Our Beautiful, "Bluetiful" Sisterhood!!
Hey Sorors, I got a story to tell. I just love meeting new Sorors and I am always excited about Sigma. I will be like a neo forever! I just love the decision I made at this point in my life. I came in at 36 years of life so I am dead serious.
OK to the point -- I am always wearing nalia. A bag, a key chain, or something. Well since I am always wearing something and I stay on the go, a lot of inactive older Sorors spot me and we conversate! I have met Sorors in the mall, on the Metro, and even at the club (she had her hat under the bar LOL, and I spotted her!). I have nalia on my van and when I spot another car with nalia, I always honk, wave, throw up the sign, heck I have even stopped traffic to conversate! Well, the last Soror I met was at the mall. This is the one rare time I went out without nalia! She had her umbrella and I said "hello Soror!" She was a neo from Fall 2000 and we hugged and talked like old friends! Her girlfriend from another sorority (the one with all the members http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif ) looked at us like we were crazy. I just think that we don't see "us" that often! We are small and that is a beautiful thing. The point I am trying to make is to WEAR YOUR NALIA! you never know who you might meet! That is all for now, I just wanted to share that with you. Oh, and I called the Soror that I met at the mall and she told me that her Mom just became a Philo and her little sister will be inducted as a Rhoer in August. Isn't that wonderful! Soror,
I'm feeling you on that concept and it really works and promotes Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. I have also met sorors in the DC/MD/Va area and other greeks from those very large organizations just don't understand the true sisterhood. I've had friends from the other sororities say that you all act like a real family or you act like you've known that girl for ever. Why would anyone become a member of an organization to just ignore the other members? Sorors please represent Sigma to the fullest and take the time to get to know sorors from all walks of life because you never know when someone is watching! Excellent topic soror! |

Hey Soror,
I am in the process of rebuilding my 'nalia collection, but I have pulled sorors over, run down sorors (at the gas station) and everything, and this was after I graduated. Every time I run into sorors, if I am with someone I know, they are like, "Is this one of your friends from school or something?" because we just talk like we are real sisters or something. Being small is part of it, but I think that the reason we are like this is because a lot of the people we attract are looking for a deeper sisterhood. http://www.plauder-smilies.de/laugh1.gif TR Simon |
Hey Soror,
I feel the exact same way. I am always excited about meeting new sorors. I am the ONLY SGRHO in the area where I live. But I am representing Sigma I have a sign on my car, t-shirts, and several key rings!!! That's one of the reason why I love Sigma soooooo much is because we are small and we ALWAYS show love toward each other. |
BlueReign that is wonderful. I'll email you privately.
|
And again!
Yesterday, I was stuck in traffic and I spotted a Soror wearing a keychain! She was trying to walk across the traffic and it was my turn to move and I stopped to hold a conversation and offer her a ride. A police car was next to me and no one blew their horns! Yes, I know I am silly but I just can't help it. I just love seeing Sorors! |

*This is my first time posting. Yay for me!*
It is absolutely refreshing to see examples of the love that Sigma Women have for each other. I have seen it in other organizations, but no other sorority shows what sisterhood is really about like Sigma Gamma Rho does! I hope to become a part of your illustrious sisterhood in the future. You all know the history of the sorority, but these stories that you tell really hit home with a prospective like myself. I also like hearing about SGRhos that represent no matter the time of day, the location, or what type of function they are attending. I'm not a member, but I just see that Sigma Gamma Rho is absolutely beautiful! (I'm not kissing up, just finally expressing myself after lurking and being a silent observer.) Take care, and be blessed!!! |
Thanks for your reply jojapeach. Good luck in your quest for RHOyal blue and Gold.

I must say that being part of this wonderful and bluetiful sisterhood has once again afforded me with the opportunity to meet two sorors that are in the Northern Va area. One young lady is completing her internship for the summer and the other young lady moved into this area. I decided to spend some quality time with them and I really had a ball. One is an undergraduate from Little Rock, Arkansas and the other is a recent graduate from Oklahoma. We spend most of Saturday early evening at the movies. We saw the movie "Original Sin" and had quite a nice time talking and sharing stories about Sigma Gamma Rho and even though I became a member during my undergraduate days in Spr. 83.(Side note: I'm not that old I was just able to pledge during my freshman year in college!) (Second side note: I'm still in my 30s lol) I really enjoy and appreciate the fact that these women display true character and the spirit of Sigma Gamma Rho. I was also with Soror Loquacious9 another young graduate soror that is just a delight and joy to be around. After the movie,I took them around to another soror's home and we just carried on the conversation like old friends. Thank God! I found this true sisterhood!!!

