Postcards from other states
 

Hey all.

I'm hoping y'all will help me out.

I am a teacher for special ed children. All my kiddos are in a self-contained classroom. I have 10 boys right now (I know it's like having 20). I will probably be getting another boy tomorrow and 2 girls on Tuesday. My kiddos range from having a specific learning disability (SLD) to being Mildly Mentally retarded (MIMR) to being ED/BD (emotional/behavioral disorder). And quite a few are ADHD.

With my kiddo's we are doing a unit on the United States. We will be talking about the states until roughly November 18th. We are doing a state a day (minus Wednesdays b/c we have half day that day and don't have enough time).

What I would love is if I could get someone from every state to send me a postcard with the state name on it to the school. Then the kids can put the cards on a map of the United States as they come in. Plus, I could have them practice their writing (he he) by writing you back a thank you letter.

If anyone is interested feel free to either pm me or respond to this thread. Either way I'll get you the address ;). Also, let me know what state your from, I'm keeping track.

I'm totally open to getting more postcards from one state. That's totally fine. I'm just keeping track so I can see what states I'm missing. ;)

BTW, do you need the state name written on it (i.e. "Georgia")? Or "Atlanta" should be fine?

I would prefer the state but if the city is on that is fine. the kids can do the work and figure out what state the city belongs too.

Ok, another question, do you want me to send them as postcards (i.e. putting stamps, address, etc at the face of the postcards), or putting those blank postcards inside an envelope and send them in mint condition?

where does one buy postcards... there is none in my small town, but I am bound and determind to find one... like Walmart? where is a good place to look typically?

You can find postcards at places like Walgreens, Target and probably Walmart.

Sending the postcard with just a stamp on it and if you want to write a "hello" would be find.

Please put a return address because I'll have my kiddos write y'all a thank you card.

Edited to add: Barnes and Noble has lots of postcards...

The one I have of Florida I got at Kennedy Space center, it is a view of FL from space. I also have some nice ones of the shuttle discovery, I can send both if you like. They might make good discussion postcards :)
