Dude I totally saww that too and was going to post it goodlookin out

SouthernXO 07-20-2005 03:14 AM

I saw that too. What I thought was interesting was that there is a thread on this site about greeks going on RealWorld, etc and a lot of people said that at the very least they were encouraged to be discrete with their letters if they were going on the show. I guess we'll find out if Johanna will help or hurt the Gamma Phi rep.

squirrely girl 07-20-2005 04:16 AM

well on the plus side, she hasn't stripped down and run around the house with a whip yet! so yeah!

Except getting sloppy drunk which in the longrun Danny ended up having to get surgery on his eye for.

But I do like her a lot better than the others.

OleMissGlitter 07-20-2005 11:55 AM

I wonder what chapter she is from?

She's an idiot.

MoonStar17 07-20-2005 12:32 PM

I think johanna is doing OK so far, but its still early to really determine.

the one i think is a total idiot is melinda.. seriously..
she has a 3 year boyfriend ...breaks up with him for this guy on the show, acts like a SL*T, and prances around..and shes already telling danny... "oh i like you more than anyone ive ever been with" shes known him for HOW LONG? i think danny is going to see eventually that she is one bullet he needs to dodge and QUICK.. Danny's a cutie but she needs to learn some restraint and not throw herself on any cute guy willing to give her attention.

those are my two pennies anyways.. she just annoys me.

AXWhoah 07-20-2005 04:18 PM

Psshhh, I don't think any of them are that bad (well except when Melinda came out in that black outfit, can anyone say "look at me!"?). Besides these shows are edited to the nth degree....We see what the producers want us to see, we see a character that has been fabricated from snippets of someone's life. These people are probably so much more complex than frat guy, slutty chick, punk-y chick, etc. It's unfair to judge them, this show is for entertainment. The most important thing to remember is reality television is not reality.

BabyPiNK_FL 07-20-2005 09:18 PM

Drinking problem much?

I think she has a REAL problem with alcohol. If when you get drunk you get mad and sorta lose your mind, and you know this and still drink to that point...you have a drinking problem. She went buck wild all over Nehemiah (sp?) I would definitely not want to know someone like that at ALL. And don't get me started on Melinda, I hope next time someone gets knocked the **** out, it's her. She needs to get some sense from somewhere. And some pants.

She said she is from Riverside, CA. There is a UC Riverside that I *think* has a Gammi Phi chapter. I'd wager that's where she's from.

Yes i agree... get the girl a pair of pants for goodness sakes!

mmcat 07-21-2005 11:46 PM

itty bitty point...
put the cast in the back of a pickup and have them give a rousing "eeehaw" in the intro to each show.
guess what...austin is a bit sophisticated and the capital.
that's kind of insulting.
i live in el paso and i drive a hyundai.
go fish.

rocketgirl 07-22-2005 06:18 AM

lol...but hey reguardless of how stupid everyone is...that's why the show is what it is. they get people that are going to be drunk and dumb so that we can watch, laugh and talk about them and they get ratings. go mtv, lol

She actually resigned her membership a couple of years ago, and has NO right to be wearing those letters.

Johanna Botta initiated with the Sorority in November, 2001, but she voluntarily resigned her membership on March 12, 2004. Her membership was terminated later that year. As a part of her signed resignation, Botta agreed in writing: “I will no longer wear the Sorority’s insignia.” Accordingly, Ms. Botta is not entitled to identify herself as a member of Gamma Phi Beta or to wear identifying letters or insignia.

whittleschmeg 08-13-2005 11:02 PM

Is anyone planning on doing something about this??? I don't know if someone was wearing my letteers/insignia and wasn't allowed too I would be pretty upset. Maybe its really not that big a deal.

Lindz928 08-13-2005 11:03 PM

I think they are all idiots. Man, this show has gone WAY downhill since I started watching it sometime around San Francisco. I don't need to watch a bunch of dumbass kids get drunk and have sex.... That is not the real world- it is a fantasy land.

Also, I live in Austin. There is SO much wonderful stuff to do and see here, and yet they show more of 6th street than anything else.