Soror SeriousSigma,
Spring 83? You are up there with me (in age, not Sigma years). But isn't life better now! I was one mixed up confused person in my 20's but I can say that I now know exactly what I want and I am going for it! |
Soror,
I must agree with you on that and I just am glad that Sigma Gamma Rho is leading and paving the way for true sisterhood. Thanks for the continued welcomed response! Sorors and friends let us keep representing in a positive manner! |
It's a really beautiful thing to have sisters everywhere who are real and good to you. I LOVE MY SORORS!!!!

I can relate Soror. I have my letters tattooed on my left shoulder, and I attract so much attention with them. I had two Sorors shout me out in the middle of CARIBANA of all places!! Too cool. I bump into Sorors at the mall, and we start hugging, and people think we're crazy. I love it. So my family thinks I'm nuts--SGRho till the day that I die!!!!

Hello Sorors! I think it is wonderful to see so much positivity in these posts! I have only been a member for 6 days and it feels really good to know that this feeling will last for a very long time! Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority is the ONLY sorority that I have seen with so much energy, spirit and love for one another! I'm proud to say that I am a member and I feel blessed to be able to call you my SORORS!

OK, here I go again with my overly enthusiastic, crazy about Sigma, forever wearing rhoyal blue and gold self!
Yall know I went through Induction Training last week for all teachers who were hired in the last 2 years. Prince Georges is the 17th largest school system in the country so thousands of people were there! Just from wearing my nalia I met 4 sorors at the luncheon! One of them I ran into at church this morning and didn't know that we belonged to the same church all this time(this is a mega-sized church) Last week I also met a lovely young lady from Delta Sigma Theta who recognized me from a soror's birthday party last month. She said she looked at my SGRho hat and then she remembered me. She is new to the area and we are going to hang out together! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif So the moral of the story is.... wear your nalia, meet new sorors and interesting new friends!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif |
Soror Bluereign,
You are very correct because I went home for the week (Delaware) and I ran into a young lady while visit old friends at U of De. and she ended up being a SGRho. I had on a pair of Sigma Gamma Rho flip flops and she walked up to me and gave me a hug and introduced herself as a soror. I totally agree with you and I encourage sorors to proudly display and wear their nalia! |
I absolutely agree with Blue Reign and SeriousSigma22 about wearing 'nalia. I am a brand spanking new neophyte (yay for me!), and I am proudly wearing a pin. I can't wait to go to my other job on Friday and let my "family" know that I have achieved another goal. :D
But I digress. Sigma is indeed bluetiful!!! I attended the ATL NPHC picnic in June, and I met a member there. We never called each other after exchanging numbers. Then, in August, I saw someone waving and smiling at me during the new teacher orientation. I was unsure if she was smiling at me, but then she lifted her SGRho bag, and I knew it was her. What did she do? She showed a prospective some love by smiling broadly when I recognized her and giving me a big hug. That's how cool Sigma really is!!! I was just interested, but she showed real love to me. Now, she has promised me more 'nalia just because she wants to. I love Sigma, and I will definitely represent her well. Yay for me!!! (I'm still not used to the idea that "soror" and the call are a part of my vocabulary now. LOL) EEEEEEEEEEEEEE-YIIIIIIIP!!!!! ;) |
our sisterhood!
I luv it, I luv it, I luv it! is all i can say about how I feel about Sigma!:D I was brought into the light of Sigma spr99 and have been representing every since! :D
At first I felt like dang why is everyone always asking me why I joined this illustrious organization? as if they had to ask:rolleyes: I use to be sort of shy with my love for Sigma, but now I proudly display my love for her. We are smaller than the others but that is what makes us tighter and more of a true sisterhood. I would not have done it any other way! EEEEE-YIPPPPP to all of my Blue and Gold Poodles with 10 pearls and 2 rubies. :D |
Sorors,
I have another comment and reply about wearing your nalia and proudly representing Sigma. On Sunday, August 19, 2001 the class (Singles Sunday School) got on the subject of being a witness for Christ and proudly sharing your love for Him by using bglo as the example. The Sunday school teacher was taking a poll of how many greeks were in the class of about 30 and their were 11 people that happened to be in sororities, by the way no of the gentlemen in the class were greek, anyway there were 4 akas, 4 deltas, 1 zeta and two Sgrhos in the class. Our teacher made a mistake and called one of the deltas an aka and the conversation, let's just say changed. Both of these organizations basically wanted to explain why they thought their organization was the best, etc. However, at the end of the class one of the deltas walked up to me and said, I didn't know you were a SGRho. Eventhough she parks right next to me and she sees the nalia on my car and she always sees me with other sorors at the church. She was ready to categorize me as being a stereotype of one of the two "bigger organizations" at first I was taken back by this but then I decided to turn this negative statement into a positve one. She went on to ask me why I became a member of Sigma and I told her about the true long lasting sisterhood, the fact that the founders survived on this historically white campus during the heart of segregation, the community service, dependability of my sorors and the love that we have for Sigma. The delta ended our conversation by saying that maybe this is why her younger sister is a SGRho. We had a very pleasant conversation and I am glad that she and the other ladies now know what SGRho is about. The moral of this story is to always keep a level head and never disrespect yourself by being upset by the way other greeks tend to disregard our true sisterhood.proudly represent Sigma |
I just wanted to say that this past weekend was the Tacoma Chapter NPHC picnic. It was held in a beautiful park, and there must have been nine or ten SGRhos sitting together and hanging out. Everybody had their shirt or pin or jacket or something on, and we made the Royal Blue and Gold look good. You would have thought we were all blood or something the way we went on, and the others in attendance definitely noticed.
Monday, I was talking to my sister, who is in college, and she was telling me how she ran into this member of another organization who asked her what greek organization she was interested in. She told her Sigma Gamma Rho, and she said the other young lady went on to talk and talk about her organization and how great it was. My sister told her, "I know all about your organization, but I am interested in Sigma Gamma Rho." It is very important for us to show how proud we are of Sigma with our 'nalia, but it is how we treat our sorors and represent ourselves that really makes us stand out. This is getting long... :D TRSimon |
(Big happy smile on my face as I write this) The more and more I read these statements, the more and more I am PROUD to be a Neo of Sigma Gamma Rho!!!:D

