Cashmoney: I'm chillin baby, and you?

Publix girl: I'm ready to go home.

Cashmoney: Your name's Kadie? Thats kind of a hot way to spell it.

Publix girl: Yea, it's like the sorority KD but with 3 vowels.

BobbyTheDon 05-24-2005 10:01 PM

hey, I was at Publix recently and a really hot KD was there too.

Aye yo ULOCHIOQTO, remember to spell it with an X or else you may get shot in the Tampa Bay area ghettos of Brandon or Sarasota and get your body dumped off the Gandy bridge.

CUH!

Yo ULChiQt...j to the k :)

It's a grocery store in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It's a more upscale grocery store. Think Winn Dixie but with clean floors and items that aren't expired. Also, they have a lot of high-end produce and groceries. (some stores sell fresh lobster)

adpiucf 05-25-2005 11:08 AM

I miss Publix subs.

I'd drive back to East Orlando for one of their philly cheesesteaks. Mmmmmm.....

I was in Tampa for the weekend recently. Florida is nice, but it aint Cali. I'm a Westsider Rider till I die. FLorida is just way to humid. I could hardly breath. YOu know its bad when you are havin a hard time breathin at 5am. Plus Florida is all flat. Oh wait, I forgot about that one hill I saw off the 75. The slope was about 4 feet. wow... And I finally figured out why the Devil Rays suck so much. Its becuase their fuckin stadium is crooked. But I loved the Tampa. Really though, it was pretty amazing how they built that city with all the bridges(first time i ever went on a draw bridge) and causeways (i never knew what a causeway was in my life before tampa). Plus I had never see so many houses so close to the water in my life. When I flew into Tampa International, I looked down and said "Alright man...where did all the waves go?"

But seriously, Publix is a pretty nice grocery store. I saw it at every damn street I was on. So I just had to go in. But the one I was in was utter chaos. I was taken away by how huge it was. It truly is a SUPER MARKET! So heres to Publix, my favorite grocery store after Trader Joes and Trader Vics (i'm a hippie what can I say)

PUBLIX IS THE SHIT! BEST ALL PURPOSE SUPERMARKET IN THE WORLD! SCREW YOU CALI SUPERMARKETS! Come to Cali PUBLIX...pweeeeeeze :(

cashmoney 05-25-2005 11:14 AM

Speaking of food, anyone here that has went to school in Gainesville remember eating at Burritto Brothers? MMMMMmmm....the only bad thing was that they'd always run out of Guacamole since it was the BEST EVER!

Yeah, I love how all the meat is pre-sliced. They used to slice whatever meat and cheese you wanted fresh when you ordered it, now they just pull out 3 slices that are about 1/8" thick and all stuck together like a package of Oscar Mayer bologna. Then they put it in the middle of the bread like a taco, and pile a crapload of lettuce and stuff on top of that. It doesn't even close, so you have to reassemble it before you can even eat it. Screw Publix deli, Jersey Mike's Subs all the way!

WCUgirl 05-25-2005 11:32 AM

With all the talk about Publix in this thread and the talk about things to do in the Bay area in the other thread, I'm getting very homesick. :(

And Kelsey's Pizza, too? Is it still there? I am going to Orlando this weekend, and I'm sure we'll stroll down University Dr and Alafaya. Or drive ;)

I was really bummed to see the Wing Shack is under a new name. No more Bladder Bust.

I don't usually miss college (because nowadays I can't imagine keeping up with the social schedule I was on back then), but I'm getting a little nostalgic for Frogger's Mondays, Happy Bus Tuesdays downtown, Headlights Wednesdays, Fourth Fighter Thursdays, Bladder Bust at the Shack on Fridays, and fraternity parties on Saturdays... followed by a full day of shopping and recovering or bbq'ing by the pool at Knights Krossing until chapter dinner and chapter meeting on Sunday. Who had time for class?

