Breaking Bonaduce on vh1

Has anyone else seen this yet?

I watched about half of it the other night and WOW...is all I can say. I always thought he was so disgusting and annoying. But after watching it I feel bad for him. He said the show was like watching a train wreck, and just from watching the first episode I have to agree.

If anyone is interested in pysch. its a good show to watch.

Just curious if anyone else watched it.....

trojangal 09-15-2005 09:13 PM

yeah...mr. trojangal and I were watching some of it. He wasn't too comfortable with me watching all of it; partly because he admitted that some of those issues were awfully close to home. The scene with him and his daughter was very interesting, and I could see the same scene with our little one when she is older.

Did like though, how he drove home instead of hooking up with the Las Vegas women.

It's going to be interesting

The psychiatrist sucks.

I want Gretchen's hair color.

ztawinthropgirl 09-15-2005 11:32 PM

I have to agree the psychiatrist sucks. I also don't like Dr. Phil McGraw either but that's a little off subject.

I like this show. I hope the rest of the season isn't so contrived like so many of "reality" shows. I hope it's as good as the first episode.

Rewatching this episode where he takes 'roids... is he asking for it? I mean its like he's waiting for every possible chance to mess up. Its sad and disgusting. Poor Gretchen :(

so damn cool 09-20-2005 03:10 AM

This show is amazing.

Definitely one of the top shows to watch.

ZTABullwinkle 09-20-2005 06:17 AM

I am specifically avoiding this show after seeing the interview with him and his wife on "The View." He flat out admitted that it was all about the money. He just is one screwed up child actor. I was shocked at how forward he is about the subjects, especially the steroids.

What a train wreck!

Not all therapist are created equal. . .

Maybe this will help you all. . . . the guy helping out Danny is not a psychiatrist (a physician, with a MD) but a psychotherapist (with a Ph.D., just like Dr. Phil). That being said, the show is captivating because self sabotage is both common and misunderstood. Each episode becomes more disturbing than the last.

UKDaisy 09-23-2005 12:45 AM

So this "doctor" isn't even a psychiatrist? I'm sorry but somebody needs to be majorly helping this guy out. He isn't just messed up or has some issue.... HE IS FLAT OUT CRAZY!

I feel sorry for his wife.

Do y'all think maybe it is just an act? I didn't see the view that somebody was talking about earlier.... but I"m curious?

Is anyone still watching this show?

I'm addicted for some sick reason. I wish I wasn't. Last Sunday's episode he was like "the only reason for doing this show is the money" and then he cried. So I don't know what to think..

Oh yeah...I keep watching to see what's going to happen next. You feel bad for him but at the same time you want to reach through the television and strangle Danny!!

trojangal 10-22-2005 11:26 AM

We've been watching it, but missed last week's show b/c we were out of town. Someone update us?

33girl 10-22-2005 12:04 PM

It's on again right now.

If you have on demand on your cable it might be there too.

Was it the pre-rehab one you missed?

Danny decided to check himself into rehab, after clips of showing him downing alcohol and then deciding to drive home.
Gretchen was in with the doctor and said that her lil' girl was begging her not to get a divorce and that "she could fix things". *which absolutely broke my heart* They drive Danny to rehab and he then tells Gretchen that "he doesn't have to be there". She tells him he does and they end on him leaving.

Tomorrow's episode should be good.

Its not a great recap but...I tried.

Yeah I've been watching this show b/c you just can't turn away. I used to listen to his radio show in the mornings when KROQ was on commercials & I always thought he was pathetic but lucky to have Gretchen to catch him when he falls. Watching this just makes me sad for his kids.

cutiepatootie 10-23-2005 11:32 AM

You know when he was on that show with dick clark and mario lopez i thought finally he got himself turned around.....but he is such a train wreck waiting for the other shoe to fall......i think he personally is waiting for that to happen. I been watching breaking bonaduchi and i really feel sad for him.....whatever happen after the partridge family and his own life family issues........ gretchen is one strong woman to handle his many issues! She gives true meaning for better or for worse.

can you believe they got married on a whim because she would not sleep with him on the first date so they got married so he could sleep with her and there still together after all this time.

UKDaisy 10-23-2005 04:18 PM

Gretchen is amazingly strong! I can't believe they got married like that either. But she said in one of the earlier episodes that she knew she loved him even then.

This show is a train wreck and you can't help but watch it.

After last week's show I feel very sad for his kids. There's no telling what damage this has done to Isabella(oldest).

Tonight's show should be interesting.

Psychiatrists (MDs) don't usually do the talk therapy. You have a 15-30 minute visit with them and they prescribe meds. THEN you have the appointment with the Psychotherapist (PhD or Master's Degree) who does the talk/cognitive/family/etc. therapy for 45 minutes.

And I agree...I don' t have vh1, so I haven't seen the show, but I've seen clips and interviews, and he's certifiable. Meds would be good....lots of meds.
