A Gator's Rush Story '05
 

This fall I will be rushing! And I am very excited. There are 16 sororities and I have nicknamed them all according to designer handbags :)

Good luck! As a Florida-lover, I love the FL rush threads!! So if this is dumb queston, sorry, but I am guessing gatorgirl and girliegator are going through rush together? This should be very interesting! Have we had two girls go through the same rush before?

Yes, a few years ago, we had 3 PNMs rushing @ UF at the same time. Two of them pledged (one went Kappa, the other became a colonizing member of DZ), and the 3rd dropped out.

What was really neat is that all the girls kept us up-to-date on a daily basis - they didn't disappear.

Good luck from a former Gator...I know who I'll be rooting for. You are lucky UF is full of great chapters to choose from...almost every chapter there is very strong.

Well, monday is moving day, tuesday is our mandatory meeting, and wednesday is the beginning of round 1.

i've been shopping all week. and my poor mom has had the pleasure of coming along with me. she truly is a saint.

Round one is officially over. We cut it down to 11, with five alternates ranked in order from our favorite to least favorite.

Here is how my list looked...

My top 11:
Burberry
Chanel
Dooney and Burke
Coach
Vera Bradley
Brighton
Marc Jacobs

Fendi
Louis Vuitton
Balenciaga

My least favorite in order from favorite to least favorite (confusing, i know sorry):
1. Versace
2. Kate Spade

We'll see who asks me back tomorrow! There are a bunch that I love, and I really really want to see those on my schedule...but we'll see

I'm curious to hear a bit more about your impressions on each house. What did you love about your favorites? What were the parties like?

GatorGirl is probably choosing to be discreet with her details and who can blame her? She'll tell us what she wants to when she wants to. If she reveals too much...well some GCers might be able to figure out what group she's talking about. Maybe after rush is over she'll be able to say more.

Gotcha, ZTA Mich! I just thought that with so many girls going through rush at UF, nobody would have any clue who she was. But, I guess it's better to err on being vague.

But when it's all over... I want details! :D

So I have to say that this morning I was a nervous wreck, and sleeping was close to impossible.

But fortunately I was very very happy when I recieved my schedule...

Out of the 11 that I wanted to return to the most, two dropped me, and my top two replacements asked me back so those were put into my schedule. One of the two that dropped me was one house that I liked a lot, and the other I was just ok with. So my list looked something like this:

1. Burberry
2. Chanel
3. Dooney and Burke
4. Coach
5. Vera Bradley
6. Brighton
7. Marc Jacobs
8. Fendi
9. Louis Vuitton
10. Kate Spade
11. Versace

The two that dropped me were Balenciaga (I was just ok with), and Gucci (I liked).

So far I'm sooooooooooo happy...I hope I made good second impressions on my favorite houses today...and I hope everything goes great tomorrow!

Tomorrow we go down to 7! So i'll keep everyone posted.
