry never lets me down.

I am now picturing this as a movie. Anybody read this yet? Who would you see playing the different characters?

I'm still trying. I just can't get into this one. :(
