Hey everyone!

I happened to stumble upon this site last week and have been reading some of the great threads on here. I have decided to post about ny rush at USC (starting on Tuesday evening)....I am really excited about getting started but slightly apprehensive as I am a sophomore. I found very few SC rush threads on here, but I feel like I'm really prepared and ready to go. I haven't admitted to anyone yet, but I am pretty nervous.

I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a very enjoyable rush. Greek life at USC is a lot of fun (I'm at UCLA but I've got some friends who go to USC).

USC (cali) rush is competitive, and cuts due to being a sophomore are possible (so try not to let that bother you :)). Just have fun! :)

I just got back from the meeting. The panhellenic council basically went over the rules with us and then performed little fun skits to get us excited :)
we were then sent off in our groups (there were 13 of them, organized by last name letter).... there is a lot of girls rushing--i think like 700-750.
Anyway we went off to our locations and introduced ourselves and said a few words, and then sorted out any conflicts.
Thats about it for part 1..... all the girls were BEAUTIFUL and really lovely. I'm not nervous just yet..I will keep y'all updated.

Can't wait to hear how it goes. Keep us posted when you can. As you can tell by my sig, I already wished you luck :D

Hey all!!

OK, so I'm absolutely exhausted after convo day 1 but i'm totally excited! I had great fun today....we went to see 4 houses.
There are 9 houses at sc, so i'll name them each after a sport for us.

Swimming
Soccer
Gymnastics
Ballet
Running
Polo
Golf
Tennis
Lacrosse


We arrived on the row and started with:-

SWIMMING;- This was a really beautiful house, but the first girl I was placed with was slightly awkward. However, I saved the day and realised that it was actually her first time on the other side. After that, the next girl was sweet and funny and my third and final girl was really genuinaly interested in me. So it ended on a high note. I liked this house but I felt it took me a while to 'warmup' because of girl number 1

SOCCER: I have a close friend in this house so I was really excited to visit here. THESE GIRLS WERE FANTASTIC and I loved every single one of them. They spoke to me so fluidly and with totaly interest. i loved them, and time jus flew by.

GYMNASTICS:- Again, the first girl they gave me was awkward and I had to work to get her to open up, but then the next two girls were wonderful. There was a little bit of hinting going on however which was a little much for me. I still liked them though, but wasn't as keen....they had an odd room layout

BALLET:- I know quite a lot of girls in this house.....their intro was slightly confusing-- you were passed around a number of different people until someone finally walked off with you. My girl was SUPER and we totally hit it off, and the the next girl and myself got on like a house on fire! So that was fun :)

I guess soccer and ballet were my faves today. Well, off to bed :)

Thanks for the supportive comments so far! i was exhausted last night, so i hope i supplied enough info for you guys :)

We met at the same place at 4.15 and all walked over to the row. We went straight down the row to:-

RUNNING- The girls in here were very complimentary and I really liked the first girl I spoke to. The second girl was fantastic until the very last minute. As she was walking me out and I was about 6 feet from the door she began to 'sell' the sorority a little hard. I still had fun though!

Then a break and on to...

POLO-- I was really excited for this house and i loved them. I spoke to a couple of lovely girls, and I felt that they liked me too. They then did a wonderful performance which was a great sendoff. I liked them!!

Straight to GOLF: So now I was feeling tired! These girls had a great welcome and I loved girls 1 and 3. I actually really hit it off with the both of them, and I had actually been apprehensive before I went in. I left with a really positive opinion :)

Straight onto TENNIS- words cannot explain how tired i was getting. I felt like i was going to get a tired twitch in my eye!! Great first girl, very withdrawn second girl....i could not connect with her, and really couldn't see myself there.....

Short break and onto LACROSSE-- These girls were very nice, and were great for the last party of the day. However, again, I couldn't see myself in there everyday etc... It was more polite convo than true 'wow i am totally connecting right now!!!'.

Then I went to meet my counsellor and had to rank my bottom 3 houses. I ranked them as below:-

gymnastics
tennis
lacrosse

so tomorrow i go to pick up my schedule and find out if the houses i like so far feel the same way :)

Good-luck & I hope you find your home there. I myself went to Cal State Long Beach so I'm semi-close. Unfortunately, the Sigma Kappa chapter at USC is no longer active. :(

Wow you sound like you're having a great time :)

My feet were so sore after rush! And I even wore flip flops between houses...hehe.

It's also very very true about the girls on the other side being just as nervous as you (if not more!). I know I'm definitely nervous about going through rush on the other side this year...

And remember, even if you don't get invited back to all houses, you can only join one house in the end :)

I am currently waiting to go and meet with my counsellor to see which houses I will be attending for house tours. I am seriously excited, I can't contain myself! lol.

I unfortunately got dropped from the 3 houses that I had the strongest connection and felt the most at home with and surprisingly got invited by a few that I ranked fairly low on my list.

Anyway, I don't mean to hijack your thread. I hope you're having fun at the house tours right now!

Right now, i'm exhausted so ill give more info in the morning....the house that came up to replace my cut was better than i thought but i still couldn't find a connection. I have to list the 2 I dont prefer as much in about 30 minutes, so i'm going with

Even so, don't worry about the houses that didn't invite you back. Sometimes it takes a bit to feel the connection with a house, and remember, it's hard to always feel that true connection during rush.

I'm enjoying reading both of your usc threads!

sorry for keeping you all waiting :)

Last night after house tours we had to cut 6 houses down to 4. I WAS INVITED BACK TO ALL 4! :) :)

Every house had a wonderful slideshow and every house made me feel truly welcome. I have to cut down to 2 this evening.....i'm really upset, this is going to be hard....i would honestly go with any of these houses although there are 2 im slightly biased towards. fill you in!

Ok, so last night I cut my 4 houses down to 2. THat was a hard cut, and i really had trouble with it. Fortunately, both of my houses invited me back today!!!! But that made it even harder!!!!! So my ranking after pref is:-

swimming....
