The "Runaway Bride"-Your Opinion
It's a great thing that she is okay.
Should Jennifer pay a price for all of the time, effort that was used to "find her"? My mother would have beaten the natural brown off of my behind. :o  |
Absolutely!
I think at the very least she should be charged for the man hours searching for her by officials.
And if I was her fiance, I would be seeing a lawyer, because I would be suing her for breach of contract, pain and suffering, and lost wages. An engagement can be seen as a contract, depending on who you are asking. And America is Sue Happy, so why not? I think he would win. GCers, If it were a juried civil case, and you were a juror, what would you do? |
She should be forced to pay back to police for their time and efforts. I also think she should spend 30 days in jail and with that time get some much needed counseling.
I'm glad she is ok, but this whole situation could have been prevented had she just talked with someone she was close too. Shoot, when I heard the whole thing I had already tried and convicted the fiance (it sounded to familiar to the Laci Peterson case.) When I think about the number of people that are really missing and have been missing for years and this women pulls something like this and get media coverage almost immediately, it just makes me so mad. |
I feel she should be charged and jailed. If she needed to run away--fine. But to lie about being abducted--no.

Re: The "Runaway Bride"-Your Opinion
Yes, she should be required to pay for the time and effort used to find her. I was watching this news show one day and there is a law in a county in a state out west that requires rescued folk to pay for the municipal services rendered to rescue them when they don't abide by the rules of the road (such as when a road is closed due to possible storm damage and they drive on it anyway and then have to be rescued from the water or something when their fool selves fall through the road/bridge).
I think that she should have to pay for the services in Atlanta, New Mexico and whatever the other state in which she was searched. Honestly, I am annoyed beyond belief. If you are going to run from your wedding, fine - but don't create a silly hoax, worry everyone to death - and then try to pin the kidnapping on a hispanic person! That makes me just as mad as the stupid AA girl who sent hate mail to other AAs and Latinas on her campus here in IL so that her parents would think that it was not a safe place for her and let her come home. BOTH HER AND THE RUNAWAY BRIDE NEED THEIR -SSES KICKED! I'm about to revert into Cedric the Entertainer on Kings of Comedy ... I wish one of my relatives *would* pull some mess like that. The runaway bride mess was just childish and silly. Goodness, if you don't want to get married, just say so! I know that it's easier said than done but many things are. At some point you just have to be a woman about it...that's with *anything* that's hard to do. I'm disgusted. SC Quote:

Yes indeed! The police chief said that she couldn't be charged with a crime because GA doesn't have laws against an adult taking off of thier own volition. HOWEVER, they MUST have some kind of law that they can use. When I think of all those poor people who are really in trouble and this clown has the nerve to say, "I didn't know that the nation was looking for me," well, I am too through.

On top of paying back all the Law Enforcement fees, she should have to refund guess for the travel cost they spent to get to her wedding. Also, if I were a guess and couldn't take back my wedding gift I would be selling it to her.
Does anyone else think that her finance is gonna forgive her and after all of this they are gonna get married. |
:( I think she needs a psychiatric evaluation. How sad that you have to fabricate what she did just to cancel a wedding and save yourself the embarrassment of it all!

What ticks me off is that she said a Latino male and a white girl abducted her so you know the police was looking for that duo. Who knows how many latinos got pulled over in that area because they " fit the description". Something could have gone wrong in one of those stops. I think she crazy. She had the same lost look in all her pics. Then she has the nerve to say the wedding is not off only postponed? If dude stays with her must must really put it on him because he went from groom to be, to possible murderer to jilted fiance in a matter of days.
SummerChild, I feel you about the black girl sending the hate mail last week. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw she was black. |

Um hm hm, just one more thang to make you shake your head at 'em.

I can't find one reason why she should not be charged with a crime. You cannot file false police reports at your convenience to make your story sound better. That's not how it works. However, if you decide to go that route, you must accept the consequences. How unfortunate for the family. I would never embarass my mama like that.

