Let's brag about our pets
I have an 8 year old Meyer's Parrot named Alex. She follows me around the house like a dog (I let her out of her cage whenever I'm home) and she talks. She knows what she's saying, because she will only say "Hi" when she first sees me.. and she says "Yum!" only when I give her a grape (which is her favorite food).
She does a perfect imitation of the squeeky sound my Swiffer makes when I mop the floor, and can make a zipper sound of my luggage. All I have to do is take my luggage out of the closet and she will go, "zzzzzzzzipppppp!" I also have six (how many do you want?) Australian zebra finches. I started out with a pair... and... well.... you know the rest! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ewatch/Al2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ewatch/Al4.jpg |
Pretty!
You saw my baby on the other thread. I got him last year from a shelter. He eats dandelions and is crazy for banana chips. He has the run of the house but stays mainly on the carpeted living areas and the stairs. He uses a litter box and cleans himself like a cat but he'll sit up and beg for treats like a dog. He wears a collar with a bell because otherwise he is so quiet I can't find him unless it is treat time. He makes a little growling noise when I don't give him a treat fast enough and a big growl if he gets mad. He loves being outside so I occasionally put him in a harness and attach the leash...if I can catch him. We got our fifteen minutes of fame but didn't win a vacuum cleaner. Oh, well. Lucky's story |
we have cosmo, the 18th month old golden retreiver amd mama cat and her son rocky (4 and 3 respectively). they are great pets!

I have A.J. Bear, who is my 12 year old bichon frise. He is my baby boy, and he goes everywhere with me in the summer (when I am not teaching). I never understood people who became sooooo attached to their pets, but now I am one. I will have to get a new picture of him to post. :)

This is my sweet boy BowTie. I adopted him when he was 5 months, I was told he is a Collie/German Shephard mix. But from being around him and having friends notice, it's Sheltie not Collie. About a week after I adoted him, he got really sick, had numberous vet visits and had a second opinion on vacation at my mom's and changed vets when I got home. Was told it was probably distemper from the original vet, he could never give me a straight answer, but come to find out it was just a bad cold. He is now 1year and 2 months and precious as ever!

I think I've fallen in love with BowTie! What a face!!! Did you get him at a shelter? (I love rescue animal stories).
My mom has two rescued racing greyhounds. |
Yes he's a pound puppy. Trying to find him a little sister with similar coloring. Would like to find another just like him but that won't happen! He is such a good dog.

Boxer Mom
My two year old boxer can sit and give you her paw to say hello. She can also tap you when she wants something you have...begging... :p
|
I have a 3-year-old rat terrier named Conan. He's the cutest, most affectionate dog in the whole planet (IMHO! :) ). He's a terrier so he's extremely hyper. He's constantly running around and playing. He can jump all the way up to my chest. My parents were taken aback by how hyper he is when they first met him but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's not a pet unless it basically screams to you, "I'm here!!! Pay attention to me!!!"
I'll post a picture of him as soon as I can get him to sit still long enough to take one! ETA: I got the digital camera ready and bribed him with a Beggin' Strip! Here's my little angel: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v42/ZTAngel/Conan.jpg |

Well, I have:
3 pugs: Simon (adopted), Puddle, and Buddy (adopted) and Maggie, our 1/2 Black lab 1/2 Siberian Husky mix (adopted). Technically, I also have a rottie mix (Baby), 2 beagle mixes (Ramsey and Shandy), a Golden Retriever (Candace), and a JRT/PRT (Andy). They are my family's rescues that live at one of our grooming/boarding facilities. In the next 10-20 years, I will be getting a Rottie (just 'cause I love the breed), a Standard Poodle (so I can always have a poodle in coat for grooming competitions), a Giant Schnauzer (same reason), and an Airedale Terrier (same reason)... |
I have no pets :( so sad. Hardwood floors = no dogs as per the lease. And no cats bc I'm allergic.
I should get some fish.... |
Can you have a bird? They're really wonderful pets, and you do bond with them as you would a dog. But, you have to do your research... there is a lot to bird care that you need to know before taking one in to your home. And you need to find the right breed for your situation. A parakeet is always a very good "starter bird"-- or a cockatiel. But-- read, read, read before you decide. And if you do, I can help you. I've had birds for most of my life and also run a bird forum.

