I have OFFICIALLY found my home!

Today I recieved word from the local Alumane group for the "Pina Coladas" and I have been officially approved for Alumnae Initiation. For those of you who missed my earlier threads, I named them that due to a fabulous Southern Living cheesecake recipe I made to bring to one of their luncheons.

I am so thrilled! My new member training materials were sent out via UPS yesterday and the Alumnae president (my sponsor) recieved them today. We are going to get started as soon as possible and, god willing, I will be initiated with the new member class in the Fall (collegiate president has given her blessing).

I know I need to come up with some serious clues for you, but let's recap a few from my earlier threads. I'm located in what is commonly considered Central Florida. Remember that covers any and all colleges like: UF, Univ. of South Florida, Univ. of Tampa, UCF, Florida Tech, Florida Southern, Rollins College, Stetson University. In other words, I'm located somewhere in "Hurricane Alley" as I like to call it!

To throw you guys a bone, I will say that it is a 3 Greek letter sorority. So although I know Phi Mu, Delta Zeta, Delta Gamma, Alpha Phi, Chi Omega, Kappa Delta and Sigma Kappa are great groups, they are not my home.

I will say that although some of the southern states aren't as full of Pina Colada chapters as some other sororities, there definitely is space to expand.

I will think of more clues later! Thank you all for your support and encouragement!

-FloridaTish :)

honeychile 07-26-2005 09:23 PM

I get first guess?

I'm going with Kappa Kappa Gamma !!!!!

WCUgirl 07-26-2005 09:25 PM

I'm sticking with my original guesses - Alpha Xi Delta and Delta Delta Delta.

SmartBlondeGPhB 07-26-2005 09:34 PM

Yeah!

Congratulations!

Must have been the cheesecake..........:D

Well it's not a two letter group but that still leaves a LOT of groups.

I'm lazy so I'm not spelling them out (and you'll just have to forgive me if I abbreviate wrong)..........

AXO
ADPi
AEPhi
AGD
AOPi
ASA
AST
AXiD
DDD
DPhiE
GPhiB
KAT
KKG
PhiSS
PiBPhi
SDT
SSS
TPhiA
ZTA

I'm going to guess AOPi. Don't know why, but that sounds about right.

Now I know that some of these rarely do AI but I'll let someone else narrow those ones down.

Edited: because I skipped right over a couple.

WCUgirl 07-26-2005 09:40 PM

Tish,

According to the other thread, we had narrowed it down to these groups. Can you confirm that it is one of these groups for us? Please??!!! :D

See..............Told you I was lazy.:D Can't even check my own post.

Well I stick with my guess of AOPi.

The B Girl 07-26-2005 11:39 PM

Yea! Good for you, Florida Tish!!!

Hey Jill, where are you and those bamboo shoots? Bring em on!!! ;)

This is a HARD one, throwing us a curve like that....

but I would guess.... Alpha Xi Delta (not extremely prevalent in the South) but at 3 of the schools that you mentioned in Central Florida.

Wherever you end up, congratulations and best of luck to you!!

FloridaTish 07-27-2005 12:31 AM

Yes, the Pina Colada's are one of the 6 groups mentioned in an earlier post.

I SOOOO want to tell you all right now! I want to scream it from the roof tops and want to shout with joy that in a few short months I will be a sister of....

Nah! Not going to say just yet, but I thought of a very random, but perfect clue to give out. If you have a bit of knowledge when it comes to 80's music and movie trivia you will get it for sure!

I think I'll save it for tomorrow or maybe the morning after, though!

ms_gwyn 07-27-2005 12:52 AM

I have an idea but I won't name it just yet, I want to see some more clues.....

I was right on 2 of the guessing threads, so I think I can do it :D

oh btw.......

CONGRATULATIONS!

the class of 2005 keeps on growing and these are good times.

woo hoo!

polarpi 07-27-2005 01:01 AM

I want to throw my congratulations in there as well - I may not be able to check the boards for a few days, but Congratulations to you and the women of Pina Coladas! :D

Sister Havana 07-27-2005 08:57 AM

Congratulations!

