Ours is at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. I was fortunate enough to visit this year and it was amazing seeing all the places our Founders talked about and seeing the Alpha house :)

emleepc 06-03-2005 03:23 PM

Alpha chapter was a Wesleyan Femal College.....which no longer recognizes sororities...... sad.

The Alpha Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was originally at Jefferson College in 1848 and the Beta was at Washington College both in Pennsylvania. When the two schools merged to create Washington and Jefferson College the Alpha Chapter was moved there.

Alpha Charge of Theta Delta Chi is active at Union College, Schenectady, NY. We were founded at Union College along with five other fraternities (thus the Union College has its "Mother of Fraternities" nickname):

Kappa Alpha (1825)
Sigma Phi (1827)
Delta Phi (1827)
Psi Upsilon (1833)
Chi Psi (1841)
Theta Delta Chi (1847)

Special shoutout to the other Farmville Four whose Alpha chapters are at Longwood: Kappa Delta, Zeta Tau Alpha, and Alpha Sigma Alpha.:)

DSTCHAOS 06-03-2005 08:24 PM

It has to suck when organizations' Alpha chapters are shut down.

SurfinDBeach 06-03-2005 08:46 PM

Alpha...

Alpha chapter of TKE... Site of the founding of the Knights of Classic Lore society...

That's what I thought my soror meant. But seeing how many are no longer active, there wouldn't be much to this thread.

knight_shadow 06-04-2005 01:04 AM

Omega Delta Phi's Alpha chapter (and Kappa Delta Chi's, for that matter) is at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas

Phi Delta Theta's Alpha chapter was at Indiana University until this past year. Their nationals pulled their charter for hazing incidents apparently

Phi Sig's Alpha chapter is at UMASS

ZZ-kai- 06-04-2005 08:44 AM

Well, you're kinda right. Their Indiana Alpha chapter, at IU, has been closed. However, their first chapter, Ohio Alpha I guess, would be at Miami U.

The Alpha Zeta of Lambda Chi Alpha was founded at Boston University. We use the term "Zeta," with a secret meaning, for the common term "Chapter." This sometimes does cause confusion that leads some people to use a designation like Alpha Zeta Chapter!

Interfraternally,

Mike Raymond,
Zeta-Upsilon Zeta

Sister Havana 06-04-2005 10:55 AM

Kappa Alpha Psi's Alpha chapter is at Indiana University, and is still there. They are the only NPHC GLO to have a house at IU, although they're not currently using it.

Alpha Phi Omega's Alpha chapter was at Lafayette College and is now closed.

sigtau305 06-04-2005 11:46 AM

The Alpha Chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity is at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mizzou

Private I 06-04-2005 01:43 PM

The Alpha Chapter of Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc. is at UNC Chapel Hill.

upstreamswimmer 06-04-2005 02:01 PM

The alpha chapter of Theta Chi is sadly closed but was at Norwich Unviersity in Norwich, Vermont.... but then the whole college was moved to a new town, alpha chapter in tow to Northfield, Vermont.

CutiePie2000 06-04-2005 05:43 PM

Delta Gamma's first ever chapter was called "Psi", not Alpha. I don't think we ever had one with the designation "Alpha". Psi chapter was located at the Lewis School for Girls in Mississippi, which is no more.

To pay homage to our original "Psi" chapter, when DG came and set up a chapter at Ole Miss, they called it "Alpha Psi" chapter.

summer_gphib 06-04-2005 06:13 PM

Gamma Phi Beta's Alpha chapter (1874) is in Syracuse, NY, and we are part of the Syracuse triad. :-)

My chapter was installed on founder's day exactly 120 years later.

Peaches-n-Cream 06-04-2005 07:10 PM

Delta Phi Epsilon's Alpha Chapter is NYU which is currently active after being closed.

Super! Delta Zeta's Alpha Chapter (Miami University, as has been mentioned before) has never been inactive, either. :)

The Alpha Chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho is at the University of Illinois and still going strong for 100 years. www.aggers.com

exactly what I meant. It's interesting how this was interpreted.
Sorry about that folks. but I wanted to know who was from (initiated into) an Alpha chapter, or any other single-letter chapter.

But this information was good to know.:D
