2007 DST Regional Conference Cycles

Sorors,

This time of year has sorors from all across the country going to their regionals. I created this thread to share your experiences at regionals here!

I will allow others to go first and will post my experience later!

ladygreek 07-08-2005 11:20 PM

But this is only the fourth regional (no s) coming up. So most of us haven't been yet. Since yours was the first, why don't you start off?

jitterbug13 07-09-2005 06:17 PM

Ok, I will go first! Thanks ladygreek!

My conference (South Atlantic) was in Va. Beach. This was my first regional and my mother's in a long time.

The sessions that I attened were pretty good. Some were very informative and I got to meet a lot of sorors from the Carolinas, VA and Bermuda.

Favorites:
Seeing six national presidents attending the event
The step show and seeing my ls and one of my friends from USC step
Running into Past President Boyd on the elevator
Sorors dancing to Stevie Wonder's "Happy Birthday" at the closing dinner, celebrating SA's 45th Anniversary
The Sisterhood session (more on that later)
And as always...shopping for Delta items!

Didn't like:
The hotel, which was the official one for the conference (reserved our rooms back in Feb. for non smoking and when we get there they said they had no more non smoking:mad: , the hall smelled like smoke!)
Waiting for our lunch at the Sisterhood luncheon (my table was one of the last one served, and the food was bad)
Waiting for dinner at the Hilton (45 minutues just for a Sprite)
Looking for dinner Thursday and Friday nights (because most resturants close at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.)

Hopefully, we will be able to attend our next regional (where it will be, who knows?)!

I'm not in the Southern region, but during our vacation in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami, we went by the Conference center just to mingle for a little bit at the vendors. That good old Delta spirit. :D

Thanks for the heads up soror. I was wondering who or what that was commenting about our conference.

Soror at least you got to go to the trade show. I was workin' and didn't get a chance to go in. I'll make up for it in Philly. Hope you enjoyed your stay in sunny South Florida.

Gina1201 07-13-2005 04:00 PM

Can one of myDevaSTating Sorors PM me regarding conferences? I have a quick question that's slightly off topic?
:)

It rained everyday we were there but beyond that the weather was beautiful (humid as all getout). My body is back home but my mind is still on South Beach.

My 1st Regional Conference!!!!

I will be attending my 1st Regional Conference in August (8/11 to 8/14)!!! I am so excited about this. I'll let everyone know how is was!!!

Mighty Midwest

Our conference was great. Our RD, Darlene Pollard was re-elected unanimously. There were many informative workshops. And we left Columbus, OH in good shape for the Iotas. :D

I am proud to say that the Minneapolis/St. Paul Alumnae Chapter won Midwest Region Alumnae Chapter of the Year!

jitterbug13 07-18-2005 01:49 AM

Congrads to ladygreek and 2tuff's chapters on winning chapter of the year!:)

Glad you had a good time at conference, ladygreek!

Proverbs31 07-18-2005 12:38 PM

Well, I must say that I had a wonderful time at my first Regional Conference. I was the delegate for my chapter so I was very busy but I truly enjoyed the experience. Also it was really nice to meet other Sorors especially the more seasoned Sorors that were also from Epsilon chapter.

Highlights:

*Meeting Soror Fudge and Soror Rice
*Attending Opening Ceremony (which had me in tears)
*Hearing Past National Presidents speak
*Workshops
*Hostess Reception
*Performing in the opening partwalk at the Step Show
*Shopping at the Vendors
*Club Delta

I can't wait to go to Philly next year!!

And Congrats to your chapter Ladygreek!

Thanks :D It's too bad we moved our Conclave to this week. I would have enjoyed hanging out with you and your sorors.

CONGRATULATIONS on winning Chapter of the Year. That is a great accomplishment and I am sure your chapter deserved it. If your chapter's collective dedication to the community, love for your sorority, and personality is anything like yours.....then the decision for COTY was a no-brainer.

ladygreek 07-18-2005 02:59 PM

Proverbs, did I meet you?

Suntzu, I thought about you and how close we came to meeting.

I don't think I met you Soror, It didn't even click in my head until now that you are a part of that chapter. I was there when they announced that your chapter won and when you all started cheering.

Would you believe, I had stepped outside in the hallway to warm up and I missed the announcement. My daughter came out and said I think your chapter just won something. What makes it so bad is that I wrote the submission materials.

Maybe you saw me at the Opening or Closing on the dais? I was the past regional director with locs.

My girl Gina (on GC as Taylaur2000) and her mom were there, since they are from the Midwest. Did you see my other homie, the president of the Joilette Chapter...also I know my chapter president was there. I'm telling you when the convention is here next year...for real if I don't get a chance to meet you...well let's just leave it at at that...he he he

Kudos to my chapter sorors...and all the dynamic sorors of the "MIGHTEE" MIDWEST REGION:D

Yes, I, too enjoyed regional conference. Had the awesome opportunity to be an assisting Soror to PNP Mona Humphries Bailey. She is the epitome of class and grace. (I also went shoe shopping w/ her..but that's another story)
Check your PM. ;) :D
