Michael Baisden (On TV): After Dark on TVOne
Is his show on your local radio waves? If not, check out www.lovelustlies.com.
His topics are GREAT! I think today, he's discussing pimps/hoes in the pulpit. :o |
I LOVE his show. It's so much better than the "5 o'clock traffic jam," which is a rehash of the "Lunch Break Breakdown" which is gonna repeat again during the "Top 8 at 8." Even when I don't agree with the callers or whatever, it's always thought-provoking and leads to good conversation.
I'm not sure how many markets he's syndicated to, though. It's kind of a "well-kept secret" here in Charlotte and I've never heard or seen an advertisement or promo for it. |
he's on WHUR in the afternoons here in DC. I didnt even listen to today's show b/c I know it was gonna be...uh, interesting..
|
He's on here in Philly as well on WDAS, and honestly I don't like him. On my drive home I want to hear music. Yes I have heard him, and some of his topics are very good, but that is just way to much talking for my drive home.
|
We'll see today if he's still on the air. :o
|
Isn't it odd

Is that just me? Morning radio is the time for talking. "Rush hour" radio is the time for music to get me through my road rage. |

Can I get Doug and Lorna back? WHUR messed up big time putting this fool on. I use to listen to WHUR with my kids in the car in the evenings, now I have to put in a cd because I am not listening to that mess! Though, I will agree, the few times that I have listened, the topics were interesting, but they need to save that for a more "adult" time slot, not during family time. |

I'm glad I'm chilling at home when he's on. :D

I have known about the show but never tuned in. Maybe I'll check it out today during the drive home. I never tuned in because while I have read his books, he just comes across as arrogant as hell to me. |

I've never read any of his books, so my first exposure to him is really just the show. Maybe because I tend to listen to the radio ALL DAY LONG I like the talking break in the middle of the afternoon, but then again, I used to listen to Spires & Krantz talk radio in the afternoons when I was in high school, sooo... maybe I'm an anomaly :p |
I guess that I'm in the minority here. I love the show! The topics are very interesting. Now for some reason, in the morning, I need muuuuusic, not talking - to wake up maybe (I leave for work at 6:45 or earlier sometimes).
Did anyone hear his topic today? Women in the church and abuse. It was very interesting and sad. One woman who was abused tried to get away on numerous occasions... and he still kept coming after her. It was just crazy. I feel so bad for her. That is one case where I think that I would agree with the gun toters b/c she might have to take care of him once and for all.... The police are not helping and he's getting out of jail soon. SC |
Soror, you and I both are in the minority. I don't see him coming off as arrogant, either.
I like the fact that he's bringing topics to the airwaves that need to be discussed. If I'm not "feeling" a topic, then I just hit "CD" or change the station. I don't like the battle of the sexes. I think that's his Friday show. Nope. I don't get into that. LOL |
Soror, I don't see him as arrogant either. He seems really cool to me. I haven't heard the battle of the sexes show. What happens on it?

Battle...
I don't know really. I hear so much about the "men cheating this and the men cheating that" that I don't get into it.
|
Now I have seen him in person, and that is cool, but way to much talking on the radio for me.
The battle of the sexes is where he has a topic and he has men and women call in and they get asked certain questions, or have to sing stuff. For instance one day I was at the hair salon getting my eye brows done and they were listening to him. They had the battle of the sexes going with the song Float On... he would play a part of the song and you the part where the guy says his name and stuff and then he says and this is what I want you to do....well basically contestants had to say there name and give their sign, and then do a little made up rap on the spot...now since I was forced to listen to it....it was ok.....cuz the raps were off the change. |

I like his show. He is cool in the afternoon to listen to and he usually has good topics. And hey the ratings dont lie there is a reason he is on.

i am not a fan of baisden
but i like the show. its a welcome change especially when im on 695 heading to b'more..lol. his topics are important but i do get tired of him screaming in the microphone and the ghetto bunnies that call. he brings out a sense of honesty to his show.
the pimps in the pulpit discussion was cool, LONG OVERDUE. |
He has good topics, but I think he does African Americans a disservice. He was talking about being a swinger the other day, and I didn't think we were into that. I was so disgusted I turned the radio off.

That show probably was for you, since you didn't think "we" were into that. Obviously, there are Af Ams who are into "swinging", hence the show topic. You must have missed that episode of Martin. :o Just like folks didn't think "we" were into suicide, stabbing, etc. Just thank Integration for all of that. |
This week on Michael B "Women on the DL"
|
Today's topic is Stolen Innocence ~ Women who were raped or molested :(

It was too heavy of a show for me to continue to listen to it. When I was in the car this afternoon, they were actually talking to children.
One woman called in tell the story of her 15 year old daughter. She said she taught her daughter what do when touch appropriately since she was too young to understand it, around the age of 2. She said that she always told her daughter that she could talk to her if someone touched her inappropriately without fear of punishment or disbelief. However, recently when a family member with a history of sexual abuse, touched her daughters's leg, her daughter only confided in a friend. The situation escalated to that family member raping the daughter. It went straight from that single touch to the gruesome assault. The daughter even got on to say that she wishes she had told her mom because it may have kept the situation from ending the way it did. The uncle is incarcerated now for the attack. |
A Hot Mess!
I cant' say enough about how I loathe the Michael Baisden show.
His topics can be interesting but his approach to them is not. I swear once a weeek he does a pimps in the pulpit show. He is clearly biased against folks who go to church. That alone turns me off. It's not that callers call in with their stories, but rather his reactions to those calls. Doug and Lorna were really good but Doug had some type of terrible accident so he's gone. SIDENOTE: WHUR has put the Steve Harvey Show on in the morning. All that slow talkin and callin women heifers is too much for me too. I dont even listen to WHUR anymore! |
I do not like his radio show! He should not be on air period. He should stick to books.
Now Wendy Williams..............she's the bomb!!!! I love her show!! |

What happened to Doug? I am still HEATED that The Real DC Morning Show was YANKED off the air like that. |

He can be kind of annoying, but some of his topics are interesting. He could play just a little more music though. ( I am a Frankie Beverly & Maze fan, last week he started the show stating that he's dedicating the first hour to them, but since he TALKS soooo much, he ended up playing only 3 or 4 songs.)
|
Today's show tackles paternity fraud. One of the callers has a movie that should be out in November which deals with PF.
This is the guy's site http://www.paternityfraud.com/ I know Mike can be over the top, but PF is a serious issue. |
I like him, but I'll switch to Wendy Williams.......I rather read his books
|
I like Michael Baisden...his topics are great............
|
I absolutely loathe his show. I tried to give it a chance when they put it on the same station as they did the Steve Harvey Show here in Atlanta. While I love listening to Steve in the morning, I completely avoid the station in the afternoon when Michael is on. Not only is this man completely full of himself, but he has such an aught with the church and people of God that it's not even funny.

Me too, I just turn the station on my ride home or pop in a CD. |
Paternity fraud is an interesting topic. I wonder what happens to those guys on Maury when they find out they are not the father of a child they have raised. Do they get the child support back? I dont think so
|
Lol@"You can fight back!" One way to fight back is to keep those pants zipped in the first place. I'm sure abstinence until marriage would significantly reduce paternity fraud.