Meet my "child" - Winston
Here he is...my bully - Winston. He is such a nut. He loves to play with his oversized tennis ball, especially in the apartment. He will get under the covers at night, and if I don't let him in. He sits back, puts on his pity face and whines. Drives the bf NUTS!
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/msbull...&.dnm=8d0f.jpg Can someone help me out here? I can post a link, but not the actual picture.... |
YAY WINSTON!!!

This is my toy poodle Daisy. She's psychotic, but completely adorable and I can't imagine not having her around :) She's a year and a half old now.

Looks Like I've got Bow a little sister!!
This is Bella, she is part cocker. She's at my mom's right now. Mom adopted her with the intention to give her to my grandmother so she can haev a companion since she lives in the country but Nannie is not having any pets! Well Bella was then suppose to be taken out to my uncle and aunt in Spokan, WA but they found a 1 year old cocker. So Mom asked me last night if I would like to have her! Just gotta decide when we are gong to meet at my grandmothers to do the exchange since we live 8 hours apart now. She is a rescue dog also, mom found her at a shelter in the Memphis area. http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...2/DSC01243.jpg |
Saluda Cooper - my baby
This is my baby Saluda. Her name comes from a river near my hometown of Columbia, SC. And her middle name Cooper (yes, in my family, pets get middle names, too) is the name of one of the rivers that forms Charleston Harbor, since I consider Charleston my "other" hometown. She's about 5 months old now, but these pictures are from when I first got her when she was about 3 months. We don't know for sure how old she is since she is a rescue. She's half basset hound, half beagle - or a Bagle as I like to say. I was told by the rescue agency that the guy who dropped her litter off at the foster home swore up and down she was beagle and treeing walker coonhound. Yeah, definitely not! She's not growing taller; she's growing longer! So we are pretty sure about the basset hound.
She is so sweet and loving and playful, but soooo BAD! I think we're gonna need obedience school. She will not stay out of the cat's litter box. Cat poop is like crack to her! She also likes to eat horse poop (I guess that's the beagle in her). But my roommates assure me that horse poop is a natural de-wormer. Besides, once that's in her mouth, she can have it. That's not something I'm going in after! She LOVES my waterbed. It drives my boyfriend crazy. She also loves cats. My roommate got another kitten (Horsefly) at the same time I got Saluda, and they are best friends. I've never seen a cat and a dog so in love! They play all the time, share food, take naps. It's so cute. She also is best friends with my boyfriend's aunt's dog Harley. She is half cocker spaniel, half chihuaua. (Looks kinda like your Bella, DixieGal.) She also loves my roommates' dogs. There's Tarzan, a rott-hound mix, and Vick, an American dingo. Then, besides Horsefly, there are 3 other cats. Saluda loves them waaaaay more than they love her. She's definitely been scratched on her face for trying to play with the kitties (an event that almost gave her mother a heart attack!). She's so sweet though. I had wanted a dog for so long, and I'm so glad I got her. She's my baby. OK, I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO ADD HER PIC. PLEASE HELP! |
I have a cat, Shaolin, and she is sooo precious but spoiled. She is my shadow and will only sleep at the foot of my bed or on my chest. She will only drink water from the bathroom sink. So when she is thirsty she'll meow and walk towards the bathroom. She is also picky about her food. Her bowl has to be filled to the top or she wont eat. But I love her anyway!:D
She also has 6 digits on each paw, I know there's a word for it but I can't remember. |
It's called a harlequin. We just adopted out a kitten that had 7 toes on one foot and 6 on the other three.
|
wowee! sounds like a blast! I just moved in with a k9 cop... 4 belgian malinois (1 for work, 1 retired, and 2 goofballs), a whale/cow fish, and 2 cats.
They are all adorable (ok so the whalefish isn't excatly adorable--it eats goldfish...) and mostly well behaved;) |
This is my lhasa apso, Tashi (it means "Lucky" in tibetan). I got her to keep me company when I went away to grad school. (That's my mom holding her)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29.../babytash1.jpg edited because I didn't realize how big the original photo was |
Tashi is absolutely adorable! What a cute little face.
|
AWWWW I want a lil doggy!
