Goblet of Fire Teaser Trailer

http://harrypotter.warnerbros.com/go...re/index.html#

There you'll go. The teaser trailer really makes me want to see the regular trailer and the movie.

Lady Pi Phi 07-19-2005 12:00 PM

OMG that looks so awsome!!!

Is it November yet??

christiangirl 07-19-2005 12:38 PM

AAAAAAUUUUUGGGHHHH!!!! That looks fabulous, I can't wait!!!! Ooooh, I hope I can get someone to go with me, I'll be away at college so my sister's out. I don't know anyone who read HP at school, I'll have to ask around. I can't wait, it actually gave me goosebumps.

ZTABullwinkle 07-19-2005 12:39 PM

Isn't that the same trailer someone posted o nhere a long time ago. I agree it looks awesome. I am glad they didn't break the book up into two movies as originally planned.

JenMarie 07-19-2005 12:59 PM

It's somewhere way back on the Speculation thread I believe.

*wonders why these threads can't be merged with THAT one...*

ASUADPi 07-19-2005 03:12 PM

Okay first off, sorry didn't want to search a speculation thread for a teaser trailer.

Second their two different threads. One is about the movie and the other was a speculation thread for the book. We know what's going to happen in the movie, but we don't know what is happening in the books until they are out. So now the speculation thread will delve into Book 7.

Christiangirl: What part of Cali do you live in? I ask because I'm actually gonna fly to San Diego for that weekend and go see GoF with one of my sisters.

JenMarie 07-19-2005 03:44 PM

Oh we talk about the movie in there too.

When I originally started that thread, it WAS a speculation only thread. However it kinda warped itself into a general HP thread, except more book oriented now that the 6th book is out. I don't think many people know that.

Just saying... I like my HP, but the amount of threads coming out of this forum can all go to one place IMO (cept maybe the spoilers). But hey... I'm not the mod of this forum.

ASUADPi 07-19-2005 03:51 PM

just leave it for the mod's to decide. I'm sure they say something if they decide to merge the threads.

but back to the movie...

I'm very excited to see this movie.

Although the teaser is short I really liked the following:

What the Goblet of Fire looked like. That was pretty cool.

I have to admit I think it's cute how they have definately grown up. Does anyone know how old the actors are in real life? Aren't they around the same age as the characters? Give or take a couple of years.

I wanna see the actor who plays Viktor (is that how is name was spelled?) because you know in the book he's supposed to be the one all the girls swoon over. He he.

The part with the dragons looked so cool.

Do we know who is directing this?

Would that be polarpi? I have yet to meet her, but if you wouldn't mind some company, I can take the train down to SD and tag along (of course with an invite!)

Why start another reply....I am not going to be happy with this movie, I already know that, so I am going just for the ride. To have the World Cup cut down to almost nothing, makes me not a happy girl....but again....I will go see this movie and moan about what was left out afterwards. I am trying really hard to take the movies as "stand alone".

And I know that no one who is a fan of the book is ever really happy with movie (goes with any books...read Jurassic Park).

gwyn

ASUADPi 07-19-2005 05:02 PM

Yes it's polarpi. That would be so much fun!!! We should totally try to plan that!!!!!

So they cut the world cup down? that sucks. But then again if I can handle watching PoA and they cut like half the book, I think I can handle GoF which is supposedly 2.5 hours long. PoA, I think was under 2 hours.

Oh, I don't live anywhere near Diego, and my school's out-of-state anyway. But thanx anyway, very sweet of you. :D

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) will be 16 in a few days.

Rupert Grint (Ron) will be 17 next month.

Emma Watson (Hermione) is 15.

I love www.imdb.com :)

Fleur Delacour (Clemence Poesy)

I'm so excited to see Miranda Richardson in this role.

The actor who plays Viktor (he's in the picture Lindz928 posted) is Stanislav Lanevski. I'm not even going to begin to know how to say that name.

SSS1365, thanks for the ages. When I was at the bookstore the other night some of the people were thinking that the actors will be replaced with younger ones because of their ages and the fact that 07 is when OotP is to be released (so assuming 09 for HBP and 11 for #7, give or take). The actors will be in their early 20's for them.

Personally, I think it would be stupid to get new actors because we would be so used to them.

Plus, if 90210 can have an actor or actress who were in their late 20's and early 30's playing HIGH SCHOOLERS, I think HP can have actors in their early 20's playing high schoolers.

ms_gwyn 07-19-2005 06:09 PM

I am very great full for all the eye candy....

yum!

viktor is such a hottie.

I will take you guys up on the offer, let's start making plans

Given the GoF cover, did anyone else imagine Fleur with bigger, wavier hair? And I always imagined Viktor darker skinned, but I'm not sure why. Oh well, they look good to me, I just need time to hurry up a bit.

Is it just me or does that last pic of Harry look like Johnny Depp in the Chocolate Factory?

ASUADPi 07-20-2005 09:27 AM

With Fleur, not that the actress isn't pretty, I pictured someone just absolutely drop dead gorgeous. I say this because that is how she is described. Because she is, oh man what is it called, I just remember during the Quidditch match at the beginning of the book Fleur is called something (I don't have the books in front of me, I lent them to my mom to read). I just remember that whatever she is the men just fawned all over themselves and her because she was just so incredibly beautiful.

The actor who is playing Krum looks like a good fit.

Although I pictured more "the boy next door" for Cedric, but maybe its just the shot of Cedric that is on the site.