I just wanted to add that I have my 2001 Royal Blue and Gold Collection totally hooked up, and I must say it is so so fresh and so so clean clean!! I was at church sporting my royal dress and my antique golden silk scarf and my antique golden shoes (not to mention my pin), and a really sweet SS of Zeta came up to me. She remembered me from their regional conference (I delivered greetings on behalf of Sigma). She recognized me because of all the blue and gold I was wearing. We had a really nice chat, but if I had not been wearing my blue and gold, she probably would have been like, I saw her somewhere, now who is she??? and not spoken. Always representing Sigma with a smile, :) TRSimon |
Soror TRSimon,
You are so very correct Soror TRSimon! Neos everywhere need to listen to this soror for she speaks the honest truth! Always represent Sigma in a positive manner in with classy style and grace. That's truly just my 22 cents! Serioussigma22 |
SoRHor Simply Gammarou,
Welcome to our bluetiful sisterhood!!!!!!! EEEEEEE-yip!!!!!! ;) |

I know what you mean!!
Dearest sorors,
I know that I'm only a neo, but I love meeting new sorors!! I have a story of my own to tell. Well, one day I was walking with two of my friends (one is an alpha and the other non-greek) when I saw a car with an SGRHO tag on it that I didn't recognize. Since there are only ten of us here at UAB it's safe to say that I know all of my sorors cars!! Anyway, I called all of my sorors to ask if anyone knew who she was and they didn't. So, I did what any SIGMA would do and I left a note on her car telling her to call me as soon as she got the chance. She called a few days later and we meet up at the study break that we organized in one of our dorms!! Turns out that she is an advisor for one of the chapters in Florida and was in birmingham finishing up some grad work before her graduation!!! She was so nice and friendly, but then again what soror isn't!! lol Finally, I would like to say that I like meeting sorors because it gives you a chance to make new friends and makes us able to help each other out when we need assistance. On a forum like this one called stepshow.com I met some sorors who needed a SGRHO group to step for them. After working out all of the kinks we are able to represent SIGMA in a stepshow on Feb. 9 at UGA so I hope that all of my Georgia sorors that are reading this will attend!! EEE-YIP!!!!!!! |
*sniff* *sniff*I just love happy endings..:)
|
SIGMATIC ENCOUNTER!!!!
I was on my way to class today and I saw this tan car...I passed by it I saw this blutiful RHOyal blue and Gold SGRHO liscense plate...When she stepped out of her car I started EEE-yip!!!! We ran to each other like we were old friends!!!!! This is the first time I have seen a SORHOr's car in my area!!!! I was sooooo excited... The lady with her was also a soRHOr!!! We exchanged numbers and plan on having lunch together soon. I felt just like a neo all over again and it's been 8yrs for me...SGRHO fever never GOES away!!!!!! :) |
SoRhors, SoRhors, SoRhors,
I'm so emotional right now because of the two previous soror encounters! All I can say is that this was one of the many reasons that I became a Sigma so many years ago (Spr. 83'). Serioussigma22 :) |
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kizzie 22,
Girl, I know how you feel!!!!! When I read your story, I felt your excitement as if I were with you!! I just saw another soror yesterday but I didn't get a chance to talk to her because we were on the innerstate. : ( I told my sorors about her and they said that they had also seen her but could never catch up with her. Hopefully I can catch up with our illusive soror soon!! I'll keep you all posted!! lol |
