At long last: Atlanta

Hey folks. I will be visiting Atlanta for Labor Day weekend as part of my broke down Lazarus tour, which really only has three stops, LOL.

I will be getting in on Thursday, September 1 and as I look at the schedule of events planned, I will really only have time for a meet & greet on that night. :(

So if you are interested in hanging out on that night, please let me know. Also, would any of you happen to know a decent spot for a meet & greet on that evening? Preferably close to the Sheraton Midtown Atlanta Hotel at Colony Square. (But it doesn't have to be.)

Honeykiss1974 07-11-2005 12:23 PM

Good luck with your "broken down tour". LOL My sister is a writer (in Atlanta) as well, so I try to support all writers.

I'm sure you will be well received.

I work right around there so that's perfect. The places to meet around there are mostly either clubs, bars or fancy restaurants. There's a bar called 'Shout' in Colony Square. It gets a little crazy on the weekends but I'm not sure how it is on weeknights. I'll look into it.

*sniff*

when u coming to nyc?

Sister Havana 07-11-2005 04:02 PM

Or Chicago?

sigtau305 07-11-2005 09:43 PM

or Cleveland?

Senusret I 07-12-2005 03:18 PM

I'm doing the best I can. :(

But back to Atlanta....WOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!

Also, I am not averse to having a get-together at someone's house if they'd like to host it. Just keeping the options open.

Senusret I 07-20-2005 12:01 PM

Ugh!

They're not including me on the Literary Cafe for ATL Black Gay and Lesbian pride weekend!

The co-chair of the org that sponsors that whole event told me himself that he had already passed along my information to the person in charge of the Literary Cafe. She claims she never got the information and HER first time hearing about me was this weekend, AFTER she had already closed the event.

Although this sucks, I am handling it. Somebody's lying or being very unprofessional and I don't think it's fair to penalize me through exclusion -- for all I knew, it was taken care of over a month ago.

I'll keep the Atlanta folks updated.

BTW, the Sheraton didn't have any small rooms available for a reception, so unless we do something informal in the lounge of the hotel (which I am fine with) I am still looking at off-site venues for a meet & greet.

Sistermadly 07-20-2005 07:37 PM

That sucks. Go to the Flying Biscuit and drown your sorrows in a biscuit and positive lesbian-ic energy. :)

Don't forget to check out Buckhead's night life!

Senusret I 08-11-2005 09:36 AM

And by the way....I will be participating in the Literary Cafe after all. ;)

Persistence Pays.

tnxbutterfly 08-14-2005 02:35 AM

Best of luck with your event. When did you say you were headed towards Dallas/Ft Worth?;) ;) :p :D

Senusret I 08-21-2005 09:32 PM

Don’t forget that if you will be in Atlanta on Thursday, September 1 at around 7:00pm, I want to see you! Come on over to a very informal meet and greet at the Red Chair Restaurant in Midtown Atlanta. I hear the food and drinks are really good so come on out and support a local business and a new author (me!) at the same time.

If you miss me on Thursday, I will be selling copies of Lazarus at the Black Pride Marketplace at the Sheraton Colony Square Hotel, also in Midtown at 118 Fourteenth Street, Northeast, on the following dates and times:

Friday, September 2 from 4pm to 11pm
Saturday, September 3 from 10am to 10pm
Sunday, September 4 from 12 noon to 4pm

And finally, I will be participating in the Black Pride Literary Café from 5pm to 9pm on Sunday, September 4, also at the Sheraton Colony Square Hotel. It would be so great if I could have a big showing there from any and everyone who supports my work as an author.

This is my first time in Atlanta in over ten years – make sure you stop and see me at one of these events so my trip can be a memorable one!

Senusret I 07-05-2006 07:05 AM

Sorry Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, etc, but Atlanta's bringing me back! :D

I will be conducting a workshop called Black, Gay, and Greek: The Challenges of LGBT Members of Black Fraternities and Sororities on Saturday, September 2.

If you're interested in supporting the event, let me know!

that is very specific, i hope you have a good turn out for that.

Also, come to Richmond, home of Egar Allan Poe. You can see the house he went crazy in right before he moved to Baltimore. Actully, if Richmond was too depressing for Poe, it might not be so great for writers.

The workshop will be part of Atlanta Gay Black Pride. A similar workshop last year had about 20 attendees. I am aiming for 35 this year.

And I have family in Richmond. :)

Spend all of your time in Buckhead, period.

I'll be spending much of it in Midtown, but thanks for your suggestion.

Sister Havana 07-05-2006 09:24 PM

And then Chicago is the next stop on the tour, right? :D

Midtown isn't bad either...I actually stayed in that area a couple years back for a new years concert at Phillips Arena. Definitely hit up the Flying Biscuit for breakfast......really good.

Back to Atlanta AGAIN!

I will be in Atlanta on Friday, November 24 through Monday, November 27. If you'll be in town, let me know so we can meet up!

FYI, I will be in town for the Clik Magazine Honors: Elite 25 festivities.

Congrats on being a finalist!!!

I'll be in town because that's the same weekend of the Georgia vs Georgia Blech football game! I won't be in Athens, but I'll be watching the game somewhere. I'd love to be blessed by your presence! :D

shinerbock 10-31-2006 03:45 PM

Go Tech. This is the year.

Macallan, good call on Buckhead, well for folks like me and you. Midtown is alright, but its just not my scene, but I imagine for Senusret its a pretty happenin place.

Thanks! You think you could join me and some friends for lunch one of them days?

I would love to! :D Now, if the UGA/Blech game comes on in the afternoon, then Saturday is out of the question.

I'm not a Buckhead kind of girl because I swear that's where you go to see and be seen. That's not my scene - pun intended. I love Midtown, especially the area near 10th and Piedmont. There's just a certain vibe that I love in Midtown.

Shinerbock, the Techies are having a great season. I'm an abnormal Georgia fan because I'm proud of the Techies season, but they cannot be Georiga at home. Out of the question.

shinerbock 11-01-2006 02:59 PM

No offense, but UGA is one of the least initimidating places to play in the SEC. I'm pretty sure the last time Tech won it was in Athens (I was there I think). Also, Vanderbilt beat UGA at home.

I'm pretty sure if you come to Chicago, you'll have a pretty huge turnout considering the fact that we have Boystown (our Gay town) and we just did the gay olympics with a great turnout :)

thats cute.