I was thinking the same thing! Fleur is half veela, I believe... those women/creatures that are so drop-dead gorgeous and enchanting that they sort of put men in a trance. So I was expecting someone stunningly beautiful to be playing Fleur. The actress isn't ugly... but she just isn't what I expected.

Ditto. Perhaps she just has a really strong French accent, which Fleur has in the books, and can act. But I've seen her pics... eh, alright. Same with the actress who plays Cho... there aren't screen pics of her yet, but just pictures in general. Not quite what I had in mind, but I'm not the casting director.

There have been test screening reviews posted. (Check MN for links.) While it was nice to hear "spoilers" the people that were doing the reviews have never read the books! So I don't know how true to the books they are. Apparently the graveyard scene is QUITE freaky.

Veela, that was the word. Thank you. But your right, she isn't drop dead gorgeous, but she is pretty.

As for the accent, given enough practice I could learn an accent and I'm not a trained actor. I really think they, and I hate to say this, should have been looking for an actress who fit the "look" of the role. Then find out if they could do the accent or not. Which for a movie, the casting director probably made it obvious that if you couldn't do a French accent you "need not apply".

There are pictures of Cho? I couldn't find one.

Are there any pictures of Ralph Fiennes yet? I'm so excited to see him as Voldemort.

JenMarie 07-20-2005 12:59 PM

Pics of the actress playing Cho: Katie Leung

There are a couple of scans (almost like tabloid shots) toward the bottom.

According to one of the reviews I read, Fiennes does a good Voldie, but I guess the CGI wasn't complete so all the reviewer saw in the test screening was Fiennes with red dots all over him. I assume the animation will be a lot better for the final movie. :p And will probably be quite elaborate and not look like Fiennes AT ALL.

ETA: HA! I just looked at the bio for the actress playing Fleur. Apparently she was in "Revelations," that odd miniseries that came out a while ago. From the listing on IMDB, it didn't look like she was a major character, but I didn't watch it so I'm not sure.

ETA again:

I'm assuming that Fleur's character falls under the same clause that ALL actors in the movies must be English... unless otherwise needed. Apparently the only non-English actor in the movies so far is the guy who plays Seamus... because he's Irish. Perhaps the French teen audition selections were limited. Hell, I'd love to play Tonks in movie five, and I could probably train to learn an English accent, but I wouldn't be able to. It sucks, because Renee Zellwigger can get away with in in Bridget Jones, but we can't for Harry Potter. Oh well.

I'm not trying to pick on you. ;):D

The actress playing Fleur is from Paris, that actor play Karkaroff is from Belgrade and I believe the actor play Krum is also from Eastern Europe somewhere (sorry I can't remember which country).

While there are a few American actors that can pull of a very good English accent, there are many who...for lack of a better term...just suck!
I think J.K wanted to make sure the casting director did not cast an actor like this, just because they have a big box office draw.

I wish I could find her exact reasoning for this. But I'll admit I am gratefully for this stipulation. I for one would hate to have seen Haley Joel Osment (sp?) playing Harry Potter.

ASUADPi 07-20-2005 01:41 PM

It seems though for characters, non-major, that it shouldn't matter if they are Non-English. Personal opinion there.

I think if you ask JK, there aren't really any non-mjor characters. They all play a role. It's also easier since they film in London.

They aren't going to hold casting calls all over the place for non-major characters.

ETA: After reading some things, I think her rule is more that she wants to make sure that her actors have English accent as opposed to faking an English is because she wanted the accents to be flawless to offer more authenticity. You'll find that the England is full of Scots and the Irish, but not some much with the North American accents. I guess she didn't want to run the risk of an actor slipping up and having the North American accetn come out. I'm sure we've all seen actors do that.

I don't know. I'm speculating here again. I think for her it's all about Authenticity (well as much as you can have in a fictional work).

It works both ways too. Huge Laurie, the actor in House, is English. But he plays a doctor in New Jersey (I'm assuming). Sometimes when he has to say "ya'll" it looks a little strained. Kind of amusing.

But I think JKR has her reasons. I imagine all the kids who don't have any lines at all are Non-American, for logistics.

SSS1365 07-20-2005 07:58 PM

Here's another Katie Leung pic (though not from the movie):

http://www.myblog.fr/albums/Casting-...er-4/85096.jpg

I think she's really pretty.

christiangirl 07-20-2005 10:34 PM

I was going to post that picture! Grrrr....fine, quick fingers! ;) I think she's pretty too, but I did imagine Cho younger and a little thicker with a more rounded face...I don't know, more childlike.

I could have seen Haley as Harry, too, but Daniel's a better fit, even if he wasn't as well-known here in the States. Anyway, Bill'd better watch out, remember how veela get when they're angry. Honestly, I see this as more of an Arthur/Molly marriage..."Don't make her angry Bill, don't you do it..."

JenMarie 07-21-2005 09:38 AM

See now that's a better picture of Katie. All the ones I saw posted weren't her in a good light. But that one is pretty good.

Oh for sure! It's definitly a skill. Some people have it, some people don't.

I can do a pretty decent London accent, but ask me to do a Northern accent and forget about it.

lyrica9 07-21-2005 07:52 PM

my problem with katie leung is that she's too pretty.
don't know why, but i just didn't imagine cho as being overly pretty, but more cute.

Well in the picture I posted, she's all made up. It looks like a modeling shot or something. But in other photos I've seen of her where she isn't all dolled up, she looks cute but not "overly pretty." I can't find it now, but there's one picture of her dressed for a Quidditch match, and she's just cute.