She was DEAD wrong! If she was so overwhelmed, just say, "I don't want to go through with it." |
If I were her Fiance I would have nothing more to do with her and as the Mayor of Duluth said, She really owes all that helped aid in this "girl's" search an apology! A PUBLIC APOLOGY..........People donated time, money, etc and this was the thanks they received. Please, if he were smart he would have had her bags packed and her suit cases (hefty garbage bags would be better) waiting for her at the door Saturday night! Hmmmph!
But she really does owe the Town Folk and apology and they should also pelt her too nervous to be a bride azz with eggs! EGG HERRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! :o |
Just like ol' boy who said he was kidnapped by Al Quaida last year because he wanted some time alone but still got arrested, so should she.
|
I'm watching Inside Edition...WHY did they interview the guy who sat next to her on the plane, the guy who sold her the dress and are giving tips on how to call off a wedding! ROFLOL.
|
Yawl know this Opey Taylor fool wants this "girl" back?!?!?! And on top of that he's defending her. I cannot believe this........
Now I have to wonder would they look for LaKawanda if she did something like this to Rodeo Raheem??? - Well we first have to think the Po-Po will not be making any stops to Visit At Your Own Risk Housing Projects. - And who is going to search for her when they can just call Ray-Ray'nms house or to find her there feasting on Chicken & Waffles. - But then by calling Ray-Ray's you run the risk of hearing......"dooo-dooo-dooo...then number you have reached....555-0187 has been temporarily disconnected, no further information is available." - And we all know the Inner City will not spend $100g's on her search because if they live in the same city I live in, they more and likely wont have the money. So ole girl better consider herself lucky she has a man who still loves her and now BALLhead and apologize to those po'ole town folk cuz that Mayor is hella pissed........ Hmmph I'm on the phone with Greyhound right now checking prices for her when she pulls this stunt on their next scheduled wedding date. I think I'll buy her a ticket next time around!:o |
How did she get on the bus without any funds allll the way from Georgia to Nevada and landing in New Mexico? I think this mess was planned.

She had funds. She apparently withdrew money before leaving. She also bought her bus ticket a week in advance.

Yah kno, y'all
Truth is stranger than fiction...
What this schizophrenic woman is doing sounds like it is something outta onna dem Romance Novels--lak a "love square" 'tween some Latino lover AND his gwirlfriend, and homegirl's fiance... All to defraud some municipalities from money and states... Lending creedance to having some level of a premarital counseling prior to receiving a marriage certificate by bonifide counseling professionals who report to the court and possibly to a religious institution--as spelled out in a "covenant marriage licensing"... At any rate, gwirlfriend coulda gotten married by a JP, say to HAYLE with the family and be with a husband... Oh well... |
She did plan this whole thing, but it was a piss poor plan. See, I would have gone to Vegas with some $$ and would have been feasting at one of those $5 buffets or sitting at the slots or watching Penn and Teller or Celine Dion or whoever else comes to Vegas. Hell, I would have taken fiance with me and we just would have got married by Elvis!! :D
It made me  too when she said that a Hispanic man had kidnapped her! Why can't white people blame other white people when they decide they want to fake a kidnapping or other crime? Why drag minorities into this all the time? Nobody forced her to have 14 bridesmaids and 14 groomsmen and 600 guests!! When will people realize that the MARRIAGE is more important than the WEDDING?? IMHO, she needs to be slapped just because she was stupid and then charged with lying!! She could have done ANYTHING other than what she did. Getting the whole nation riled up for nothing. |
Quote:
Yeah I saw him on Fox News and I say let the fool have her! How could he want her back after the WHOLE NATION thought that he did it? He had to take a lie detector test and get a lawyer cause everyone was looking at him sideways(me included!). I mean dang she doesn't want to marry you and she had this planned out a week ago, what more do you need to hear? |
Quote:
At least she wasn't stupid like Susan Smith and say it was a brotha. |
Quote:
But then again DELTAQTE, didja take a good look at him or even her for that matter??? Ainobotty, rushing no where to marry either one of them. But seriously, I think she should pay for the damage she caused. And be responsible for her actions instead of letting other family members try to sum up what's wrong with her. Speaking of paying, uh yeah, TonyB I'll take that twunny dollars in fives and singles.......:D :o Where is Steeltrap??? |

I also saw ole boy with her pastor and another man on Hannity & Colmes (sp?). The whole time I kept thinking of the man on Oprah last week who wrote the book He's just not that in to you. Chick was giving off signs left and right that she just wasn't into him. One of the things she left beind was her engagement ring! Dude is in denial. He should have watched Oprah or at least someone should send him the book. |
Screw sending him the book, he needs the author to come and tell him face to face. Now she's back trying to get in good again by putting the engagement ring back on. If I was the jilted guy, I would have had my refund from the jewelers by now.

Maybe he's a psychiatrist and he can counsel her for free so it wouldn't really put a dent into the budget. :)
