PostSecret
PostSecret
So, people send in postcards with their secrets and then some of them are put online. Some are funny, others are sad, and some are just down right disturbing. I made the one that says "I don't care about recycling. But I pretend I do" as my wallpaper. For comic effect. |
I found this site right when it began and I always keep up with the things on it. I've had 2 things up there myself. I <3 it. :)

Great site....It makes me feel normal compared to these people....but then again....what IS normal anyway?
|
My sister and I explored each other sexually as children. As the older girl I feel guilty that I may have molested her.
Very disturbing. |
I love this site, I have it on a LJ feed on my friends list!
|
BUMP...
this is updated everyweek, and worth a gander each time. They are publishing a book of these, and you could also find them in the new All-American Rejects video this site is awesome |
I tried to buy it in Tallahassee today but Borders was sold out...

I found this on Snopes, as an example of why we need "gallows humor" and it's considered possible: "The first divorce directly related to the September 11th terrorist attacks has been filed in a NY court. It appears a guy with an office on the 103rd floor of the World Trade Center left home for work on Sept 11. When he got to Manhattan, he decided to spend the morning at his girlfriend's apartment in the Village. When he got to her place, he turned off the phones, TV and radio and spent the entire morning in bed with her. At about 11:00 am, while still at her place, he turned his cell phone back on to retrieve his messages. A second later it rang. His wife was on the phone crying and screaming at him, "I've been trying to call you for over two hours!! I've been worried sick about you! Are you OK?!?" He answered calmly that he was fine. The wife then asked, "Where are you?" The guy said, "Where do you think I am? I'm in my office!" |
Oh my, how funny! I love it!

This one was one of my all-time favorites:
http://www.admit-one.net/webimages/postsecret3.jpg I'll probably pick up the books one of these days. |
My favorite: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y19...ridesmades.jpg
Cause sadly, a friend and I have chatted about this. I own the first book, and I'm looking into buying the second soon. |

There is a post card up right now that reads "As I stood in line in the bookstore my freshman year, a sorority recruiter passed me over in favor of the two prettier girls in line directly behind me. Now, 5 years later, I'm starting graduate school with a teaching fellowship. I won't be able to help thinking about those recruiters when I grade the sorority girls' papers." The card is bordered with a list of GLO's including sororities and fraternities, both NPC, IFC, and NPHC. Also, the back of the image shows up when you hover your mouse over it and the postmark appears to indicate that it was mailed from 30904, which, interestingly enough, is an Augusta, GA zip (crazy!). I just found it interesting and thought I'd share.

Here at Tech one of my professors made us do this as a project for her class. It was interesting.
|
We actually did a "post secret" bonding thing with my sorority. Someone passed out index cards and we all wrote a secret on them, then went up and put them in a box. They were shuffled and redistributed so that everyone read someone elses' card...that way no one knew whose was whose. It was a really cool exercise that helped us all realize not everyone is perfect. After all, we all have secrets!
Postsecret is totally my Sunday addiction. I get so sad when I've read all the ones for the week...I always crave more! |
I love Post Secret, and like the poster before me, I check every Sunday. I've actually found many secrets on bits of paper in a bunch of the books at various Barnes & Noble. I read about people doing this, and one day figured I'd see if I would find any, and I did! The most touching one I found was, " Even if you die tomorrow I won't go to your funeral."

Finally a positive Greek secret!!! Just posted about half an hour ago.
"I knew things were changing when my Fraternity Brothers threw a guy out of the house for making fun of me for being gay." |
I saw that! :) Loved it. <3
|
I saw that too, which is so weird because I rarely look at that site, I just came across it by chance today. I thought of this thread :)
|
Another sorority secret:
"I'm having sex with my sorority sister" http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_a7jkcMVp5V...ororitysis.jpg |

I just stumbled on this on Google: "My 'Brother' did gay porn to save our Fraternity." and then it had the name of the fraternity at the bottom and their coat of arms. |
I absolutely love post secret! I found it after some of the secrets were featured in the "Dirty Little Secret" music video. I've checked the site every Sunday since! :]
Every time I see a Post Secret book in the store, I always flip through to see if anyone added their own post card.. no luck yet. :[ |
One of the secrets posted on the website right now is on a postcard I made. The secret isn't mine, just the card.... I can't help but wonder if the secret belongs to and old roommate and I also wonder who it's about.....

the hardest ones to read were the ones (yes, multiple) about being raped. one new member even felt her bond grow after this activity since she could relate to another secret and then felt if that sister could feel comfortable at the house then so could she. i highly recommended doing this for a fun chapter! and then, of course, we mailed them all to postsecret! |
It's been over a year since this card was on the side, but it's been my motto ever since.
http://blog.blankbaby.com/.a/6a00d83...0172afa970b-pi "life is good. everyone just overreacts. even me." |
There is currently a secret posted that has a picture of Frank Warren at a PostSecret event on one side, and on the other it reads:
"I came here tonight with two of my sisters, one blood and one sorority. Both have saved my life once. Neither knows it. |

ETA: Wow. The postcard about the man who decided not to walk into traffic and the responses to it was really touching. Sad, yes, but really touching. |
