How did you find GC?

I googled in Pi Kappa ALpha message board one day and it brought me the Pike Board. The Pike board was so dead. I was reading messages from like 2000 or so. I registered, and for about a year and a half and I did not know there were other forums to greek chat. I only thought each GLO had their own forum and thats it. So I never logged in again. Until one day I was searching through my favorites and I remember bookmarking this, and I clicked on some sorority girls profile because she had posted in the Pike forum, and it showed her last message in "Dating and Relationship". so i clicked it, and whhhhalah! here I am today!

Thanks GC for saving me from boredom....
and uh thanks GC for distracting me from what I really was suppose to do. bunch of punks

I was searching for AXiD jewlery (lavalieres, dangles for my badge, etc.), and some thread came up. I read for hours. :) Then I went home and registered. I've been hooked ever since.

Sister Havana 06-02-2005 03:46 PM

I was googling for something APO related and found that forum. I looked at some other orgs' forums too. I was a longtime lurker before I created an account, though.

RedRoseSAI 06-02-2005 03:58 PM

I've "discovered" GC twice, and I don't remember how it happened either time.

About a month ago I found that I registered with GC back in 1999 under a different screen name. It's one of the oldest screen names on GC, but apparently I never posted (probably due to lack of activity on the board). I don't remember how it happened then, and I don't remember how I re-found GC in 2002, but I'm glad I did! :)

Susan_Renee 06-02-2005 05:04 PM

I was looking for Phi Mu message boards when I came across GC. :)

Xylochick216 06-02-2005 05:10 PM

I looked up sororities when I went through recruitment in 2001. I lurked for awhile before I registered, and it took awhile for it to become a regular "boredon-buster."

Dionysus 06-02-2005 05:11 PM

I wanted to know if I could join one NPC sorority after going through initiation in another. I typed in greek chat/forum/message board and voila GC showed up!

I did find GC before that, but I don't remember what I was looking for - that was when the Hatchett drama was going on.

JupiterTC 06-02-2005 05:40 PM

When I found out that Tri Delta was coming to Elon last summer, I did a Google search for Tri Delta and I came across GC. Granted I've only posted 315 or so posts in the past year, but I've learned a great deal about other organizations and Greek Life in general.

A little bit of topic, but was anyone on the CollegeHumor forums before they shut down?

preciousjeni 06-02-2005 06:33 PM

I really can't remember. LOL! I know I was on my way to becoming a Theta Woman. Maybe I was looking up something TNX-related?

DolphinChicaDDD 06-02-2005 07:04 PM

I was looking for recruitment slogans for panhel

tinydancer 06-02-2005 08:31 PM

I was looking for information for my friend's daughter, as she was interested in rushing.

Peaches-n-Cream 06-02-2005 08:56 PM

I searched sorority and found GC. I lurked for quite a while and joined a year or so later.

Glitter650 06-02-2005 09:24 PM

I think I was googling the different sororities at my campus during rush and came across it that way if I remember correctly.

AznSAE 06-02-2005 09:46 PM

i believe it googled it also. way back in the dinosaur era.

FSUZeta 06-02-2005 09:58 PM

zta was redoing our national website and the sisters only chatroom was shut down. i was lamenting the fact to penguintrax and she turned me onto greekchat. it was luv at first click! i have met so many fine members of greek organizations .because of greekchat i am more panhellenically minded than i ever was before. thanks greekchat!!

goldendelta 06-02-2005 10:08 PM

The sororitygirl community on LJ. I found it before then but didn't register.

RedRoseSAI 06-02-2005 10:31 PM

Ah ha! Rain Man's post on the middle of this page has jogged my memory. I used to post to greeksource.com, and I believe I went looking for it one day and it pointed me to GC.

Now, is there anyone on here besides PenguinTrax who remembers Duncan's Greek Pages?

Oh, I remember Duncan's. That place was always always ALWAYS a mess.

I can't remember how I found GC...that was 4 1/2 years ago when the site was puke green. I do remember that I had been an Alpha Gam for only a few months, though.

Not even one month after I registered I was "touched by the fire". Old school GCers know what the hell I'm talking about.

KABillyMac 06-02-2005 10:53 PM

Oh the hunt for the crafty verzys brought me here to be with yall. Geez. Guess I need to thank em. Nah, hell, I'm the one who clicked on the link so I'll just thank myself. No need in wasting a perfectly good thank you.

KABillyMac 06-02-2005 10:58 PM

Yes yes but we all grow up and make peace, and see how beutifully it worked out? :)

ISUKappa 06-02-2005 11:06 PM

Someone had linked from another message board I frequent. I lurked a bit at first, completely forgot about it for a while and then got sucked into a heated thread in late '03 where I'm sure I managed to make half of GC think I was a complete moron.

Ahhh memories.

DeltAlum 06-03-2005 12:18 AM

I don't remember.

lifesaver 06-03-2005 02:38 AM

Was on greeksource in 97 and got tired of the 'wild west' atmosphere. (Think the February Kazaa invasion - same kinda thing) Stayed away for three years and kept getting emails from GC. Finally came to see what the buzz was about and lurked for a month or two and then registered in May '00.

Woah, I didn't know GC/GS was that old. I thought this site was formed in 1999.

sigmadiva 06-03-2005 10:57 AM

I found it though greekpages.com. I think there was a link to GC on greekpages.

Rudey 06-03-2005 11:12 AM

I was a boy named Athenos and I was looking for Greek women to love. I thought Greekchat.com would have Greek women for me to love like back in the days when I lived in the Parthenon.

Ugh, Greeksource was terrible. It was definitely a flame-zone. The format was bad, too, from what I remember (big long threads ALL listed on the same page).

starryeyed 06-03-2005 12:14 PM

I was looking up how to AI on google, but I didn't know the right terminology. I got directed here, and I've been immersed in posts ever since!
