Personally, though, I like Newcastle & the Glasgow Rangers, but that's more because I know people whose relatives play for them. |

Actually the Rangers where here at UofT this summer for their training camp - so you'd be running into them at the gym... or more often at the pubs across the street from the field ;) As for the soft "C" that people use for Celtic... it really makes them sound kinda dumb... the "C" is pronounced hard like a "K" in Scots Gaelic and Irish, not to mention the fact that even the Romans (Latin has no soft "C" either) and Greeks had the hard "K" sound for the Celts 2500 years ago. |
Quote:
I once used the hard "C" for the Boston Celtics, and you would have thought I used the **** word!! Some traditions die hard... |

I don't watch sports besides NFL and NCAA football unless a Florida team is doing good in another sport.
NFL- DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NCAA- Florida Gators and UCF Knights (they'll get good...one day) |
MLB: New York Yankees (my favorite sports team - been a diehard fan for as long as I can remember)
NFL: New York Giants NCAA: UConn, especially the basketball team (except hockey, where I'm a Boston U. fan) NBA: Knicks, although I don't watch as much as I used to NHL: I used to be a Hartford Whalers fan, but since they moved I haven't really followed any one team in particular. I follow the sport as a whole, though. |
Ok, regarding this Celtic/Rangers deal:
So, growing up, my understanding that the biggest reason Celtic and Rangers hate each other is because Celtic is Catholic and Rangers is protestant. Even though I liked Rangers more, since I was Catholic, I was confused about whether or not that's wrong. NOw that I'm a non-denom Christian, I guess it's chill that I support them. I love all those times Celtic BARELY has a lead in the points, and in the last few weeks Rangers comes up and gets them. Also, do you think they should go to the EPL? I think so just because they're not getting any better playing the rest of the Scottish league. Hearts, Dunfermline and Dundee United defnitely are not New Castle, Everton and Tottenham Hotspurs. Shoulda took that chance.... |
NHL: Vancouver Canucks; I also have always loved the Ottawa Senators and the Chicago Blackhawks
CFL: BC Lions NFL: Miami Dolphins |
Washington Redskins, Atlanta Falcons, Navy Midshipmen, Virginia Tech Hokies, Maryland Terrapins.
|
NFL- New York Jets
MLB- New York Mets NHL- New York Islanders (but only because of Mr. SSS really... I actually don't care that much about hockey). |

I would compare this to UNC and Duke being in the Mountain West. Hypothetically, you'd take them two and put them in a much better conference in order to give the other teams a fair shot at winning. But hey, if this increases both sides' chances of lifting a trophy every season, who am I to criticize? |
Soccer: Newcastle United (pro), North Carolina women (college)
NCAA B-Ball: Duke Volleyball: Penn State or Florida (women) |
NFL: Cleveland Browns
MLB: Cleveland Indians NCAA: Ohio State Buckeyes, University of Toledo Rockets, University of Akron Zips |
MLB- Chicago Cubs (by marriage. Don't watch much baseball on my own)
NFL- Indy Colts (though I liked them before Payton got hot last year) NCAA- Iowa State Cyclones (it's okay, you can laugh at me. Everyone else does) |
I only pay attention to college football, so....
AUBURN TIGERS!!!!!! |
