AI "Class of 2005" Where are you now?
For all you fellow new AI initiates, I'd love to hear an update! What's life been like after initiation? What have you been doing with your chapter? And... which badge did you order?
I've been very active... gone to our book club meetings, scrap booking, etc. And, I've just been put on the slate for VP Events and Programming! (This is something I am REALLY looking forward to as I can help plan what we'll be doing beginning next September!) I still haven't received my badge due to a minor snafu... but hoping to get it straightened out in the next few weeks. |
Blueangel,
Congrats on being put on the slate! That's wonderful news! Hven't been initiated yet, but know it will be in the fall. I am having a great time, though, getting to know some KD sisters here from GC, with the possibility of meeting one while we are in LA next week. How are the rest of you ladies? |

Good News is Good News!:) Dig in and Enjoy the New Found GLO!:D |
Well, I am helping plan out Founders Day event. Have attended most of the events since Initiation.
I got my badge last week. I mam not a flashy type of gal so I got the nice plain one :-) http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-581.jpg - edited to say I would post a pic instead of a link if I could figure out how :-) |
I met Kunja Princess 2 weeks ago at the Seattle Race for the Cure. She is a sweetie!

Yah, that might not be such a bad idea........... |
Jill is pretty cool too, don't let her fool ya. It was so awesome to put a name to her face since I read her thread when she was doing the AI thing...
|
Jill is a wild and crazy Child! :) She is AONE Period in my Book of Peeps!
Never go with her near a rollar coaster, she is a nut on them!:D Glad to Hear that you are enjoying your new found Greek Life!:) |
I waited two decades for this, so I went for the major bling! I don't know how to post pictures either, but I ordered the all-diamond badge (the third one down). I also ordered a chapter guard so I don't lose it!
http://www.burrpatt.com/ZetaTauAlpha/official.asp Due to a paperwork snafu, I still haven't received it yet. |

an update
I was initiated just last month (May 8th) so I haven't been too involved yet, which was to be expected, since school is out for the summer and I have A LOT going on personally right now. However, I will be helping out with rush/recruitment this fall, and have been asked to look at my chapter's current website and make suggestions/updates.
I also received a nice note from the local Tri Delta alumnae chapter congratulating me on my initiation and inviting me to some of their events. I was impressed! The Tri Deltas are so organized!! :) I did receive my badge the other week - it's breathtakingly gorgeous!! Even though I've had my sponsor's badge since the night I was initiated, I was still in awe of it when I received it. Tri Delta has just one standard badge, which is nice because I like simple things and don't have to worry about upgrading to a fancier badge with more "bling" so I don't look like the poor (Tri Delta) sister!! |

Holy moly!!! That's gorgeous! You know, maybe if I have a daughter one day, and she goes Gamma Phi Beta, I'll give her my badge to wear. It would be so neat to pass my beloved badge to my daughter. Of course, I would need a new one, right? I could then replace it with the all diamond badge. That way, when someone says, "Ooohhh....you have an all diamond badge!" I can tell them, "Yes, it's my celebration badge. I'm celebrating because my daughter is a Gamma Phi Beta too!" .....Kelly :) |
Thanks for posting it, DGMarie. How did you do that? BTW-- I was lurking on the DG forum, and saw some GORGEOUS DG badges. I have a thing for anchors... and have a lot of anchor jewelry.
Which badge do you have, Navene? I was SO going back and forth on the badge. Being a libra doesn't help me make decisions like this either! I remember that in college, a representative came out to the Zeta house to show the girls all the different badges.. but when you're AI, you just have to go from a photo. It's kind of hard to make that big of a decision without seeing the actual badge. I love saphires... and I was originally going to buy the alternating diamond and saphire badge. But, then when I was ordering my badge, I found that we changed jewelry companies. Burr, Paterson, and Auld sent me a picture of the all-diamond badge, and I said, "Oh.. I LOVE this... should I? Should I? Oh... I dunno.... hmmmm.... well.. yeah... why not!" :D I can't wait till it arrives. I'm told I should have it in another couple of weeks. |

The Tridelta badge is absolutely awesome! I can just imagine your face when you opened up the package in the mail to see the beautiful badge of Delta Delta Delta! You have one of the most unique and gorgeous pins I've ever seen. Don't worry, you'll be busy enough beginning in September. You're very smart, and I know the Alumnae chapter is going to make good use of your many talents! I'm fortunate in that the Zeta chapter began letting me participate as if I was a sister then, way back in November. That's why I got so involved so quickly. I really enjoy their events and spending time with the chapter. The only problem is that I live pretty far away, so I'm always driving between an hour and two hours for each meeting and event. But, it's worth the drive :) |

