while Farakhan blame the Iraq war for the hurricane.

Repent America Blames Gay
Farrakhan Blames Iraq War

Is Farrakan that geeky looking guy with the bowtie who always has another bunch of geeky looking guys in bowties standing behind him?

Yebo

I'm suprised that Phelps haven't blame gays and Swedes for the hurricane.

AGDee 09-01-2005 09:21 AM

Report on the radio today was reading all the letters of support that were coming in from all the world leaders. The last one, was from Islamic extremists and said that this was evidence that God had joined the jihad against America and that oil will be up to $100 a barrel by the end of the year. Sickos.

jubilance1922 09-01-2005 09:25 AM

I'm sick of people blaming actions for this natural disaster. These people did NOTHING to deserve this.

Yikes. Makes you wonder what the folks in Indonesia did last December that made God so mad at them.

Wow, before I even saw this I emailed to my friend "just wait, the religious zealots are going to start blaming all the hedonism in NO for the hurricane."

I called it, dude.

Lindz928 09-01-2005 10:07 AM

Here is the excerpt from that article that someone mentioned. And here is the link to the whole article:

U.S. disaster elicits worldwide sympathy, shock

Updated: 8:42 p.m. ET Aug. 31, 2005

Islamic extremists rejoiced in America’s misfortune, giving the storm a military rank and declaring in Internet chatter that “Private” Katrina had joined the global jihad, or holy war. With “God’s help,” they declared, oil prices would hit $100 a barrel this year.

Venezuela’s government, which has had tense relations with Washington, offered humanitarian aid and fuel if requested.

Someone please deport Farrakhan to Iraq. That is all I ask for.

My favorite one so far is the anti-choice folks who have said that the image of the hurricane as it made landfall looks like a fetus, and that it was God's way of saying that Abortion is murder and must be stopped.

You can't spell fundamentalist without MENTAL.

Mr RedRose and I were just saying this last night. What blows their little theory to bits is that the most hedonistic part of the city - the French Quarter - is relatively unharmed. The zealots can stick that in their pipes and smoke it.

You're joking, right? OH MAN. That makes as much sense as pro-choice folks saying that the hurricane hit to try to wipe out some of the people born because pregnant women did NOT abort. Not that any of them are crazy enough to say that, but still...

Robert Kennedy Jr. has blamed both President Bush and Gov. Haley Barbour for the hurricane, saying that it stems from their rejection of the Kyoto treaty.

People are saying obnoxious things on both sides.

AlphaFrog 09-01-2005 01:07 PM

If this was supposed to be Go'd punishment for gay people, it would have hit San Francisco, not Biloxi, MS

Obnoxious as the above statement might be, saying that Katrina looked like a bloody fetus takes the nutso whackjob cake.

I am glad to see that while so many of us disagree politically, we can agree that ALL of the people making comments like these are nutjobs. :D

Or Rudey. Or whomever's close by.

a.e.B.O.T. 09-02-2005 08:31 PM

DolphinChicaDDD 09-02-2005 11:30 PM

If is squint reeeeeaaaaaalllllly hard, I can see the Katrina/fetus things. But that website is just too much.

moe.ron 09-03-2005 09:09 AM

If you squint harder, you can see Elvis and Tupac.

Sistermadly 09-03-2005 09:15 AM

Sorry for the confusion...

But there is a nutjob fundamentalist preacher named Fred Phelps that is sooooooooooo homophobic that his rants and sermons deal with the subject of homosexuals almost exclusively.

Phelps seems to believe that the Tsunami was "God's way" of punishing the Swedes vacationing in SE Asia for Sweden's acceptance of homosexuality... Phelps also believes that every member of the US military killed in Iraq is also God's punishment, that the US government tried to bomb his church, that the huricane was God's punishment on NO for America's acceptance of homosexuality, that Pope John Paul II was the anti-Christ, that Queen Elizabeth II is a lesbian, etc.

I think it is a GOOD thing that I have never heard of this guy. Apparently his infamy isn't too big. I figure anytime these wackos DON'T get any publicity, it is a good thing. :p

I find it amazing that anyone who claims to be a "man of God" can be SO prejudiced and judgemental of his fellow man. So sad. :(

DeltAlum 09-05-2005 12:45 AM

I suppose our family will be in trouble because we made our donation for Katrina victims through a local gay and lesbian origanization.

Why? Because they were matching donations dollar for dollar up to $250.

That way our $250 became $500.

I hope the fundamentalist church can find it in its heart to forgive us.

Sistermadly 09-05-2005 12:57 AM

DA, you're going to face hellfire and damnation. I just know it.

I used to hear that every Sunday when I was young for everything from smoking to drinking to dancing to going to movies on Sunday.

It was enough to scare a little kid right out of the church.

Which has nothing to do with the situation at hand.

Mrs. DA just found the matching offer in the newspaper and it made a lot of sense to us.
