GC High School Royalty? Anyone?
Just out of curiosity, were any of you on prom/homecoming/winter ball etc. court? Did any of you end up being crowned?
I was prom queen my senior year so it just made me curious if anyone else has done something similar. |

LOL, Sacred Hearts Academy WinterBall Queen 1996 :D |
Aw, OTW, you were so cute! (Not that you aren't now...)
I was on prom court senior year but I wasn't queen. |
Sweetheart swirl candidate, 1997 (what my hs does instead of prom queen).
ETA: I was County Fair Queen the summer after I graduated. That was fun. (don't laugh, it's kind of a big deal in Iowa) |
Little Sandy! I love it.
I was on Valentine's Day dance court . . . my boyfriend at the time was on prom court -- but neither of us were elected anything. At my school, the same girl was Prom Queen/Homecoming Queen, and she was pretty and a sweetheart, but kind of ditzy. |
We didnt have male royalty then (they do now) and I weighed about 235 lbs then (unlike my current svelt 162) so I wouldnt have gotten elected to anything anyway cause I was a big ole fat dork then.
No I am just a dork without the big ole fat part. |
I was on prom court, and I still haven't quite figured that one out!
|
Not me.
However. my neighbors across the street were twins (well, still are!) and one was homecoming king and the other was prom king. |

Sandy, you are so freakin' adorable! All the better to hide that wild streak, right? ;) I wasn't anything but a jockette in high school, but I did get elected to HC Court in college (which really isn't as big a deal as it sounds) |
Mrs. DA was Prom Queen and city-wide Student Council Queen. Son was Homecoming King and "Mr. (name of HS withheld to protect the innocent)" twice.
The later was a fund raiser for student government (he was Student Body VP), in which the guys dressed up in tuxedos and did talent stuff. |
My highschool never had Prom King and Queen. In fact, I don't know of any Canadian highschools that have this tradition (although there may one or two).
|
Sort of -- I was one of the two announcers. So I got to get all dolled up and ride around the track in the convertibles just like the rest of the court. :)
In my HS, they had a rule that if you were Homecoming Queen, you weren't eligible for Prom Queen, b/c they got sick of the same girl winning both. I think that was something they started about a year or two before my freshman year. |
I was "Mr. Sophomore" when I was in high school, but I retired from pageants. It just wasn't very fun. To be on the court, you had to raise more money than your competitors. That sucked. If you wanted to be King or Queen, then you had to do a talent, answer questions, and be judged by alumni.
I actually was a judge once or twice after graduation. It was fun, but SO corny. |

But that Guess? dress I'm wearing? Still fits me PERFECTLY and I even managed to recycle it to a few winter semi-formals in college. :p |
All bow down before Queen Sandy! :) Do you still have your crown?
We didn't do fun things like this at my school. I was lucky we even had a prom. |
Sophmore and junior yr class homecoming princess

It's funny because that year, the Student Council Advisor in charge of the WinterBall also served on an advisory board for a prelim pageant for the MAO. He ordered the exact same crown for the WinterBall queen that Miss Honolulu wore that year. I lucked out and won. After my senior year, the crowns weren't that nice. :) :D :D ;) :p |

That's interesting...that's the exact same crown that the Miss Texas USA local/city winners wear. Check it out: http://members.ispwest.com/navane/texasusacrown.jpeg Also, here is the crown I had custom designed for my program! http://members.ispwest.com/navane/MVAnationalcrown.jpg At any rate, to get back on topic, I wasn't on any of my high school or college courts. :( .....Kelly :) |
Oh, Sandy, that is definitely YOUR look!! You are really stylin' in that picture!

At my school, we gave tiaras out like gumballs, it would seem - Homecoming, Varieties and Prom - no repeats allowed. I was Miss Varieties (we held a charity varity show each year), and I plan to wear my tiara to a Mad Hatter party this summer! |

You're so sweet, Honey! :) Remember, though, this is Pitt we're talking about - if your sorority and a fraternity or two backs you, that's pretty much all it takes. Or that's how it went way back when! :D |
hahaha, hell no...I ruffled too many feathers and wore too little makeup for that at my school.
|
I was on King's Court, a women got on the court based on her participation in school activities. It was homecomming for basketball. It was kinda of cheating cause i was president of the organization that ran that court and the entire homecomming week for three years (including the year i was on the court). I did not win. At my high school a person could only be on 1 court, so the really popular girls where on junior prom court the next level down popular girls where on football homecomming. So, it wasn't as cheeting as it may seem since the prime candidates where already eliminated.
Also, i did a local Miss Washington (MAO) one year. did not win, but had lots of fun. |
We didn't have that kind of thing at my (Canadian) school. However, in the spirit of Hogwarts, I went to a Private School (yes, with kilt and blazer) and I was a Prefect. Does that count? :p ;)
