Maybe they're just publicity whoring. He was pretty high profile with Penelope shortly after him and Nicole seperated. He's never been one to hide his relationships from the paparazzi.

I think it's a combination of the age diffference and the fact that we basically watched her grow up on "Dawson's Creek" -- it gives it an extra ick factor beyond that, of, say Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas.

I love how they both confirm they have been "dating" for weeks when in the last two weeks of entertainment magazines (US, People, InTouch) Katie was photographed with at least two other men she "supposedly" went out with. :rolleyes:

yeah, I agree...ever since the breakup between Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, he seems to have this freakish, maniacal grin in photos, and he doesn't look attractive.

Maybe he'll convert her to Scientology?

Yeah, but the reason I say publicity stunt is the fact that they both have movies coming out AND it was their publicists that announced the "relationship." Usually celebrity couples don't TRY to let the world know that they're dating. Instead, they wait until after they're found out and then, usually after some denial, they finally admit to it. Something's definitely fishy here.

Good thing none of you are invited to my wedding next Saturday - you'd all think it was icky when I'm marrying my 14-years-older-than-me husband. :(

When I first heard about them dating, I thought it was helluva random match up. And the age difference isn't too bad, but I think the ick factor just comes in b/c everyone thinks of her as "Joey" and she has that young look about her, whereas Cruise is starting to show his years.

I see couples who have a significant age difference (10+ years) between them in NYC all the time. It's not a big deal so maybe New Yorkers are just used to it, don't care, or have better things to do with their time.

Ok so Katie's not a college freshman, but she plays one on TV - Her last movie (First Daughter) she played a college freshman.

Is Lindsay Lohan old enough to play a highschooler yet? I think you have to be at least 25 to qualify. I think Hilary got in just under the wire to play a Jr Higher on Lizzie McGuire (although her co-star who played Gordo made it comfortably at 18).

I'll be the third NYC GCer to say I'm dating someone 10+years older than me...and PROUD OF IT dammit.

Even though I was somewhat of a fan of "Dawson's Creek" back when everybody watched it, I can't stand her. There's just something about Katie Holmes that's...not cute. Tom's good-looking, although I still can't understand why he'd want to give up somebody as beautiful as Nicole.
