Romantic Movies!

http://ak.collectiblestoday.com/imag...0116311001.jpg

I was just on another message board, which started lists of both men and women's favorite Romantic Movies. Let's have some fun, and name the movies that you (with or without your SO) find hopelessly romantic. Feel free to explain, if you'd like.

1) When Harry Met Sally.
"When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." *le sigh*

TechADPI 04-28-2005 11:26 PM

2)The Notebook
I don't even need an explanation. If you've seen the movie, you know why. :)

ms_gwyn 04-28-2005 11:29 PM

oh I just have to post in this thread....hope you ladies don't mind....

for me it has to be

1) Notting Hill
Because it shows all phases of love, the heartbreak and the finding of love again. How can you not love that...besides there's Hugh Grant :)

Of course we don't mind!

Play on...

ASUADPi 04-29-2005 12:19 AM

So I have a huge long list but I'm only going to name like two at a time. :)

Titanic
I love everything about this movie. Maybe its because I'm a huge history buff, I'm not sure. I love the storyline. I love the characters. I love the actors (come on girls Billy Zane and Leonardo Dicaprio are nice eye candy). I love the music. Even to this day, 8 years later, I still bawl my eyes out.

Sense and Sensibility
Again, what do I say about this movie. I love everything about it. I love Emma and Kate in thier roles. I adore Alan Rickman's character. I just love this movie.

tunatartare 04-29-2005 12:28 AM

Crashing on your orum...
The Phantom of the Opera
In my opinion, the greatest love story ever told. I love the movie and the Broadway show so much. It's just very beautiful and the music just gets under your skin. Can't wait till it comes out on DVD on Tuesday.

GOD BLESS YOU!!!!

I completely forgot about this movie.

I love, love, love this movie. I love the play (seen 6 times). I love the storyline. I love everything about it. I still cry when I see the play, I still cry when I hear the music and I will cry on Tuesday when I come home and watch the movie.

Is it Tuesday Yet!!!!!?????

I own the soundtrack and have most of the songs also downloaded to my computer. I can't wait till Tuesday and believe me I have a countdown going. Had one going since like February.

CougADPi 04-29-2005 11:11 AM

Moulin Rouge I LOVE this movie. While it is quirky, the underlying theme of love overcoming all odds always gets me. Plus the whole "Romeo and Juliet tragedy" element is great as well! ::sigh:: Totally going to watch that this weekend! (Oh and the soundtrack rocks as well)

honeychile 04-29-2005 12:31 PM

8) Dr. Zhivago

The passion between Yuri & Lara ("Mother Russia") is so intense, it burns!

scho5148 04-29-2005 01:02 PM

1. Sweet Home Alabama
2. The Cutting Edge
3. Shag, The Movie
4. A Walk to Remember

Great choices!!!!

I love, love, love Sweet Home Alabama (Josh Lucas is total eye candy). I love The Cutting Edge. And A Walk to Remember I bawl my eyes out every time. Mandy Moore is adorable in that movie.

more of my favorites

Beauty and the Beast
How can you not love this movie? 'nough said.

Ghost
I love the song Unchained Melody. I love Whoopi Goldberg in this movie.

and that is all I can think of off the top of my head because my list is at home and I'm at work.

BBelleADPi 04-29-2005 02:45 PM

Phantom of the Opera-haven't seen the movie, can't wait. But we took our kids to the play at the Fox Theatre 3 times-we bought the CD and they knew all the words to every song at ages 8 and 12. Now our 9 year old listens to it in the car with me-but I don't know if I can let her see the movie-I'll have to watch it first and decide.

A Knight's Tale-Heath Ledger is to die for!!

And, in the same vein-First Knight-Richard Gere-ah!

BBelleADPi 04-30-2005 02:41 PM

ADP Testing. Sorry, guys. Honeychile's doing her best to make me computer literate.

BBelleADPi 04-30-2005 02:42 PM

Sigh.

MiamiADPi 04-30-2005 04:18 PM

In love with Nicholas Sparks' books.... totally adore the movies so "A Walk to Remember" and "The Notebook" are definitely up there. I also love "Sleepless in Seattle"...

'Tell me what was so special about your wife'
'Well, how long is your program.'...
"I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like... magic. "

BBelleADPi 04-30-2005 04:45 PM

ADP

BBelleADPi 04-30-2005 04:48 PM

:D

Sorry for the personal hijack. Now, back to the thread at hand!