OMG I am blind! Too much BLING! NOT! :D that badge is hella nice! |

I have the crown pearl Phi with garnet points. She's already been used once to pin one of the new members at my chapter! :D Here she is! http://members.ispwest.com/navane/GPhiBbadge.jpg .....Kelly :) |
PS - This is the all-diamond Phi badge:
http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-584.jpg And I think this would be uber-bling in white gold with ALL diamonds! http://www.mastersofdesign.com/image...t/img1-589.jpg .....Kelly :) |
Thanks for posting the directions. I have a Macintosh (no right clicks!) but, I'm sure there's a way. I'll experiment with what you told me to do later and see if it works on my computer.
|
:D
That's right, Jill... a girl can never have too much bling! |
Kelly,
I LOVE your badge! I love the red garnets. As much as I like diamonds, I like yours better, because the letters get lost on the all-diamond badge. And, besides.. red is a lucky color! |
Beautiful badge, Kelly! How pretty!
I've been drooling over the KD badges, and can't wait until I get to order mine. |

Def. don't get the standard one, they redesigned them when we switched jewelers and put that weird border which I think is hella ugly. Thankfully I got my standard pin before that mess started. But I'm not even totally sure of where my standard pin is now... it's around somewhere. You may want to find a nice one on ebay, or you may want your own, which is understandable. I bought a blinging one set in a pendant on ebay right after I graduated. My only complaint is that it's gold and I never wear gold anymore. Maybe i'll have to get another one! Lol, i'll be starting my own badge collection. |
maybe someday I'll have a blinging badge too.....

Here is what you do with a Mac with a one button mouse (or a mouse with two buttons where only the left one works): 1. go to the site which has the photo 2. click on the photo and hold - a menu will pop up 3. select "Copy Image Location" (it will copy the picture's URL) 4. come to gc and open a new message 5. click the IMG button (above the message area) 6. paste the URL you copied 7. post the message I hope this helps! .....Kelly :) |
"Kelly, I LOVE your badge!"
"Beautiful badge, Kelly! How pretty!" "That is truly one of the prettiest badges I have ever seen!" Awww....you all are so sweet! Believe me, the first badge you ever have will always be the most beautiful in your own eyes. It's always nice to hear that others appreciate it too. I'm not a badge collector, but I think that badges are like little works of art. Trojangal, I'll have to try and remember to bring it for you to see next week! I remember when I was at one of the GreekChat gatherings in London, UKAXO brought in Tri Sigma and AXO badges for us to see. They were pretty! .....Kelly :) |
This is a pretty one! Was this the one on your stuffed animal, Janet? :D

My computer is a Macintosh laptop. The "mouse" is built in, and just a touch pad. I'll fiddle with it. I'm sure there's a way to do it. :)

My computer is a Macintosh laptop too ....an ibook! The instructions are still the same. Did you actually try to hold the mouse button down before you posted that? :) Just now I unplugged my mouse and did the same exact thing with the touchpad/built-in button. Give it a try! If it still doesn't work, let me know what model of laptop you have and I'll find more specific instructions for you. .....Kelly :) |

Yes, it sure is! In case no one realizes, this is a photo of my actual badge; that's why it's so blurry. One can see a nice professional photo of the same style on the Masters of Design website. .....Kelly :) |
The badge that TCV chose when she was initiated into AOPi still stands out for me. What a beauty!! But I think all the badges are beautiful (especially Tri Delta's). :p
|
I still haven't gotten my badge yet. I ordered it nearly six months ago.
I called yesterday, and now I find out that the factory is shut down for inventory and that they won't reopen until the third week of July. When it finally arrives, my badge is going to arrive with cobwebs on it. :) |

Pi Phi Delta love, lake ;) |
Yeah! PURPLE feather dusters!
Pi Phi Delta Love, Blue Angel P.S. *UPDATE!* The company called me this morning and said that they had arranged for one of their inventory crew to send my badge out to me and that I should be getting it tomorrow (Wednesday.) After everything else that has happened, I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be an ATO or Sigma Chi badge! |
What great news! When you get, make certain to post a picture!

I didn't realize that they ingrave your name on it! Do you have to request this? Wow.. I would have liked that. I wonder if mine will be on it???
|
Got my badge!!!!
I'm going to try to post a picture of it. It was really hard to photograph, and the pictures don't do it justice. I hope this works. <holding breath> Here goes!