Ok, back to the topic: Dumb Chicks. Speaking of, did anyone see the preview for the new WB show Beauty and The Geek?
"Duh. Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1942!"

Watching the WB is making me dumb.

I think Kelsey's Pizza is still there but The Grill isn't anymore. Headlights is turning into a Kobe. Wing Shack is now known as Pounders. Janie Macs became Devaney's. The schedule back in the day for me was Calico Jack's on Monday, Have a Nice Day Cafe (no longer there) on Tuesday, Janie Macs or Headlights or Wing Shack on Wednesday, Bar Orlando on Thursday, Cairo on Friday, and Icon on Saturday. Sunday was a relaxing day a Jefferson Commons.
Supposedly, it's changed a lot. People either go to Pounders, Devaney's or Knightlights everyday of the week. The greeks hardly ever go downtown anymore. I guess it's cheaper to stay local but there's nothing quite like going to Gino's or Midnight Pizza at 3am with your sisters. :)

cashmoney 05-25-2005 01:41 PM

Thats pretty funny, I title the thread "dumb chicks" and everyone starts thinking about how much they miss Florida. :D :D

The intersections of University and Dean are residential at both places where they meet. Although I think there's a new shopping place out by the north end of Dean with a pretty good deli.

I realize you're not talking about Auburn, but I just couldn't resist.

Ditto here... "Publix... where shopping is a pleasure!" Dunno if they've relaxed their strict 'no tipping' policy to the bag boys.

Don't most grocery stores in Florida except Winn-Dixie sell fresh lobster? We usually shopped at Publix, Food World, or Albertson's.

The only grocery stores in the areas in Florida that I was living in were Winn Dixie, Albertson's, or Publix. I know Winn Dixie and Albertson's didn't have fresh lobster and only a few of the Publix stores did. You would think that there would be more since it's located close to the ocean but I've noticed Publix sells fresh lobster in the stores that are in the more 'high-end' areas or their bigger stores.

CSUSigEp 05-26-2005 08:56 PM

Its funny that you call publix upscale. I went to visit granny in Florida and didnt notice that it was any different than any other grocery store Ive been to here in Cali...

In a state which, until recently, contained grocery stores like PIGGLY WIGGLY and IGA, Publix is pretty damned upscale. :D

Maybe I'd move back to Florida if they had more Whole Foods Markets.

There's a big difference between Publix and Winn-Dixie or Albertson's. Winn-Dixie, in my view, caters to rednecks/hill-billies and black people (those are usually the only types of people you see in there). Albertson's caters to mexicans/spanish people or broke ass college students...another words, people with no money....where as Publix caters to upper-scaled type of people. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last time I saw a black person shopping in Publix. Anyhow, you get the idea.

On the lobster thing......I've always been to Publix's (with the exception of the one in Gainesville) that have huge seafood and lobster sections.

FSUZeta 05-27-2005 12:28 PM

cash, haven't seen her movie but have seen her at the carwash(that hamburger commercial) yowzer!!!

i couldn't help but think that IF she had been smart enough to get into college, and IF she had joined a sorority, and IF her sex home videos had not gotten her kicked out, then this surely would!!

Oh, she'd be a DG hands down. I see a huge resemblence between her and Reese Witherspoon.

BTW, she wasnt smart enough to get in college?

FSUZeta 05-27-2005 04:39 PM

right. she couldn't even spell SAT

Anyone want wings? Cokes? They're in the cooler, help yourselves.

cashmoney 05-30-2005 11:54 AM

Went and watched "House of Wax" AKA The Paris Hilton movie the other night with my girl. All I can say is, I felt a lot dumber when it was over. I don't know why, but I felt really stupid while walking out of the movie.

Anyone realize it was about some UF students (Paris Hilton)? That shit was scary, too. Vincent looked like that guy from the movie "The Crow"

I like Dreagers and Andronicos for more "upscale" supermarkets. Not sure if either of those chains are down in SO Cal though. Normally, I shop at Safeway ( which I guess is Vons to you) :)
