2005 SEC Recruitment Discussion

Alright y'all, it's beginning.

That is all for now.

AchtungBaby80 07-14-2005 09:58 PM

Then that ought to be really interesting! ;)

TSteven 07-14-2005 10:04 PM

The SEC Rocks!

carnation 07-14-2005 10:29 PM

Word word! :)

I know women who are rushing at several SEC schools! The first recruitment, I think, is Auburn's--at least the mom of the girl I wrote a rec for said something about her leaving on August 6th. I am reaaaalllly hoping that one of the girls I wrote recs for at UGa and Auburn will go Pi Phi!

WARRRR EAGLE!!!!!

WOOOOO PIG SOOOIEE!!!!

HAIL STATE!!!!

AOIIalum 07-15-2005 06:44 AM

Oh boy, a whole thread dedicated to the SEC. Can't get much better than that!

FSUZeta 07-15-2005 07:42 AM

bekibug, please keep us updated on the auburn recruitment. i have a childhood friend who lives in alabama whose daughter is going thru recruitment this year. she is a legacy to one sorority and has a cousin currently in another. auburn is always exciting!!

Zillini 07-15-2005 08:14 AM

I just checked and as of today Bama has 890 PNMs registered. The deadline is still nearly 4 weeks away. I think we'll probably be looking at around 1200 give or take. If so, that would be about a 20% increase over last year.

Wow and to think that nationally Greek numbers are declining. Looks like the Greek system is alive and well in the SEC!

PhoenixAzul 07-15-2005 08:14 AM

My Auburn friend is allready dreading it! Hehe. He's a guy, they just don't understand what we're so on about.

UKDaisy 07-15-2005 04:08 PM

That is awesome!!!

Carnation I hope you get a Pi Phi this year!!;)

I won't be able to post during rush b/c I"ll be at the KD House doing the whole rush thing. But I'll be sure to post all the good details afterwards.

There are lots of girls at my work who are rushing and they are sooo excited. Gets me all excited all over again :D

Well, boo on my 5th daughter but her college does not have Pi Phi! I think my best shot for a Pi Phi won't come until my 11-year-old rushes bc the 6th daughter, who graduates next year, is also probably going to a school that doesn't have Pi Phi.

But...today I got 2 neat cards! One was from a local girl who's rushing at Auburn and she thanked me for writing her rec and said, "Maybe we'll be sisters in a month, Dr. Carnation!" :) (We've known her since she was a baby.) The other was a thank you note from my chapter for writing the rec!

Carnation I have got to know! How many kids do you have?! My goodness! I can hardly handel one and I wonder how these people w/ all these kids sleep at night! As mine is starting to sleep through the night but its not the 12 of straight sleep that i dream of! oh well

ps. sorry for the hijack!

carnation 08-03-2005 05:20 PM

I have 13: 9 girls and 4 boys!:)

OleMissGlitter 08-03-2005 05:58 PM

As of right now, there are only 461 registered for Recruitment at Ole Miss, the deadline is not until mid September though (not sure of the exact date). I'm sure there will be at least 900 with quota between 75-85. There are 9 NPC chapters are Ole Miss.

I love SEC recruitment! Always exciting, always fun times!

JohnsDGsweethrt 08-04-2005 03:00 AM

holy cow! and they are all attending college! wonderful. did you birth all these kids or adopt some?

carnation 08-04-2005 09:40 AM

We adopted 5 and I birthed 8. This year, the oldest 5 have been in college.

Woohoo! SEC rush starts in less than a week! I can't wait to start hearing from the local PNM at Auburn!

TSteven, that was awesome!

OleMissGlitter 08-04-2005 05:29 PM

TSteven that's awesome but AOII is not colonizing until Fall of 2006, right now they are doing their PR Blitz to get AOIIs name out :)

Everyone on this board better keep us updated about recruitment at SEC schools! :)

Sorry about that. Misread an old article about AOII colonizing. I have corrected the Arkansas list.

edited to correct school

UKDaisy 08-04-2005 10:42 PM

wow TSteven that was awesome!

gaangel5 08-04-2005 10:53 PM

Carnation, let us know how your daughter does at rush. What sororities does she have at the school she is going to?

FSUZeta, let us know as well. Glad to see another Zeta on the board.

carnation 08-04-2005 11:36 PM

I don't think anyone will know anything about quota until recruitment is nearly over. Quota is often based on the number of girls remaining after a certain point in recruitment.

I love the SEC!

I seem to remember a few years back the quota at Oklahoma was in the 90's........

Yes and it was like that at Ole Miss too a couple of years ago. We had 95!

Yes I believe it was in the 90s maybe three years ago? At Ole Miss for Recruitment 2003, Quota was like 90 and most of the houses took up to 95 new members. Talk about craziness! It seems hard to manage but it really isn't. It ends up being just more sisterhoods so everyone can mingle and meet each other.

Its odd to see UF recruitment going from Tuesdsay to Tuesday instead of the traditional Sunday to Sunday. I wonder why it was changed...
The first day of classes at UF is Wednesday, August 24th so perhaps it was moved so that there are no "open" days before classes start.

Kentucky (UK) use to have a similar schedule. UK's sorority rush stared a week before classes started (first day of class is a Wednesday) and ended with Bid Day on that Wednesday afternoon/early evening (i.e. the first day of classes). Now, UK has moved NPC recruitment up a few days even though classes still begin on a Wednesday. The reason is that the University has events (Wildcat Welcome) for incoming freshman (and returning students?) the weekend before classes start. So moving recruitment up allows the new members to attend these events with all the other freshmen.

UKDaisy 08-07-2005 06:29 PM

Just a UK update...

So apparently the recruitment numbers for sorority recruitment is a lil' low this year. Last year it was like 900, and some girls said this morning it was down by about 200. So that kinda sucks....

But yay for spirit week - which is all this week - . Its great to see everyone on campus again. :D

So if the numbers hold, quota will be around 58.

GeorgiaGirl 08-07-2005 10:07 PM

I'll be your UGA information source ;)

Last I heard we have 1200 pnm's registered. We have 17 chapters participating in recruitment so if they all make it through prefs that would make quota about 70. More than likely quota will be about 60-64.

I'll try to keep you posted on what's going on.

I didn't see DG listed on the UGA sorority list. Did they close?

AUDeltaGam 08-08-2005 10:35 AM

Good luck to Auburn sororities this week!!! :D I'll be there Thursday-Sunday helping my chapter :) War Eagle!!!

KSUViolet06 08-08-2005 11:17 AM

How many women are signed up at Ole Miss this year?

FSUZeta 08-08-2005 02:37 PM

bekibug and audeltagam, please keep us updated on auburn rush!!

AUDeltaGam 08-08-2005 03:14 PM

From what I've heard, there are about 1200 girls going through this year, which is up from about a 1000 last year!

I haven't heard yet but please keep in mind that NPC recruitment is not until October.

OleMissGlitter 08-08-2005 05:53 PM

Ole Miss:
As of 08/08/2005 at 4:54 PM there are 500 girls signed up. There will probably be as many as 900 for Ole Miss Sorority Recruitment.

GeorgiaGirl 08-08-2005 06:58 PM

Delta Gamma did NOT close at UGA. I don't know why they wouldn't have been on a list of UGA sororities. They're still going strong. :D

carnation 08-08-2005 08:59 PM

And you'll meet Tiger tomorrow! :)

FSUZeta 08-09-2005 07:31 AM

dear bekibug, congratulations on making it thru day one ice waters. always fun, but always brutal!! approx. how many pnm's did you all see per party?