Waiting for the next clue to make my guess... :D

greeklawgirl 07-27-2005 10:58 AM

I'm going to make a shameless plug and state that I think that FloridaTish is going to be an Alpha Gamma Delta! :)

tunatartare 07-27-2005 11:04 AM

One guess for Gamma Phi Beta here.

LouisaMay 07-27-2005 12:37 PM

Oh boy!!! I'm so excited for you:) I can't wait to hear your news.

LM

ZTAngel 07-27-2005 01:08 PM

She did say that the group doesn't have as many chapters in the South so I'm going to guess either DPhiE, GPhiB or AXiD.

Jill1228 07-27-2005 01:12 PM

Got the bamboo shoots and vice grips ready! :D

Congrats Tish!

My guesses:
Gamma Phi Beta
Alpha Gamma Delta
Alpha Xi Delta

Getting ready to use those vice grips....

A little 80's trivia...

I am going to give out 2 clues for you, one a little more obscure than the other, but if you know your 80's trivia, you may be able to figure out who the Pina Colada's are. I'm an 80's junkie so I had to figure a way to work one of my favorite decades into my reveal...

1) My sorority's symbol can be found on the 80's album cover that contained the song "Union of the Snake"...

2) If you know what popular 80's movie had the quote "Lorraine, my density has brought me to you." (and no, density is not a typo), you'd see that one of the main characters shares the title and name of someone who had a lasting influence on the Pina Colada sorority...

I know these will give it away...but I just wanted to give you guys a couple of last clues!

And, thank you all for your well wishes...I am truly blessed that AI came into my life so unexpectedly!

tunatartare 07-27-2005 01:48 PM

Once again, reiterating my guess for Gamma Phi Beta. There is a crescent moon on the album cover. Gotta love Google Image Search.

greeklawgirl 07-27-2005 01:49 PM

OH!

Congratulations!!! I figured it out! :D

SmartBlondeGPhB 07-27-2005 01:52 PM

Those were good clues...................forced them to do a little work there.

I have no idea what the second clue is, but I've known all along so it doesn't much matter.:p :p :p

As I've already said CONGRATULATIONS!!

:D :D :D :D

ms_gwyn 07-27-2005 01:57 PM

I knew it.....

WCUgirl 07-27-2005 02:00 PM

Ick -- I have no idea about that second clue. I missed the 80s the first time around and am avoiding it like the plague this second time too. :p

I'm so bad at guessing these. :(

Congratulations!!

GCrose34 07-27-2005 02:01 PM

the movie quote is Back to the Future

FloridaTish 07-27-2005 02:07 PM

The 2nd clue referenced "Back to the Future" where george McFly was trying to ask Marty's mom, Lorraine to the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. The inventor of the time machine was "Doc Brown".... Gamma Phi Beta's National colors: Brown and Mode, in honor of Dr. J.J. Brown who lent his study for Friday meetings in the early years of the society. See I told you it was obscure!

I figured the crescent moon on the Duran Duran album cover would be a dead giveaway...

So, yes, this Fall I will be initiated as an AI at the Delta Sigma chapter of Gamma Phi Beta at Florida Tech!

I am so excited and so thrilled to become a part of a wonderful sisterhood...I promise I will make everyone proud!

And a wonderful Gamma Phi she will be too. :)

And actually, in current times a woman named Lorraine is VERY instrumental in running our organization............(she helps with alumnae services)

ms_gwyn 07-27-2005 02:23 PM

WOO HOO!!!!!

once again

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

to you and

Gamma Phi Beta

WCUgirl 07-27-2005 02:23 PM

honeychile 07-27-2005 02:34 PM

Congratulations to both you and Gamma Phi Beta!!!

ms_gwyn 07-27-2005 02:38 PM

of course you realize Tish that I have

"union of the snake" repeatedly in my head.......

:p

FloridaTish 07-27-2005 02:41 PM

Thank you all so much!

The funny thing about this is that it it all doesn't seem real...I actually had to stop what I was doing, take a quick look around and wonder if I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming or not...I was as paitient as possible waiting to see if my paperwork would be approved and I guess that now that the waiting is over, I just don't know what to do with myself...

Although, now I have the feeling of complete and utter excitement!

tunatartare 07-27-2005 02:44 PM

Congratulations to FloridaTish and Gamma Phi Beta!!!

Sister Havana 07-27-2005 03:14 PM
