Your 1st Job

My first job was at a grocery store when I was 14. Oh the memories. It was right by my high school so all of the cashiers were HS students.

NiaX 04-27-2005 02:26 PM

My first job - working in my parent's dental office. At 7 years old. Still work there...

My first job with taxes taken out - Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. I worked in the merchandise dept. It was funny seeing the different many ways folks would try to steal a stuffed Tweety bird. I worked with them starting when I was 16 y/o, I worked there for 3 years.

_Opi_ 04-27-2005 02:47 PM

First Job was at Paramount Canada's Wonderland (an amusement park) at 15/16. ...took an hour and half to get to work and back...but it was worth it because it was the best job I've ever had..

Memories...

Intense1920 04-27-2005 06:24 PM

First job was at 15. It was a summer program and I did secretarial work. I didn't care that taxes were being taken out since I had some money in my pocket. LOL.

First job was as a cashier at Kissena Farms, a produce supermarket. I was seventeen, and loved every minute of it. We didn't even have scanners on the registers we had to type evey item in....imagine that.....oh the memories.

First time getting paid....

I was a drug dealer....

Naw I'm just kidding.

My first job came when I was 15 (a week before my 16th b-day) and I worked at a shirt factory. I was laid off 2 weeks later.

I hated that place because there was a old woman there who yelled at me all the time.

My first job was in a grocery store in this high end apartment complex. Like Craig from Friday I was fired over the phone on my day off. The sister store to the one I worked at caught fire so it was last one hired, first one fired to accomodate those workers.

My first job was at Price Chopper (I was 16), a local grocery store. I started off as a cashier, then a video clerk, and ended up in Customer Service. I worked there for 3 years. No one would believe half the stuff I saw there. Grown men getting into a fist fight over cherries, people relieving themselves in the aisles. Yes, I am serious. :o

Lawd don't remind me of my first job! I was a bagger at a grocery store. Allllllll people did was b!+ch!

"Tell that heffa not to smash my bread and chips. Put my sodas in a different bag!"

Soooooo what wench! It ain't like your precious bread and chips are going to taste different because they smashed.

"Shamika, you need to push more than two or three carts in at one time! The other baggers push more than five carts into our store!"

Whateva! Number one, pushing carts from the parking lot into the store was not even on my job description. Number two, I ain't no big nicca, like the rest of the baggers. Obviously, I could not exert that much force. I wouldn't even if I was able to. Sheeeet I was too cute for that.

That's so funny. About a year and a half ago, I couldn't find a job and McDonald's was the only place where I could get a job. I, like you, quit after 2 days. I was thinking, I'm a grown a$$ woman 'bout to finish college...I don't need this!...ef McDonalds!!

Dvyne Evolushun 07-23-2005 10:52 PM

Waitress when I was a freshman in college. It was an upscale black-owned restaurant downtown, but it went bankrupt. The hint and 1/2 came when we would go to get our paychecks and they weren't there on time. When I finally got my last paycheck, I never went back to work.

LOL!

My first job was when I was 17, delivering the morning paper too early in the morn. I quit after 1 week. My next real job was at Pier 39. I worked for the company that owned the arcade, carousel and food carts. I worked there for a little over a year and 1/2.

It was fun for a while but the fog and cold weather sucked.(It got really cold down there) The trade off was we got free game tokens, hot dogs, popcorn, It's It's (thick ice cream oatmeal cookie sandwich only sold in the SF area{as far as I know}) cotton candy and rides on the merry go round.

One of the few things I liked about the job was that I met some celebrities and got a couple of autographs.