I have decided no more watching this show. I have better things to do.

*Getting off soapbox now. Sorry* ;)

mmcat 08-13-2005 11:28 PM

eeeh-haaaa.
need i say more. austin is one of the more upscale areas in the state. the standard opening is eeeeh-haaa in the back of a pickup.
that doesn't wash in the state capitol.
they should be a bit embarrased.

I HATE that they are feeding into the stereotypes of Texas. I've lived here my whole life and can't remember the last time I said "Yeehaw".

The info mania 72 posted is a portion of the letter that our IH sent out to members. The entire text can be found in our forum in the Real World thread.

But they are well aware of the situation though I am not sure what was done about it (since it's a taped show and taping is finished).

roqueemae 08-14-2005 01:37 AM

I wonder how many other "famous" members had resigned but the sorority comes back around when there is a little name recognition involved. I know of at least one...

If this is true, perhaps it's intended to be an insult.

She went on to have a low level of fame as a spokeswoman and some might consider her a b-list actress at best. I now see her listed as a Famous Alumna of this sorority and it always confuses me. The chapter on campus will never mention her name, but the national organization does.
That's a little different from Johanna's case then. In this case, the sorority acknowledges the girl as a member. In Johanna's case, she chooses to identify herself as a member of Gamma Phi Beta, while the sorority says that she is no longer a member.

roqueemae 08-14-2005 11:06 AM

I know it is a little different but I am still highly offended when women do not take the commitment to her fraternity as seriously as I. And then to flaunt it on TV. I would be a pissed off member

I agree...a big f-u to G Phi B on national television. If this is the case, MTV should be contacted and they can very easily blur the letters. They do it all the time with brand logos and such.

I'm sorry, but this quote is so tacky. When you bash other women who are or were members of the greek system, regardless of their standing with their chapter, is a reflection on you, not her.

I find it amazing that this day in age women continue to give other women a hard time for behavior that is accepted among men. These are the divisive comments about fellow greeks that give sororities a bad reputation!Do you realize that potential members read these boards? How can we expect people to respect us if we can't even respect our fellow members -- public figures or not.

Even if you were on her chapter's standards boards, or part of her national organization, you would have no business commenting on her memembership status.

She was Miss USA, the Doritos girl, and might be considered a b-list actress. The number of stars you used in your quote perfectly spells out her name, so there is really no denying that you were referring to her.

Just so you know, I did have an IDEA that she might have been talking about Ali Landry, but would not have know for sure if YOU had not said it straight out. At least SHE was being somewhat subtle and not naming names bluntly. I found your post to be just as rude and could easily have been done in a PM so as to not bring it into the entire thread.

If you thought it was so bad, then you also could have left the name out as well. :(

There was nothing subtle about that post. It didn't take a genius to figure it out.

Assaulting anyone's charachter (named or unnamed) on a post that potential PNMs and other greeks may be reading is unacceptable. I could have addressed it in a PM, but there are far too many postings like these on Greekchat. And if someone really wanted to know, she could have sent it to them in a PM or they could've asked in a PM!

pinkyphimu 08-14-2005 09:16 PM

no offense, but honestly, i had no idea who she was talking about until someone said her name point blank. and truthfully, i would never have figured it out bc i have other things to do with my life then research each npc orgs website and check where all of their b-list actresses went to college. but, maybe that is just me.

and kudos to gphib for sending out that info to their membership!!!

CarolinaDG 08-14-2005 09:17 PM

I dunno... I didn't know that information about her until you told the name, so I highly doubt a PNM would. I suggest all of the posts relating to this be deleted, personally.

squirrely girl 08-14-2005 09:24 PM

i usually stay out of this sort of thing, but damn girl! i was sitting over here COMPLETELY clueless til you mentioned it. not to be mean, but there is a reason people will be subtle when they're speaking. so that those who are in the know can remain in the know, and those who aren't, stay that way.

So about Michelle Pfiffer fiffer or however you spell her name was a ADPi from Goldwest College?

Do you think Katy Gouric is on perkiness steroids?

And about that rappin granny. Is it true she invented hip hop?