MiamiADPi-my daughter wanted the Notebook DVD for Valentine's Day. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I keep hearing how wonderful it is!

Now, you can get fancy and add size, too [*size=7*][*font=symbol*]ADP (take out the **).

Back to movies:

Shining Through

First, I love-love-love Michael Douglas (well, the younger version), and second, I'm into history, and Berlin during WWII is one of "my eras". This is such a fantastic movie of a love that shouldn't have happened but did... *sigh* Liam Neeson was pretty darn good looking in this, too!!

BBelleADPi 04-30-2005 05:16 PM

Fifty First Dates-cutesy little movie, guy persists after his girl, and the gorgeous setting at the end of the movie is awesome! One of the few movies in which I actually enjoyed Adam Sandler. Well, and Spanglish-I like him better as a straight actor.

ms_gwyn 04-30-2005 10:32 PM

I love sleepless...but I have to say that my fav is You've Got Mail.

or
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Love Actually

can you see a theme developing? :)

Sometimes it bugs me that I can be "such a girl" when it comes to these types of movies...but damnit I am a girl....I just don't want to be a "girly" girl

oh my...I can't believe that I've forgotten...

Pride and Prejudice...esp with Colin in it?

I think I'm having a chick flick marathon in a minute :D

honeychile 04-30-2005 10:50 PM

ACK!!! I cannot believe I forgot to mention Love Actually!!!! It's one of my absolute favorites, and I sob through so much of it!!

Oh man - GREAT movie (someday, I'll buy it on DVD, but right now the six videos sit on my dresser :D)

I'll have to think and get back to you all on others, but right now I'd throw out:

Princess Diaries 2
Miss Congeniality
Ella Enchanted

trojangal 05-01-2005 09:27 AM

Somewhere In Time with Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves

Hubby and I both love that movie. Theme song from that was our wedding dance music.

ASUADPi 05-01-2005 01:25 PM

co-sign with Sleepless in Seattle and Miss Congeniality

I have to add....

Romeo and Juliet
(I actually prefer the Claire Danes/Leonardo Dicaprio version of this movie, but the story in general is romantic but yet so depressiong :))

While You Were Sleeping
(Seeing a trend with Sandra Bullock)

It Could Happen To You
I love this movie. Nicholas Cage's character is just so adorable. I love Bridget Fonda's character as well. Just love the movie. So sweet

CougADPi 05-03-2005 12:50 PM

33. The American President I love this movie. I think I have the whole thing memorized (drives my husband crazy when I say the lines along with the movie! :) )

34. The Prince and Me This is one of the few movies that has satisfied my romantic side and my feminist side! A girl who can have career and the man of her dreams! WONDERFUL!

ljlucky7 06-05-2005 02:15 AM

i loooove
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

violet7 06-05-2005 03:22 PM

Rush -- though it's a heartbreaker it's still a romance....a drug romance, but yet it's all the same. and it's got erik clapton leading the theme song, 'tears in heaven'.... get a box of tissues
and Pearl Harbor!!!!!

polarpi 06-05-2005 11:57 PM

Additional ones to add:

The Princess Bride - classic love story (even though it's a comedy)
Father of the Bride
Shakespeare in Love
The Wedding Planner (I'm not normally a big JLo fan, but I love this movie!)
Center Stage

smiley21 06-06-2005 07:18 AM

The Way We Were

It's a classic......

trojangal 06-06-2005 06:26 PM

I think, but am not 100% sure if this is the right name. It's the movei with Alan Alda where he and his girlfriend meet every year at their hotel. It's a love affair that literally lasts a lifetime. Great story line

Same Time, Next Year

smiley21 06-06-2005 07:28 PM

Hello?! What about Pretty Woman ? I love that movie. I saw it again last week and I cried. Richard Gere is so hot.

honeychile 06-09-2005 11:37 AM

Somewhat romantic, especially to those of us who like Julia Stiles:
Save the Last Dance

smiley21 06-09-2005 11:43 AM

How about The English Patient ? That Ralph Finnes is yummy.

emleepc 06-09-2005 12:04 PM

So I saw Love Actually yesterday, and it was pretty good. We could probably add that one to the list too.

And what about The Mirror Has Two Faces and Funny Girl? (can you tell I'm a Babs fan?)

honeychile 06-27-2006 09:29 PM
