oh lawd  And then some of them are even stupid enough to post what school they go to and the org they just know they are going to be in. Has no one taught them discretion? I mean that's just crazy.

I know!! Can you believe that?!? It's like people who publicly share that they want to become XYZ's and then turn around later and claim they are pledging ABC. People don't understand the meaning of discretion at all.

PM_Mama00 04-30-2005 09:49 AM

Wow. I know you guys do things differently than we do, but even if that was an NPC thing I'd be surprised. And a little creeped out.

Wow, yeah. I've run across a couple gals in my time who say, "Oh, I'm going to rush and I'm going to be a(n) [insert sorority name here]!" It's like they think it's completely up to them and the sororities have no say. :p

Jill1228 04-30-2005 12:28 PM

What in the hell are they thinking?

What she said!

HELLO these folx need a course in Discretion 001...they are not that advanced to take Discretion 101 yet

I think we will be watching some crash and burn in the next few years...anyone want ringside seats? :p

People have been posting this blog site on Greek message boards but I think it makes more sense to ignore these idiots.

BTW, in the title of the thread, it should read "ZPB."

I think she wrote it that way because when you convert English letters to Greek letters, F = Phi.

At least having all these jokers in a **lexicon** of sorts will make it easier to tell them in the immortal words of LL Cool J I DON'T THINK SO!!

This sort of behavior is just as tacky for NPC or NIC groups but sadly some do get away with it....NPHC, on the other hand, it's just total suicide.

Intense1920 04-30-2005 12:56 PM

The internet is an interesting thing.

Right. For future reference, she can just type "ZPB."

starang21 05-01-2005 03:30 PM

lol, interesting indeed.

EuSchel 05-01-2005 07:38 PM

This is too crazy! Although I am not a member of any BGLO, if a prospective is out running off at the mouth about the interst they have in ABC sorority or XYZ fraternity, how would a member know that they would be able to keep the secrets of the organization a secret. Of the posts I read they did not have any 'valid' reasons to be a member of the organizations they seek. These look like the makings of some unproductive members in the making if they get through the process, which is highly unlikely.

Holla!! I thought that membership was by INVITATION ONLY. I guess there's a "special" clause in place for these bloggers.

But of course these will be the people "calling" nationals when they didn't get picked.

He probably plays a sport and had to sit out his first year. Technically he should be a junior (credit wise) but for athletic eligiblilty he's a sophomore.

These kids are, of course, a little extreme. But I think we have to remember that that's what they are -- kids. We can't expect high school-ers to know anything about greek life, especially not that they're supposed to be discreet about their interest in a sorority/fraternity. Hell, when I went to my first interest session, the first thing I asked was what pledging was like and when they didn't tell me straight up, I just couldn't understand. And after that, I've made many mistakes, unkowingly of course. I think it's just something you learn along the way and these kids need some real guidance.

Many of them are already in college.

Private I 05-02-2005 11:06 AM

they sure are...and from what I've seen, some of them are legacies, which makes it even more ridiculous as to why they would make the very mistakes they should know to avoid.

AKA_Monet 05-02-2005 03:31 PM

Okey whatever

I dunno now... I guess this is how folks do things on college campuses these days... They could care less about they can do for the organization of their interest, but what the organization can donate to them... I wish they knew how hard it is to be a member.

I wish I could just be a "little ole ivy" again because that was the easy part... The hardest part was transitioning over the "sands" to become a full-"pledged" member of my Sorority...

Hm, guess that is our Maturity.:( We worked to get what we got, not handed to us.

Much diff today than yesterday isnt it?

K.O.T.S, not necessary to carry on like this is it?

Your GLO will help You grow as all of ours have.:) We all think ours is the best, but if We all stand alone, it does get lonesome.

TheEpitome1920 05-02-2005 04:14 PM

A part of me thinks its cute. When I was in HS I often thought about my sorority. I just hope they are interested in membership for the right reasons...
