I think that this is a pretty good quote:

"Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it."

Henry David Thoreau

I also have another pretty good quote to think about -

The great motivators for me:

A TRIBUTE TO SIGMA

"In the beginning there were seven women
Of great esteem and pride,
They used their experience and education
With a lighted torch as their guide.
It was November of 1922
On the 12th day, and since then we grew,
An organization, Sigma Gamma Rho
Represented by gold and blue.
Of course there were other sororities
With missions and goals to share,
But what we have found in Sigma Gamma Rho
Leaves nothing else to compare.
In Sigma we work for each other,
Our communities, families, and youths,
In every endeavor, we strive for whatever
Brings progress, support, and truth.
Our goal is unselfish and dedicated
To make a better society,
Giving young people a chance at higher education,
And fulfillment that is undying.
It is for this reason we are a part
Of the "Last Created, Best Designed",
The Kappa Rho Chapter of
Sigma Gamma Rho
Flying high in the Sigma sky."

Sorhors and Sisterfriends you all might like this quote:

" The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast: the chicken was "involved;" the pig was 'committed'."

"Anger is like holding the blade of a butcher knife, it'll only be a matter of time before you hurt yourself"

"A Rattle snake will only emit poison though you only feed it honey"

both from "Patti's Pearls". I advise everyone, men and women to read this book. Very uplifting.

SeriousSigma22 07-06-2002 06:04 PM

Okay folks this one is serious and kind of silly at the same time it was taken from a movie line that Danny Glover's Character stated in Sliverado:

" I don't wanna kill you and you don't wanna be dead."

Everytime I see that movie and hear that line I just crack up!

CodeBlue_R3 07-06-2002 11:44 PM

How about this quotes?

No Jesus, No Peace-Know Jesus, Know Peace (Car Bumper Sticker)

He who angers you conquers you. (Unknown)

If you stand up for nothing you can fall for anything. (Read it somewhere)

I'm about to cross a boundary, but CodeBlue_R3 doesn't set limitations on herself. I'm not a member of the Great Sorority of Sigma Gamma Rho, but some day would love to be that's why I feel "Greater Service, Greater Progress" is an excellent quote.

The more you do, the more you get right. By the way I'm loving the commitment and involvement quote-I sent that to my boyfriend overseas to show all his army buddies.

Off the big screen: Will Smith as Ali "... Ain't no viet-kongs ever called me..." (I love my country and my countries armed forces especially the ARMY, but you gotta admit that is pretty deep).

If you abide in me and my words abide in your then you shall ask what you will and it shall be given-God (Doesn't sound hard at all huh)

This describes me: Proverbs 31:29 or so. Charm is decieving and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord shall be praised (can I get a Amen). -Actually I don't need a man lol.

Okay enough of the kidding around-I've had entirely too much caffiene today-don't tell my doctor. (muah)

By the way one last quote I couldn't possibly leave out which is also a special message to my loving soldier who is stationed overseas and will probably near read this "I LOVE YOU!!!"

Sorhors and friends,

I just thought that you might like this poem:

revolutoin starts at 11:50 a.m.//april 2, 1993

i woke up listening
to the sounds of you sleeping
the rise and fall
of your breath

lulling me gently back to sleep

. . .and i started thinking
of how revolutionary it really was
to wake up. . .
in a cold house
under a warm blanket
to the sound of a black man at peace

karsonya e. wise

Enjoy. . .

Actually who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us.
