What's the Highest Math Course Did You Take?

Mine have to be Cal II.

omegamcgee 08-04-2005 09:36 AM

In high school, I took up to Algebra II, but I did it a year early (Algebra I in 8th grade, Geometry in 9th, A II in 10th) so I didn't have a math my junior and senior year.

In college, I took Statistics, just because it counted as my math credit, and for some odd reason, a credit toward my poli sci minor. And it was taught by a psych teacher. So it wasn't that difficult. I'm never taking another math class again. Ick.

ADqtPiMel 08-04-2005 09:56 AM

Precalculus in high school, statistics in college. I'm dumb in math.

AZ-AlphaXi 08-04-2005 10:18 AM

Multivariable calc. I started out life as a math major.

Taualumna 08-04-2005 10:30 AM

The highest level of math I took was AP Calculus. The highest level I COMPLETED was a "regular" OAC (OAC--the fifth year of high school in Ontario that now no longer exists. OAC and AP Calc are now offered to Grade 12s) Calculus because I couldn't keep up. The "regular" course is slightly slower and covers slightly less material.

ISUKappa 08-04-2005 10:32 AM

AP Calculus for one semester in high school.

Statistics 101 in college -- the only "math" class required by my major.

nauadpi 08-04-2005 10:35 AM

In high school I took through AP Calculus... In college I went through Differential Equations... Which means I took Calc 2 and 3 in college as well... I was a Physics and Astronomy Major... Also I had to take a Mathmatics for Physics Students class... I almost ended up taking more math, but I decided against the math minor...

PoohsHoneyBee 08-04-2005 12:28 PM

College Algebra...sounds pathetic but i hate math

RedRoseSAI 08-04-2005 12:33 PM

Math 101, in college. I'm horrible at math - I'm an artist, not a number cruncher.

Intense1920 08-04-2005 12:35 PM

Differential Equations. I was ready to stop after Cal III but my advisor made me take DE since it was part of the scheme. :(

epchick 08-04-2005 12:57 PM

I took up to Cal 2 in college. The teacher was an asshole and failed 75% of the class. Fortunately i was able to pass with a "C" and that made me realize that although i'm good at Calculus, i'm not going to risk my GPA trying to take Cal 3. lol.

peanutttu 08-04-2005 01:00 PM

It is horrible that I don't remember excactly, but I think in high school it was Pre-Calculus. It college it was Trig. I only had to have algebra and trig for my major.

Lady Pi Phi 08-04-2005 01:38 PM

I only have grade 11 advanced math (under the older Ontario curriculum).

I barely passed that course. I went to 2 classes of grade 12 math then dropped the course.

I did take statistics in university (but barely passed that too)

As you can see, I suck at math.

flirt5721 08-04-2005 02:39 PM

So far I've taken Calc. I, II, and III, along with Differential Equations, Vector Analysis (with Introduction to Electromagnetics), and I still need like 2 or 3 400 level course. Electrical Engineering Major so i need to take a lot of math.

sageofages 08-04-2005 02:43 PM

AP Caluculus in HS senior year, Calc I & II in college. Statistics as well in college.

I liked math, it just wasn't in my major field and I didn't need more than that, and I didn't have the extra $$ to take it as an elective ;)

Stef the Pef 08-04-2005 03:03 PM

AP Caluculus AB, junior year of high school--and that means I'm done with poli sci's math requirement and I'm very happy that I can avoid math in college! Blecch, math is not fun to me.

Xylochick216 08-04-2005 06:31 PM

AP Calc in high school... we had the bet teacher. It was one of my favorite classes :)

In college I took a few mat courses. I think calc II was the highest I took.

Munchkin03 08-04-2005 07:15 PM

Stats in HS (both at the local college and AP), and Calc in college.

Rollergirl2001 08-04-2005 07:23 PM

High School: Algebra II, took it in my senior year. I was supposed to get done with math in my juinor year, but I've got held back at my freshman year when they placed me out of my Algebra I class and put me in Pre-Algebra. I did pretty well in math until Geometry came along.

Freshman Year: Pre-Algebra
Sophmore Year: Algebra I
Junior Year: Geometry
Senior Year: Algebra II

College: Psych Stats (Junior level course). The first time, I made a D and I had to take it over, becasue I can't take the research course with a D in stats. The second time, I made a B. I took the course with the same professor.

Also, in Elementary Calculus, I barely passed that class and College Algebra. That's what I get for stopping at Algebra II at my senior year.

