rush help

hi! i was wondering if anybody could help me. i'm rushing in the fall and i need people to put in a good word for me for some sororities. here are the ones i would join: alpha chi omega, kappa alpha theta, pi beta phi, delta zeta, and chi omega.

Tom Earp 06-25-2005 05:21 PM

Suggest you move and ask your question to rush thread.:)

So, good luck!

carnation 06-25-2005 06:06 PM

Pantsy, I don't know if strangers would be willing to "put in a good word" for someone they don't know. Also, I suggest that you not limit your choices to a few before recruitment even starts. We've all seen PNMs who announce which sororities they would accept before rush--and then get cut by all those after first or second parties.

Your best bet is to get sorority alums in your area to write recs for you.

pantsy5 06-25-2005 06:07 PM

ok, i don't know how to move it.

my grandma already got me into her sorority, but its not one that i like. so i'm looking for girls in the sororities i listed who can make a couple of calls and get me in the ones that are better.

Haha -- no kidding. Sometimes I wonder if half the posts on GC are real.

My money's on Bobby, but he hasn't been on GC lately.

I understand completely. If you would be kind enough to send me your name and school, I will alert my National Vice President of Membership that you are going through rush.

Also, maybe you could contact Condoleezza Rice, Laura Bush and Jennifer Garner for AXO, Theta and PiPhi, respectively. I bet they'd love to put in a good word for you.

ADqtPiMel 06-25-2005 06:39 PM

Don't worry, if it doesn't work out I'm sure you're a perfect candidate for AI!

aopirose 06-25-2005 06:56 PM

You should get together with ShamikaT. She appears to be in the same boat as you being unhappy that is. Just do a search on her username and you can read her story.

I forgot to add that maybe you could contact Sela Ward about Chi Omega.

I am certain they would. After all,she already got into her grandma's sorority without even going through rush. Girls that fabulous should always be looking for a higher standard.

Unless, of course, it's SKEPi. But, who wouldn't want to join that sorority?

whittleschmeg 06-25-2005 07:04 PM

You need recomendations thats fine....you want to ask people you don't know okay thats your perogative....but you should do it in a respectful matter. Put your best foot forward.....

Also its okay to know what you want go to the directories of those sororities and post a thread saying that you are interested in joining their sisterhood. Show some respect before you become a member of one greek organization show some respect for the system.

canadajen 06-26-2005 02:52 AM

Wow.

Just wanted to say thank you for the best laugh I've had all day!! :D Seriously, some of these posts just get better and better.

Tom Earp 06-26-2005 03:09 PM

Oh, I thought she was serious?:D

Hmmm, maybe she was but did a bad job of trying to prove it.

pantsy5, if you are really interested in Rushing, you do not come on like you are the one selecting.

If and only if, You will be selected as someone who is beneficial and will work for any Organization.

Not to be mean, but maybe you wont be the type of person a certain GLO wants. Not the other way around.

33girl 06-26-2005 05:28 PM

what what?

Here are some good words.

Kumquat!

Gnu!

Consomme!

Walla Walla!

These should pave your way clear to any sorority you desire...best of luck!

CarolinaCutie 06-26-2005 09:51 PM

I'm guessing Texas A&M...

ISUKappa 06-26-2005 09:56 PM

I heard Ashley Judd just looooves to put calls in for Kappa.

but it's not one of the orgs listed, so, I guess you're out of luck.

Man guys, I'm really hurt that Delta Gamma isn't listed...

I'm just sure we are missing out on a FANTASTIC member here...gosh...just ruined my day...

:( :( :(

Jill1228 06-26-2005 10:58 PM

They might be intimidated by the "hotness".

Does anyone else on here have the "Tippiechick disease"? i.e. My Give a Damn 's Busted!

Walla Walla's are in season right now SmartBlonde! :D

Saved me some time too. :D I would have HAPPILY forwarded her information to all of the international officers I know, or more importantly, to the collegiate chapter.

Sister Havana 06-26-2005 11:09 PM

When you go through rush, be sure to count the fireplaces in the house. Any less than two and it's a loser sorority for sure.

By the way, do you have SHIM on your campus? You can't forget them. Of course they're very selective...

Sorry hun. I'm sure that it would have made Julia Sweeney's day putting in a word for her. Any sorority would be lucky to get her. I'm just upset that she couldn't be a part of mine. I guess we're not special enough.

What the heck? If a person is already in a sorority..... you CAN'T "upgrade"!
I'm sure her grandma would be very upset that she quit her legacy sorority.

(I really hope the original post was NOT serious! If it was.... Didn't she read other threads on GC? Doesn't she have some common sense?)

canadajen 06-27-2005 12:48 AM

You folks are great!! ... alas I teared up that AGD wasn't quite up to snuff apparently ~ a shame really, given the phenomenal references we all would have been bending over backwards to send on her behalf via email, snail mail and even in person ... no effort would have been spared to ensure we didn't lose a must-have super uber sister!

:( Truly our loss.

THIS MADE ME ROTFL HEHEHEHEHEHEHE .

I just hope all of sororities listed are even GOOD enough once, you know, she actually meets them. What if their bedrooms are too small, or they don't have a really BIG TV in the common room, or something horrible like that !
Or, maybe their hiding == gasp== a FAT girl who they only let out when they have to at recruitment.

I think you're missing the bigger picture here. What if she joins one of the good houses and then has to transfer, and at her new school her sorority is actually the fat girl/loser sorority. Can you imagine the stigma that she'd have to live with of being in an undesirable house. It would be even greater if on that campus, her grandma's sorority was the good one.

OH MY, I totally forgot about that... well that's it, she'll just have to do research and out of the "acceptable "chapters at her school She can figure out their percentage of acceptable chapters vs. loser chpaters at other schools, and choose the best one that way, since of course this will make it the superior, over all sorority.

I recommend using Excel to undertake such a project.

ETA:
I feel kinda bad that we're making pantsy5 take up such a big project. Do any AChiO's, Thetas, Pi Phis, DZ's, or Chi O's on here wanna save her the trouble of doing research and say that their chapters aren't the good ones on campus?

I'm thinking that either you or I is a member of her grandmother's loser sorority! *sigh*

Wait until they circle her fat! She doesn't realize that having a grandmother in the sorority automatically means she doesn't have to go through that! ;)

I'm willing to help out but only because I'm already intimidated by her hottness. I would imagine that the Theta chapter on her campus would be too! :D

I believe the politically correct term or rather code words are now "exceptionally healthy".