I can't understand why people like math. I hate math!

bekibug 08-05-2005 12:47 AM

Business Stats at AU, and I was damn glad to get out of it too. I don't remember my grade, but it wasn't a good one. Thankfully, I do remember what I did learn and understand what I didn't.

I hate Excel.

amanda6035 08-05-2005 10:33 AM

I actually JUST finished my LAST math class! Discrete Math. I passed with a D for DONE. I dont set my standards very high for math classes...I dont have the patience for them, but I'm finished now. Well, I still have to take accounting 1, but thats not a "math" class.

_Opi_ 08-05-2005 10:53 AM

Stats I in college

And I have to place out of the Math requirement in order to graduate. I have one semester left, and I haven't taken the exam yet...

Oh well..

sigtau305 08-05-2005 11:36 AM

Had taken Statistics as the highest. Now I have to take two Liberal Arts Math Classes to complete my lower requirements to graduate.

jubilance1922 08-05-2005 11:47 AM

AP Calculus in HS.

Linear algebra and differential equations in college.

alphaxikt 08-05-2005 12:10 PM

2nd quarter calculus in college. I started quarter #3 of college calc, but dropped it because it was summer quarter, the TA who was teaching the class didn't speak English, and it was "recommended but not required" for my major. Kinda wish I had finished the course now, since I would like to be able to teach middle school math but I don't have quite enough coursework. Oh well.

Oh yeah: I took statistics too. If anyone is planning to go to grad school in science, education, or any type of social science, taking stats as an undergrad is a VERY smart move. I didn't realize just how helpful a basic descriptive statistics class would be in a Masters-in-Teaching program. My dad was right, as hard as it is to admit it. :)

JenMarie 08-05-2005 12:35 PM

Trig in High School... Math 1 in college (kinda like college algebra.)

Major didn't require math so I didn't take any beyond freshman year.

TNPhiMu 08-05-2005 12:35 PM

Let's see, in High School I took Algebra I in 9th, Geometry and Algebra II in 10th, PreCalculus in 11th, and Calc./Stats in 12th. Then, my first semester in college, I took Calc. I.... then I ran as far as possible away from any math class ever again =)

aephi alum 08-05-2005 01:01 PM

AP Calculus (BC) in high school. I had the world's worst teacher. He'd taught the AB curriculum for years. He spent the first four months of the year going over things we'd covered in pre-calc. On the day before the AP exam, he said, "Well, we didn't get to integrating over a circle, but don't worry, it hasn't been on the test in the past twenty years." Guess what was question 1 of part 2.

In college I had to take multivariable calculus and differential equations, plus a bunch of statistics classes. I HATE STATISTICS. Plus, there was a lot of math worked into my engineering classes. May I never see another z-transform.

TheEpitome1920 08-05-2005 01:28 PM

Statistics in college..

starang21 08-05-2005 07:00 PM

differential equations.

KSUViolet06 08-05-2005 09:55 PM

In high school I went up to Honors Geometry in 12th grade.

College- I'm an English major so I only needed Intro to College Algebra.
:D

aggieAXO 08-05-2005 10:39 PM

Calculus as a soph. in college-I loved this class ( the only math class I took and disliked was geometry in H.S.) I would have taken more but did not need it for vet. school and has way too many other classes to take.

lagirl33 08-27-2005 09:34 PM

hehe...
I'm a math and computer science major...

This past year (my first year) I took multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and differential equations.
And now I'm starting my upper div math classes...

AUDeltaGam 08-27-2005 11:16 PM

In undergrad, I took pre-cal Algebra/Trig and a stats class.

In grad school, I have to take one stats class.

AznSAE 08-28-2005 03:04 PM

calculus 3

i took differential equations after calc 3 but decided to drop because 1) it was too hard 2) the professor sucked 3) i didnt need it for my major.

Exquisite5 09-20-2005 02:09 PM

High school: cal 1

Undergrad: Differential Equations

deadbear80 09-25-2005 10:32 AM

In High School, I went up to AP Calculus (I took the AB exam).

In College, I only needed one semester of Psychological Statistics for my major, so that's all I took...figured I paid my dues enough with Calc in high school.

GeekyPenguin 09-25-2005 11:31 AM

High school: AP Calc - was taught to the BC exam, but I took the AB because I was lazy

College: Calc II with the most evil prof ever, after which I changed my major. At least I passed!

Coramoor 10-06-2005 12:52 PM

Def.EQ.

The hardest math class I've taken was an upper level stats class. It's bad when you are sitting in class confused and you don't even know what questions to ask to try and understand the material.

If you only seen the faces you described in my 434 Urban Data Analysis ( Statistics) class last fall semester. I'm just glad I passed the course. :)
